My brother and I used to sing that as a duet when we were kids but since I was younger and a girl, I so had to sing the higher Philip Bailey part. I always got mad but grew up to be a musi major (not a vocal major but we DID have to practice sight singing which I HATED!) so I appreciate why.

Back in 1988, Phil played the lead in a movie called "Buster." "Two Hearts" is a song from that film's soundtrack. Oh, and there are movie clips in this video (assuming you haven't seen the movie). I believe the other track is titled "Groovy Kind of Love," which is another great song. Phil is one of my all-time favourite recording artists so I never get tired of hearing his music.

Remember when Ringtones and Ringback tones first came out with real songs to choose from and you had to pick One for the year, otherwise you were paying 4.99 per song change? After listening to every song Verizon offered and considering everyone around me would hear it when it rang… I chose Wish It Would Rain Down, because of Clapton’s guitar and Phil’s voice. My heart felt that anyone who heard it out in public would like it too and those who knew it would close their eyes and sway their heads along with the music nostalgia. I even got a hat tip from my older brother for making him listen to it before leaving a voicemail at the beep. Pretty sure Amber was a baby when Ringbacks were popular. Fun times.

"Serious Hits Live" is indeed one of the very few times when - IMO - an artist has done a fair few of their songs better than they did in the studio. Of course on the quiet songs it still has idiots in the audience making stupid noises which gets very annoying after a couple of listens, but the live versions of "Do you Remember" and "Another Day in Paradise" and others are top notch!

Phil Collins was fearless. He could be serious, 'hip', or totally nerdy and silly. He could bear his soul, but he always gave his whole soul. His movie 'Buster' needed an original song to sound like a '60s tune, so he wrote one. He grew up playing R&B and knew all the great artists, so he asked one of the best '60s composers to help him, Lamont Dozier. Collins always worked with the best!

I love her reaction to Phil’s vocal dip on Hearts at 5:50 Phil just has incredible energy and is able to emote so well as a singer. Some singers you listen to and you love what their voice does for the song but it’s just a voice. It does the job. How many songs did Phil Collins do for Tarzan? Released on Walt Disney Records, the soundtrack contains five songs by Phil Collins and five tracks of score by Mark Mancina. In addition to being on the soundtrack of the film "Buster," this song is a pastiche and a tribute to the classic Motown sound of the '60s. It was co-written by Lamont Dozier, one of the great songwriters of the legendary Motown songwriting team Holland-Dozier-Holland. Collins also recorded a cover of the Motown classic "You Can't Hurry Love" a couple of years before this one.
@dennisstaines8005

You may notice the 60's style film in the background which is where Phil plays the role (yes as an actor) of Buster Edwards who was one the Great Train Robbers who robbed a train of 2.6 Million pounds in 1963 which was transporting unneeded bank notes. Buster was the comedian of the gang. "Groovy Kind of Love" was on the soundtrack. Very good film and Phil was very good. Phil is brilliant and Pete Townsend of Genesis said they waited until Phil released a new single and after listening to it they said "Oh god he has done it again" meaning every song he wrote was exceptional along with his performance. A brilliant artist and performer.

Phil's blue-eyed soul really comes out on this one because he had the honor of co-writing it with legendary Motown composer Lamont Dozier. And this was the last of three videos in which he used the "MultiPhils' gag, the others being "You Can't Hurry Love" and "Missed Again". However, for a highly entertaining video, I recommend you try the clip for Phil's 1985 hit "Don't Lose My Number". Have fun!

Phil Collins maybe doesn't have the fireworks of some other artists but he's just so talented. Sings, plays drums, and writes. He wrote a lot of the songs on the Tarzan soundtrack,"You'll be in my heart" was written for his daughter Lily. Saw Phil Fall of 2019 in San Francisco. Although he was not physically able to play drums (or even stand up at that point) the show was stellar! He sounded great. Keep on rocking! ✌

This is a classic track for all kinds of reasons. Nobody seems to have mentioned that this track was co-written and co-produced by Lamont Dozier - one third of the Motown 1960s writing powerhouse of Holland-Dozier-Holland (they probably wrote most of your favourite Motown hits). Obviously that is why this song very much has that classic motown feel to it.

Wow! What a great song. The up tempo beat disguises the lyrics which are truly sad. I didn't realize this until I read the liner notes to this song.

Was made for the 1988 movie Buster-about thief Buster Edwards-and got nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song- with the winner being Carly Simon's "Let the River Run" from Working Girl instead. The two songs tied at the Golden Globes though.

Phil's version of "A Groovy Kind Of Love" is actually a cover. "Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders" had the original hit. They were part of the "British Invasion" of the American charts in the 60's. Phil Collins covered it his lead role in the film "Buster", in which he played one of the Great Train robbers, Buster Edwards. This was one of the most famous heists in British Criminal history. At the time the most expensive with a take of 2 million pounds in 1963. A film you should watch in your film reactions channel. The driver of the train was assaulted and never worked again.

Y'all should listen to Brand X. They're mostly instrumental fusion jazz, but Phil Collins was the drummer in that band on several of their albums. Phil also has a live album called "The Phil Collins Big Band" and they do a long version of "Pick Up The Pieces" by Average White Band. Also listen to "Which Way The Wind Blows" by original Genesis guitarist Anthony Phillips that Phil sang on. Phil & Anthony were not in Genesis at the same time. There's 2 TV show appearances on KZfaq of the band Flaming Youth, when Phil was a teenager.

This wasn't the first time Phil depicted himself as every member of a band, he did it before in the video for "I missed again" but in that one, while he did portray every single musician in the band, he actually wasn't playing any instruments.

I'm in the middle of his autobiography, "Not Dead Yet." Really fascinating how he grew up in theater, but was hesitant enough on stage that he originally only felt safe behind his drum kit. When Peter Gabriel left Genesis, and Phil became the default lead singer, it was quite the eye opener for him. But then he started doing his own music, away from Genesis. But I'm only to 1981 so far...long way to go!

This song "Two Hearts" was on the soundtrack to the only film he starred in, 'Buster', about a British robber who moved to South America after a crime, and it had to do with the relationship with the wife. The soundtrack had some great stuff.

Loads of great songs by Phil Collins still out there waiting for you! Try some live versions! Next to being a great musician he also has always been an exceptional entertainer. And his live band was terrific! And please, try some old Genesis pieces. "Firth Of Fifth" is a magical piece of music, a monolith that's been out for 50 years now! Phil's drumming is excellent on that one. It's one of those 70's prog works that take you on a journey - like the much loved by you Pink Floyd.
