Great reaction! They won a Grammy for arrangement for this video. One thing - when you listed the names of the singers, you got them all right except for "Matt". He was not in the group until a few years after this video was made. The bass singer with the dark beard, Avi Kaplan, left in 2017, and Matt took his place. That is the only change in the group since they formed in 2011. Avi has continued to put out music on his own since 2017. There are a couple hundred Pentatonix videos out there, and if you react to them, we'll be here for it! Check out their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, or their original song Sing! You might also like Avi's solo video Change on the Rise.

I noticed that when I was reading the names. I was going to say I'm sure one of them left and has been replaced cause in the pictures of members it showed Avi but then I wasn't to sure if more people left or not so just thought I'd find out from the fans (: thank you tho for letting me know ✌😊 the music video was AMAZING!

@@ShaneAlanGowerKirstie and Mitch frequently look different, so people will think there's been some other change in the members, but it's always Kirstie or Mitch. Kirstie was only 19 when Pentatonix began, and she is now 31 and has been a mother for just over a year, so her figure is more mature now. She's also had some work done on her lips and she wears a lot of wigs, most of which aren't nearly as obvious as the blue wig in this video. Mitch's weight tended to yo-yo for a while, though it seems to have settled down at a healthy level now, and he's gone through several hair styles and colors. He also changes his facial hair every once in a while. And both of them wear glasses sometimes but not other times. So with Mitch and Kirstie, rely on how they sound, not what they look like; their voices don't lie.

Pentatonix is the only a cappella band to have ever won a Grammy, except they've won three Grammys ("Daft Punk Medley" was the first). They're also the only a cappella band to have a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. You can't go wrong with anything Pentatonix has recorded, but all pentaholics (Pentatonix fans) have our personal favorites. So here's a list of my favorites: • "The Prayer" • "Sound of Silence" • "Bohemian Rhapsody" (the official video) • "Imagine" (the official video) • "Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy" (their second Grammy winner) • "Jolene" (made in collaboration with Dolly Parton, and their third Grammy winner) • "Hallelujah" (the official video, with Avi singing the second verse) • "Hallelujah" (a recent live stream with Matt singing the second verse: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7mJra-gzp6VYJ8.html ) • "O Come All Ye Faithful" • "Run To You" (an original, written by Avi and Kevin) • "Seasons Of Love" (preferably the live Fourth of July performance)

