I'm 4 months late... But... Get a guitar. I'm 51, I've played metal guitar since I was 16. I still play it. I own a corporate business and keep a guitar and amp in my office. Why? Because when you play guitar, especially metal guitar, it's about the energy and intensity. You're holding an electric instrument who's only purpose is to literally push the power of the music out. You FEEL the music playing metal guitar man. When you strap it on, and stand in front of that amp and his those riffs .... MMMMMAaaannnnn...

On each of Metallica's first three albums w Cliff they would play a Cliff song with no words (instrumental) and this was his last and best. What do you call that guitar? That would be the lead. The other guitar would be the rhythm. Then you have the bass, which is often called bass guitar, but it's not really a guitar, as there are some key differences in the instrument and the way it's played. If you like the guitar, you should get yourself one and start playing. A lot of guitar shops offer lessons as well, and there are plenty of instructional videos on KZfaq that you can learn from. If you're serious about wanting to play, then I say go for it. You won't regret it.
