I loved the Sos Band, Midnight Star, Atlantic Star, Slave and other groups when I was a pre teen going into my teen age years! Zapp was a huge hit maker and the UK had so many talented and unique artists like Loose Ends, Culture Club, Wham with the great George Michael's, UB40, etc etc! It was just so much great and different music being created!

Everything But The Girl Shakatak Basia Swing Out Sister Those are all bands that I have to specifically look for. Their music won't be promoted here in the United States. The UK has some superior music makers.

You just scratched the surface with the S.O.S. Band. One of the best R&B groups of all time. This was their 1st hit and has sold over 2 million copies itself.

The first time I heard this song, I was stationed in the Phillipines for 18 months. I JUST rotated back to the US and was on leave at my parents in Philly. Suffering from jet lag, somebody was walking down the street with this booming outta a Boombox. It woke me up out of a dead sleep, it was so dope. Got dressed and went straight to the record store. 😂👍🏿

This is why I've subscribed to your channel, Ashley. While I was dancing when the DJ had this playing; back in 1980, I didn't 'take my time' and listen to it intricately. I didn't know how good The SOS Band had made this song sound. The only thing I paid attention to was when she (Mary Davis?) put an emphasis on "take your TIME, do it RIGHT, do it toNIGHT' growling technique she used.

One of my favorite songs! And I've been a soul/funk junkie since 1980. As a 13 yro already I fell in love with voices. Had no idea who sang, what they looked like. Fun fact: This is the first joint thst Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced outside of the Prince regime. Prince wasn't paying enough money 9and forbade his artist to work with anyone outside the camp. So Jimmy and Terry went to Atlanta to produce this at the request of Clarence Avant (Do your research on him!!!!!!.......mind blowing). They wind up getting stuck in s snow storm and Prince found out they did work elsewhere and promptly fired them and the rest is history. FACTS💯

Those were the days young folks actually danced, and it was cool for girl with boys to dance together. Stamina was not a problem, and the person you danced with did not have to be a love interest or someone whom you were attracted to. It was just about young folks enjoying partying and hanging out together. One thing was for sure, you did not have go to the gym, at the end of the night, you would have had a whole cardio, and felt good about it.

Come on old school, send this young lady, the ' live ' video's, so she can see these classic artist perform. She's doing an Outstanding job as it is. Let's put her in that old school time machine, with them singing live. Mary Davis, the female lead singer , blows it up with, " I'm Wishing On A Star and " Love Don't Live Here Anymore ",,, but the album was played, instead of the Mary singing it live.