Pentatonix They won The Sing Off in 2011. They made a guest starring appearance on America′s Got Talent as non−competitors a couple of years after that. The founding members are:- Scott Hoying (tall blond guy, natural baritone but has an impressive five−to−six octave range, can go all the way up to high tenor and down to bass, sings the bass lines when the usual bass singer takes the lead); Kirstin "Kirstie" (Rhymes with "Thirsty") Maldonado (the only female member, natural mezzo soprano, but can go down to low alto and as high as upper soprano, also can sing in whistle notes that are off the scale); For a time in 2018 between the group’s tours, had the female lead on Broadway in the production of “Kinky Boots”. Mitch Grassi (a true contra−tenor, can hit high notes in his chest voice with ease and go WAY higher in his falsetto, also with ease); Avriel "Avi" Kaplan (dark beard and long hair), true basso profundo, trained as an opera singer, also can go up into the tenor range; and Kevin "KO" Olusola (beatboxer extraordinaire, also is a world−class cellist who plays cello on some of their songs, has a beautiful high tenor voice and gets occasional lead vocal solos as well, graduated pre−med from Yale and speaks several languages including Mandarin Chinese). Kirstie, Scott & Mitch grew up together in Arlington, Texas, and began performing together as children in local youth musical theater. They ended up in high school together and performed in the choir. While there, they formed an a cappella group called The Trio which had several performance videos go viral on KZfaq, most notably a cover of Lady Gaga′s "Telephone". The three of them are best friends and consider themselves to be almost siblings. Scott & Kirstie (who were a class year ahead of Mitch) both graduated high school in 2010 and went their separate ways to different colleges, Scott at USC and Kirstie at Oklahoma. While at USC, Scott joined a USC−based a cappella group called the SoCal VoCals, where he met alumnus Ben Bram, who was now an arranger and vocal coach for the NBC TV show The Sing Off, an a cappella competition show. Ben convinced Scott to get The Trio to audition for the show. The three reunited (Mitch had to skip high school graduation ceremonies to go) in Los Angeles for the audition. They found out that the rules had changed, so they needed at least five members to audition. Ben put them together with Avi (a native of Visalia, California), who he knew from Avi′s performing days at Mount San Antonio College in California. They found Kevin (from Kentucky) through one of his KZfaq videos that had gone viral featuring him playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time, a talent that Kevin coined as "Cello−Boxing". Kevin arrived in Los Angeles literally the day before the audition! Scott came up with the name "Pentatonix" after the pentatonic scale. They performed a re−arrangement of "The Telephone" for the audition and passed, despite having been together as a five−piece group for less that 24 hours! They won The Sing Off that season (all of the performances are available on KZfaq), in which they received a substantial cash prize AND a record contract with Epic Records. They pooled their prize winnings together and all moved to Los Angeles, and all got apartments right next door to each other in the same building. But just a week later, Epic dropped them because the marketing people didn′t think an a cappella group could sell records. Instead of giving up, they were determined and began recording their own songs on KZfaq, hiring Ben Bram as their producer and arranger. These usually consisted of the five of them sitting on a couch and performing cover songs live. Several of the videos went viral, and Sony (the parent company of Epic) decided to give them another chance by placing them on one of their smaller labels, Madison Gate. They released two secular EPs and one Christmas EP on Madison Gate, all of which were strong sellers. But when their cove r of a medley of songs by Daft Punk not only went super−viral, but also won them their first Grammy, they were promoted all the way up to RCA Records, Sony′s top label. They began writing and producing their own songs in addition to their covers, began putting out a Christmas album just about annually (which has become their best−selling genre), and have had multi−platinum album sales, sold−out world tours, and have won two additional Grammys. Avi began getting burned out with all of the touring and heavy recording schedule, was suffering from anxiety and personal problems, and learned that his mother had been diagnosed with cancer in 2017. He announced he was departing from the group and taking some time away from the music industry. Matt Sallee (from Baltimore) joined them in September 2017. He did only become official when they renewed their RCA contract in February 2018, but he recorded with them in September as a featured artist and went on their Christmas tour as a featured artist, as well. When he attended the audition for the group, he had already mastered the Bass part for most if not all their past catalogue. He was successful and has proved that he fits in well with the group. If you think there have been other changes to the line up - look again. This is the ONLY change. Kirstie and Mitch are like chameleons and change looks frequently. After a year away from music, Avi has now returned as a phenomenal solo artist in the Folk/Americana/Roots genre. Ben Bram has been in charge of their production, including arranging and directing from the beginning. He is often referred to as the sixth member. Scott and Kevin are major players in the arrangements, but every member contributes. A good watch is "The Recording of Evergreen" where a camera was invited into the studio for the second week of recording/ Also, all members are songwriters for both Pentatonix and their own solo work. Ed Boyer who mixes everything of theirs (even the HWB Livestream) is the one who pulled Ben Bram into the sing off in the first place. They have Grammy wins for Daft Punk Medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene featuring Dolly Parton. They were nominated for a 4th Grammy for their album Evergreen, but didn't win. Kirstie became a new mum which caused a pause in touring after their Evergreen Christmas tour 2021. Mid March 2023 Kirstie has announced that she is engaged to Ben Hausdorff, their videographer. No dates YET! They have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame installed in February 2023. They are the only a capella group with a star! They came 3rd in the 2023 Masked Singer performing as "California Rolls" being unmasked in May 23. Things you need to know because if you get these wrong Pentaholics will come after you with pitch forks and torches! Ha Ha!! 1- There is NO Auto-Tune; what you hear is actually what they sing. They really are that good. One exception is the 90's Dance Medley where Cher used autotune as an effect - so they had to. 2- What produces everything that you hear in the video, you see in the official video. If there is an instrument used in the music, you see it on screen. In the 2022 Christmas album, there are some instruments not featured throughout the album. 3- They never release something on video they can’t reproduce with the exact same quality live on-stage.

