Apollonia in the 'Purple rain' movie is Apollonia Kotero (she's 61 now, but still gorgeous! 😍) I saw a recent interview of her... she talked about Prince & the movie... Prince's then-gf and singer Vanity was originally cast, but they broke up and she bailed on the movie... So Apollonia ( who was a model, aspiring singer, and then dating David Lee Roth of Van Halen) auditioned & got the part. She was never Prince's gf, but the 2 became friends & he wrote songs for her & her group Apollonia 6. She said she and Prince stayed friends & kept in touch, until his untimely passing... and she was devastated... The Revolution was Prince's early band... but he disbanded them in the 80's and created the New Power Generation (NPG) which consisted of a revolving cast of musicians & vocalists that he used on tour and in the studio.

He was known in the music industry as hard to work with because he was a PERFECTOINIST! He wrote alot of songs and played many instruments so he knew what he wanted to envision. Many people didn't have the patience for it!! Not really an asshole, just tough to understand!! I heard it first hand from music sound engineers that worked with him in 80's. Just some real info for u!♥️👍

Well his sound engineer Peggy McCreary and Susan Rodgers said nothing like that. Wasn't hard to work with at all. He knew what he wanted and expected the same work ethic from those around him.

I have a very clear memory from fifth grade. When the weather was bad or when it was cold, we'd have recess indoors and we were allowed to play records in the classroom (Yes, I'm that old). One day, we played Let's Go Crazy, and at the part when he says, "Ah, ah, is all I heard," a bunch of us did the move he does in the video. We were 10. My teacher was horrified at first then started laughing.

Actually, Price is commonly one of the most under rated guitarist; he was an excellent guitarist, with a very clean, & composed style, almost shredding as if classically composed, usually with drama & flair! Oh yeah... the whole cream pie of the song, was that guitar solo, not just his best, but one of the all-time best guitar solo's period! Prince wrote a song for Paula Abdul as a thank you for doing the choreography for Prince's Batdance video. Paula stop doing choreography for other people because she had to focus on her career and her own dance moves. And came out of retirement for Prince.

For the first 20 years of his career,he could come up with lyrics,and a rudimentary melody.It was his band that pumped those simple,rough ideas up into the songs we know.It wasn't until the late 1990's that he had enough musical and engineering knowledge to put out a complete piece of work on his own.When people throw accolades around,they are really blind to what goes into it,and often overlook a lot of talented people.Nobody gets to where he was on their own

You got a bad sample man. That first part where you heard him saying two different things at once, those parts were supposed to be separate. THE ELEVATOR line… that is a metaphor. Notice that he did end up dying in the elevator in his house. Poetic huh. I saw an interview where one of his friends said what prince told him that the elevator means.
