Nemo is one of the biggest hit songs of Nightwish. And the album Once is the most successful Nightwish album to date. Tarja is an amazing singer.

Nightwish is a Finnish band that started in 1996. The band has 9 studio albums, the first 5 were recorded with Tarja. The song you just heard is from the album Once, released in 2004. Recently, Nemo was considered by Metal Hammer UK magazine as one of the 100 greatest songs of the century. Although it sounds strange to you, this is one of the songs that most identifies Nigthwish in the world. The second vocalist is Anette, who recorded 2 albums, and the current singer is Floor, who has also recorded two albums so far. Possibly the vast majority of the songs you know about Nightwish were not originally recorded by Floor. The three vocalists have completely different voices and styles, but each one is good in its own way. The five albums with Tarja are influenced by Gothic metal, power metal, symphonic music and folk music. Since Anette the band has been concentrating on elements of symphonic metal and folk music. Tarja left the band in 2005, at the time when KZfaq didn't exist yet. Most of the videos of live performances with her were posted by fans. Some have good recording quality, but others do not. As for Anette, it is more difficult to find good live recordings from her. Regardless, Anette has a better ability in the studios than live. Floor begun as a temporary member in 2012 and has been an official member of the group since 2013. It's easier to find videos of her with better recording quality. This isn’t a good representation of Tarja. She is definitely at the same level as Floor, and has many years of classical training. I wouldn’t judge a singer by one song, especially not a live one. Most of the songs Floor sings are from the Tarja era. Ghost Love Score, for example.

Tarja has the same range as Floor. Both ladies are soprano with a three-octave range (D3-F6). Tarja sings mostly only opera style, therefore she is not as versatile as Floor, but she is a very capable singer. You should try the Wacken 2013 and the acoustic version of this song with Floor.

I don't have a link, but yes, Floor and Tarja are good friends and have performed together. Tarja trained her voice very much to focus on operatic singing. Floor did just enough opera to be able to do it through a mic, but not so much unamplified, which is the essence of opera. I was never fully operatic, but classical and a bass, so I used to have to re-plaster walls regularly. I wasn't that into it, as I was always more of a rock fan, despite my classical upbringing. So Floor just took what she needed from her selective studies at the Conseratorium Tilburg, which she went on to after graduating from the Rock Academy - all the while singing with After Forever. So while with Tarja, opera was the focus, with Floor it was just another tool in her extensive range of techniques. In between, there was Anette, who has a decent enough voice but more suited to pop than rock and certainly not opera. Anette could never reproduce live what she did in the studio, which was a shame. Tuomas produced some great songs for Anette, and they were (and still are) very poplular. A couple of them will always be Anette songs, as they just don't suit Floor's style. But it really was with Floor that Nightwish reached full maturity. I knew Nightwish from way back, and Tarja didn't do anything for me and as time went on and her operatic style became more prevalent, even less so (I should emphasise that this is my own perspective, ad others may disagree - that is fine, as we all have different tastes and the world would be a boring place if we didn't!). With Anette, I liked some of the songs and got to actually turn up the radio if they were played. But it took Floor to make a fan of me.

It's with Tarja, but more important it has the epic end instrumental. "Nemo" is one of their biggest hits. Tuomas Holopainen compositions can't be generic. I'm for the first time on your channel, but I think many songs with Floor's vocal which you heard are from Tarja's era. ;) And Tarja has classical and operatic music education, she could be opera diva as well.

Never been a fan of Tarja. There is only one song i love with her and that is Phantom of the Opera where Tarja and Marko kick some butt ;) You should try that one. But she is primarily operatic, so you wont see the same diversity as Floor is capable of

Greetings ladies. It's been a while. lol Tarja started as the lead singer for Nightwish back in 1996. She studied classical and pretty much stuck to that style and while Tuomas knew her as one of the better singers he knew, he did his best to arrange all the music where it would compliment her very heavy opera sound. Unfortunately, Tarja doesn't really have anywhere else to go as far as another style or effect on her voice so there is no versatility at all on vocals up until Floor joined the band. The idea of "symphonic metal" was definitely bringing the opera sound up front, but when it came time the heavier metal sounding songs, her voice doesn't really fit. Keep in mind that before 2014, Floor was singing Tarja's and Anette's songs. None of the songs you hear in the Wacken 2013 concert are Floor's, but as you well know, she sure made them hers. You listen to Nemo by Floor at Wacken and you'll love it! She has brought something so special to this band that even the fan favorites were made that much better once Floor stepped in. That entire concert at Wacken made a lot of "official live" songs as they quickly became popular not only in the eyes of Nightwish members or the record company, but in the eyes and ears of the fans too. Tarja and Floor are still very close and yes, they did a performance together if not a few. Floor also joins Simone Simons and Epica onstage often as well, as they too are very close friends. Before joining Epica, guitarist Mark Jansen and Floor, (no relation) had a project together. It's not as good because it's not floor, floor does a live version of this and an acoustic version. I love annette but she can't sing live , I love floor as she can do it all , gave never been a fan of Tarja. 🤟🇬🇧🇬🇧🤟
