Great reaction. There's *nothing* that PTX can't do. If you want to see Mitch hit another incredible high note, watch their cover of Elton John's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight." It's one of their best arrangements. Matt's bassline is also impressive. I think that you'll really enjoy it.

You are the first to realize that Mitch is holding that high note forever then hits the higher note and a long riff down.

Good choice! Mitch and Scott have their own group called super fruit and do fantastic freestyle rap. Both Scott and Kirstie have great beatboxing skills and often fill-in for Kevin when he’s singing a solo. Check out their cover of Ariana Grande‘s problem where Mitch rap’s Iggy Azaleas part like a BOSS.

PTX is just go increibly inventive and immensely talented that they can do just about anything and make it special at the same time. This is a perfect example - and it was early in their career!

It was actually just one - Mount St. Mary's University in the mountains near Los Angeles, where the following year, Avi Kaplan (the bass here) founded the A Cappella Academy along with Ben Bram (PTX producer/arranger/engineeer) and Rob Dietz. It's a 10-day intensive summer music camp for 12 to 18-year-olds from around the world. This campus was ideal, as it has classrooms, cafeteria and dormitories. I have never heard the original song. PTX has gotten me to listen to songs I never would otherwise listen to. This was on the 2013 PTX II album. The rap shocked me at first but now I don't notice it because they are so good! I am not sure that I ever saw the video. I have been a fan since The Sing Off, so I buy anything they do even if I don't know the song or original artist. I know they will be fantastic!

I think they were inspired by the feelings of the PTX members, they chose the place therefore. Kevin (believer) - church, Avi - nature, others - city. In my opinion, this is the most complicated video together with Bohemian Rhapsody.

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy is one of my fav songs from them!! Also really loved their performances on the sing-off (there aren't any good quality videos f the performances considering how long ago the show was, but there are still videos if you'd like to watch them!). My fave performance was their final with Florence and the Machines' Dog Days are Over, but honestly, they had some amazing performances on that show!!

For high notes- You should watch them perform Aha live in Singapore - Mitch is amazing! Absolutely kills it

So glad you enjoyed this cover! It seems like I always enjoy Pentatonix's version more than the original afterward. Mitch is so awesome, they all are, but Mitch is like an alien with his vocals. Their cover of Problem is a good one for rap. Superfruit (Mitch and Scott's channel) is just amazing when it comes to them both rapping. Feeling Myself is a great one Superfruit does as a cover. Clicked on this SO damn fast I just made my own head spin. Whoo! I love how much you’re getting into them after coming in skeptical at the start. Another couple good ones with rap in are their cover of Problem, and Mitch (high voice) and Scott’s (tall blond) side project Superfruit cover of Feeling Myself by Nicki Minaj & Beyoncé. But if you’re interested in Mitch really blowing the world’s collective mind with his range, I highly recommend the Pentatonix cover of Kiiara’s “Gold”. He does with his voice alone what she used computers and layering to make, and he makes it look straight up effortless. Edited to add: their original "Love Again" is -- I'll just put it this way: I've never seen a reactor NOT have a meltdown watching that one. Good stuff that.

I KNEW you would enjoy this one! Great to watch you discovering the genius of Pentatonix, and see the bewilderment as you get Mitch-slapped (happens to every one of us when he hits those high notes). All their "Evolution of..." videos are one-take masterpieces. My favourite is the "Evolution of Michael Jackson."

