I've listened to several Metallica songs by this point and I have not found a bad one yet. The four Horsemen was a raw song off of their first album. There was so much talent even then. #reaction #metallicareaction #metallica

Talking about underrated songs, that song hardly plays live and only twice played in full . One of my favourites.

Seen it played fully at least 6 times

bayareathrasher666 The middle part played until 1985 , since then played in the 30th anniversary, and in the secret Dehan show only twice

I always feel that this song was the blueprint for Metallica’s biggest epics that came on the following albums.

Back then when they put out there first 3 albums Metallica was hungry. That is why they put out 3 masterpieces back to back.

That's the part Lars n James changed completely from Mustaine original... fantastic!! It's an entire different song. Mustaines was about sex..this ones Biblical! 💯 better!! Even Mustaine said it was better.

Best Metallica album, fight me and I will be last one standing upon a pile of your skulls! But seriously, such a great debut album, Jon and Marsha Zazula put up their entire (and very lucrative) record store as collateral to produce this album and create the MegaForce Records label...Brave AF! and it paid off, in spades!

they were late teens when they made this.

I think they were 19 years old when they recorded this. People have a misconception about this song and a couple other songs on the debut album. Dave Mustaine was credited for the writing, but it was Kirk Hammett that played on the studio album. Kudos to Kirk for ripping out Dave's music.

This album kicked open the doors of thrash

This was Mustaines song called the Mechanixx but when he was fired, James Hetfield rewrote every lyric, changed the title and a few other things including that bridge that slows down. It blows the orginal outta the park!! Lars n James made this wayyyy better. And Kirk's solo is more felt than Daves superfast solo. Just completely different song! ✨️In 92' San Diego I attended... 3:05 Lars runs down to another drum kit...Epic!!🔥🤘〽️

mustaine brought this song from his band before metallica, I don't believe he wrote mechanix all by himself without help from his other bands mates. mustaines solo is just super sloppy rather than super fast lmao. Lars running from one drum kit to the other in the middle of the song is epic though 😎😎

Spot on commentary!! My wife and I were always joking that James Hetfield went from like 18 to 40 in the space of about two years. In 86 he looked like a teenager and had that young voice and by 89 he's a snarling growling ball of anger and looks mid 30s. But yeah you can definitely hear the complexity and perfection and the talent right from the first album

Listen to the bass. Cliff Burton was to Metallica what Randy Rhodes was to Ozzy. Cliff was...

If you be impressed by this song, you must react to Anesthesia (pulling teeth) from the same album. It’s a Bass Solo, showing all skills of the first bassist, Cliff Burton. I recommend Live at Metro, 83.

The soloist was Dave Mustane of Megadeath. He really helped with Metallica to develope their sound.