PTX is the a cappella group to break into the main stream music. They are paving the way for all others to follow them. In learning about PTX I have noticed that they are about the music and not egos. They want the best for all other bands and groups, this is just my opinion of what I have seen. Love Again is an original that you would enjoy.

Enjoyable reaction. Please keep reacting to Pentatonix, they are outstanding. Their biggest song is Hallelujah. Both the official video and their live concert performance in their 2016 Christmas Special are brilliant. If you're tired of The Sound Of Silence try Imagine or their original Love Again, which has a similar feel to Daft Punk and I think it's just as good. But if you can face more The Sound Of Silence sometime both Pentatonix's and Forestella's versions are well worth watching.

Loved the reaction man! You looked like you were really enjoying it with chair dancing, stand up dancing and air drums lol and I am totally here for that energy! If you react - we pentaholics will come and flock to your channel. We love first time reactors discovering the PTX rabbit hole of amazing alien beings with voices of angels here! Anything from their massive collection is good - you really can't go wrong with anything they've done. They do not disappoint. I know you said you were done with Sound of Silence. Maybe listen to a few of their different ones and then come back to their version of Sound of Silence. It really showcases Matt, the bass that replaced Avi in 2017. Some of my favorites from them are 'Popspring 2016', 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Problem', 'Can't Hold us', 'New Rules x Are You That Somebody', 'A Little Space ft ATEEZ', Any of their Evolutions (Music, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Arianna Grande, and Rhianna), and 'Wizard of Ahhhs'. You might have to use filters or lower opacity on videos with PTX reactions. Their label can be really rabid on blocking their videos. Usually the trigger is the video itself, thus why I suggest lowering opacity and/or using a filter over the video to distort it a bit, also a lot of other reactors I watch put up a lot of text over the video such as 'blocked due to copyright purposes' on top of doing the opacity trick. Seems to work for them with the words added. Very rarely is the sound a trigger for an SME block but sometimes it is so pausing a lot to give commentary helps as well. Also please if you do more PTX videos, make a playlist for them so it is easier to binge your reactions and recommend ones you haven't seen yet, us pentaholics will thank you! Subbed for more

New subscriber, here for PTX and you, loved your energy. Kevin Olusola is the beatboxer extraordinaire, among his many other talents. Hallelujah and Bohemian Rhapsody are the natural songs to recommend next, so you can get an idea of their versatility. You may want to check out their 90s Dance Medley and then maybe Mad World for a more introspective sound. Honestly, any title you choose will be stellar. Standard new guy notes: There’s been only one change in the line-up, the bass singer, although Kirstie and Mitch can look different through the years. It’s always them. Also, we don’t mind if you have to obscure the video to get the reactions to post. And their originals are excellent too, try Coffee in Bed and Sing. Happy to have found you! Peace …

There are 7 Daft Punk songs in this mashup (although it looked like you already knew that!): Technologic, One More Time, Get Lucky, Digital Love, Harder-Better-Faster-Stronger, Television Rules the Nation, Around the World. You mentioned that PTX did a cover of "Sound of Music" - which they sort of have (My Favorite Things), but I think you probably meant "Sound of Silence", since you said you'd already listened to a lot of covers of it, and I don't think all that many people cover "Sound of Music"! But if you don't want to do Sound of Silence right now, you can always react to Bohemian Rhapsody, My Favorite Things (you knew it was coming, right?), Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (their 2nd Grammy win), Somebody That I Used to Know (one of their early viral videos on YT), Say Something (have tissues handy), Run To You, My Heart With You

Just to emphasize what you've already said, "The Wizard of Ahhhs" makes no sense unless you're already familiar with the 1939 movie _The Wizard of Oz,_ starring Judy Garland. So reactors should make sure they've seen the original movie before watching the homage; it will greatly improve their experience.
