Nickleback is from Canada... they have a lot of haters tho, cos they got really popular, really fast in the 2000's, playing a brand of radio-friendly rock. They started in the 90's - Nickleback had Chad Kroeger (vocals & guitar), his brother Mike Kroeger (bass) and Ryan Peake (guitar)... Daniel Adair (drums) joined in 2005. First record 'Curb' (1996) didn't do much... but they signed w/ a major label in 1999 and released 'The State' (2000 ), which got some airplay at the time. The 3rd album 'Silver side up' put Nickleback on the fast lane very quickly in 2001, w/ the single 'How you remind me' becoming a huge MTV hit. To answer your earlier question, as I recall the name of the band originated from when the bass player in the band (Mike Kroeger) used to work at Starbucks, and the most commonly ordered drink worked out to 95 cents, so he constantly had to give out nickels as change. All day he said "Here's your nickel back." And he thought it sounded cool.
