I cannot tell you just how important this song was to us growing up in Brooklyn, NY. Still one of my favorites on regular rotation. This was a HUGE song for clubbing, breakdancing, skating, and of course, cruising in a big long Cadillac. BEST times of my life!!!!🔥🔥🔥 This is early hip/hop dance 😊 BRAVO for reacting to this!!!!

I knew that there was no way in hell this generation would connect to this song. It is so specific to that time period you you have to have grown up in that time period. I couldn’t wait til the barking I knew he was going to be like WTF 😂😂😂😂. I nearly fell off my chair with laughter hysterical. This was one of my all time favorites. Love this song.

@@spotlYghtseeker I am 21 and grew up with this song because of my dad, my uncle, and my cousins they played this all the time when my siblings and I were little so we picked up on the same taste of music my whole play list is 50s 60s 70s 80s and 90s music with all genres.

Planet Rock was the song that started it all in 82'' with that similar 808 kick beat. The song Planet Rock was so big in 1982" The planet patrol tried to follow up the next year by making this song Play at your own Risk, But Afrika Bammbaata's planet Rock was hard to top because it was new And it wasn't anything that sounded like it at that time in 1982"or before 82" These types of songs were a representation of the B.Boy Breakdancin Era in the early mid 80s🎶😎

Yes, exactly but the thing that really was hysterical. Was when they had all the farm sounds like on the remix. I was just waiting for this kid to see and hear the part with the dog and I was like rolling on the floor laughing my ass off because I could tell he just wanted to bust out laughing because it’s just like I just knew that the reaction was going to be like what the F is this, so imagine if he heard that version with all the farm animals oh my God yeah definitely this type of song is so particular to that time. I don’t think that it would resonate with anybody of this generation, but this is my favorite song way better than planet rock.

The same backing track from Planet Rock was used. They overdubbed with keys and wrote song over it. This was one of the first black dance records (Electro-funk) to use the 808.
@warpos
@warpos 3 жыл бұрын
Bl@ck? Maybe you dont know regarding their producers...look at the song's history. Their producers/arrangers are musical masters, indeed, and anything but bl@ck, but anyways we are in the age of cultural aproppiation. And that without looking at b-boying and graffiti. Racism from any side just tarnish that golden era where anyone can became a star. Hip hop began as as melting pot. Just ask Mr. Wiggles, Mr. Wave, Poppin Taco or Crazy Legs💁‍♂️.
@xhy20x
@xhy20x 3 жыл бұрын
@@warpos It is black. Although Arthur Baker produced it, Afrika Bambaataa directed the programmer to program the beat. The melody was influenced by Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express" . Robert Palmer of The New York Times as "perhaps the most influential black pop record of 1982". The culture is black, with outside influences. I was of the Times. I noticed that you find the term black offensive, that's why you deliberately misspelt it. This is of my time. If you don't believe me, watch the documentary 808. Electro-funk is black, Hip-Hop's origins are black (Kool Herc), youth culture is black, all new musical art forms are black. Other nationalities are always welcome. In everything we create as black people, we welcome everybody. Our creative force is undenyable and formidable.

Now that you herd this check out Africa Bambaataa & the Soul Sonic Force - Planet Rock & Play at your own risk. This style of music wasn't only for break dancing it was used in roller skating too. This was also great for djing cause it kept the crowd hyped in the clubs & we could do spicing & doubling the beat or a certain part of the vocals in the song when you had doubles of the same record. You could mix it with curtain Disco songs too. Electro funk style groups like: Shock, Art of Noise, Bill Summers, Jonzun Crew, Kraft Werks & you could mix it also early house tracks. So if you need to hype the crowd these group & songs will do it.

If you want to get the real 'back-beat' for this song, you've got to listen to 'Trans-Europe Express' by Kraftwerk, a German group that recorded their song back in 1977! This reaction was hysterical to watch.😂 this is the type of track that if you didn’t grow up in that time there is no way it would resonate with you. I couldn’t wait for the barking part lmao 🤣 I knew this generation would have a WTF reaction to this song 😂😂😂. Also these songs did go on for a long time 5 to 7 mins because people did break dance but also the 80s was all about dancing there isn’t a lot of good dance music these days. But ultimately the drum machines back in those days were very primitive so they also added to the corny sound of the music. Sounded like someone hitting a pot with a metal ladle.