Scott Tall blonde is the baritone. He and Mitch have They're on side group called Superfruit. Check out their cover of rise. They have songs on there and then they have them just as themselves and they're just so funny And talented. Mitch the gentleman who hit the hi note is countertenor. She actually goes by the name Kirsty which rhymes with thirsty. Scott Mitch and Kirsty all went to high school together Kevin the beat boxer is a beast. He is so talented. He also plays the cello in some of their videos such as radioactive and shallow. He has his own channel KO check out his cover of down by Marian hill. He also beat boxes while playing the cello. He calls it cello boxing He speaks fluent mandarin and graduated from Yale premed. Avi He's the bass and he sings also. He is a bass pro fun do which is the lowest deepest you can go. He has blown out speakers. In 2017 he left Pentatonix on good terms For personal reasons and now has a solo career. Check out change on the rise. I'm so enjoying watching you falling in love with Pentatonix. They cover all genres Of music. They just released 190s a dance metal D.. I think this cover is 100 times better than the original. The original had the since and different people and someone actually playing the Trumpet and PTX does it All with their voice.

Great reaction! Another of my favorites where they rap is PTX Thrift Shop. It's an early video, and the rapping and the harmonies are amazing. Scott (tall blonde guy) and Mitch (high tenor) have a separate channel Superfruit, and they did a couple of videos called Hip Hop Goes Broadway 1 & 2, which are really fun. The two of them also did a cover of Feeling Myself (Nikki Minaj) where Mitch raps a lot. It would be great to see your reaction to any of those.

It’s so great that You’re checking out Pentatonix, I grew up with them and most songs I heard for the first time were actually their covers! They are truly amazing and always surprise You. I agree with some people recommending to check out their original song ”Sing”! I also noticed You’ve reacted to a Blackpink song awhile ago and enjoyed the rapping parts and the beat the most. So in Kpop most groups have this balance (that I personally enjoy a lot) of singing and rapping in their songs. There are also great solo rappers and lots of amazing hip hop music in groups too (just trying to say that not all rapping is mixed with super poppy parts in other songs). I’m not a Blink, even though I enjoy Blackpink’s music a lot, but I’m sure their fans suggested You other great songs from this group! I personally think You’d really like BTS! They started as a hip hop group and do a lot of other genre songs. I’m an ARMY and could recommend a few songs that are very much focused on rapping and I feel like You would enjoy them a lot! Keep in mind that they are a 7 members group and have 3 rappers, so some songs are full group, some just rap line and some - solo, but it’s all still under the BTS group’s name. Make sure to turn on CC for English subtitles! Love it. Ask and you shall receive. As others have told you problem is the closest to this one and their original song sing and superfruit Mitch and Scotts side project Superfruit feeling myself is also a rap. A bit later you probably want to watch their original song "can't sleep love" from the televised in Japan popsprings concert where Mitch does the rap with even more Mitch Grassi sass than usual followed by an EXTREAMLY high note as only Mitch can do it.

MItch is an excellent mimic as well as a fantastic counter-tenor. There's a video out there where he's apparently having a chat with some squeaking Sharpie markers that he and Scott are using to create some signs. It's wonderfully ridiculous.

Some songs where you can here a bit of rapping would be their covers of Starships and Problem. A couple originals where there is a bit of rap would be Sing and Can't Sleep Love (the live version from Popspring 2016 where Mitch raps that's not in the normal version).

Pentatonix has a subunit called Superfruit, which is Scott and Mitch; they did a song called "Fantasy", featuring Amber Liu, the rapper from a (effectively though not officially disbanded) Korean kpop group called f(x), in which she does a little singing as well as rapping. Well worth reacting to (even if it opens up the rabbit hole of f(x) and other kpop...)

Yep, they can rap too! And as for Mitch with his high notes... you aint seen nothing yet, that was just a warm-up for Mitch. 'Love Again' (an original of theirs) is an EDM track with a similar vibe to their Daft Punk Medley... but on steroids. Kevin's beatboxing and Avi's bass combo is INSANE on that one. Oh yeah, and their newly-dropped 90's Dance Medley is briiliant too, if you're looking for something more recent, with their new bass Matt (who replaced Avi in 2017.)

Together with pentatonix they are the holy trinity of acapella :) Home free are mostly country (with great bass Tim Foust), Voiceplay describe themselves as theatre nerds (and they have a phenomenal bass, Geoff Castelluci) and Pentatonix you know :)
