Great song choice, Sarah is a Canadian treasure - fantastic voice, great songwriter and founder of Lilith Fair, an all-female artist tour back in the 90s. Peace and love from Canada!

Agree Sarah is amazing! Another fabulous Canadian female voice that doesn't get enough attention IMO is KD Lang. Her rendition of Hallelujah is sublime, as is Crying. Shivers.

She is so one of ours must say....I don't know any Canadian that doesn't at least go "yeah okay fair enough". By that I mean I don't know anybody who would say anything bad about her. She even has the Order of Canada I think? I can't even think of a song that is not just angelic by her.....have had a crush on her since was 17 though so might be bias...lol...But got to recommend anything from Fumbling Towards Ecstasy...its all good...good to see you react to Canadian artist...maybe the Hip next? lol

The ladies did very well in the 90s. It was such a fertile musical decade, and there seemed to be room for so many styles. Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Natalie Imbruglia, Natalie Merchant, Jewel, Bjork, Fiona Apple, Paula Cole, Alanis Morrisette, Lisa Loeb, Aimee Mann, Joan Osborne, plus quite a few really good female fronted bands as well like No Doubt, Garbage, Elastica, Mazzy Star, and others.

Sarah is fantastic! I love "Posession" , " Adia" and "Building A Mystery" as well as "I Will Remember You" She founded the Lilith Fair Concerts. She is a wonderful writer and has a beautiful Angelic voice. PLEASE, I beg of you skip "Angel" It really is a gorgeous song but the commercials tear me up...AND THEY LAST SO LONG!!!!😭

Yep, it was the first album of hers I bought. When I popped it into my PC CD player, I saw that it had a Windows multi-media thing, so I checked it out and it had her past catalog on there. I checked that out and found out there were other songs of hers that I knew and had no idea! So, I went down the rabbit hole and over time pretty much collected every single one of her albums, and even some bootlegs. She was my absolute favorite for a long time. Went to Lillithfair one year in '99 I think it was and got to meet her in person after winning a radio contest during her Afterglow album tour and promotion.

Sarah McLaughlin "POSSESSION" ❤️(original video). The lyrics were taken straight from her stalker's letters to her (he went to prison). Somehow she had the ability to turn it into such an incredible song! Such courage and talent to do that.

I do have to offer up a correction on this. The guy tried to sue Sarah about the lyrics, but before that trial happened he ended up committing suicide.

That’s the word I use for her voice as, ethereal. I was fortunate enough to see her once at Neil Young’s “Bridge School” benefit concert (I think that’s what it’s called) in the Bay Area. Truly an amazing talent.

Probably her breakout song was "Possession" which is fabulous. An ethereal, hypnotic, otherworldly track by her is titled "I Love You" and is just incredible.

Agreed. My girlfriend, now wife, saw Sarah live with Lisa Loeb opening on the Surfacing (this album) tour. I was one of the few guys in the audience. Believe it or not, I was the one who turned my wife on to the greatness that is, Sarah McLachlan. Possession is my fav track off Fumbling.

I"m also glad that you finally hit some Sarah. I love her gorgeous voice. Her "Fumbling Toward Esctasy" album is one of my all time favorites. Her big hit "Possession" is off that album as well as my favorite of hers "Ice". Another suggestion is a song that she did a guest appearance on for the group Delerium on their "Karma" album called "Silence'. It is an awesome song.

Sarah has a very ethereal voice... and I love how she can make her voice crack on key and it sounds so right. She's has a number of beautiful songs... One of my favorites is a song she lent her voice to for another group... Delerium... the song was "Silence"

I was entranced by her songwriting and her voice back in the 90’s. This song has always been my favorite of hers. It wasn’t a huge hit, but got a lot of airplay on Indie and alternative stations in Vermont where I lived at the time. Glad to see you reacting to it!

@@daleperkins4901 I was in Winooski and South Burlington from 94 to March 98. Moved to New Orleans for work. We loaded our Uhaul that day in late March while a foot of snow fell, lol. It confirmed my decision to leave! Now I get to dodge tornadoes and evacuate for hurricanes. I used to drive every two weeks to Albany, went through your area on 22A IIRC and on over to Glens Falls to hit the Thruway south. I do miss the scenery!

Love, Sarah's music, dating back to seeing her at a small club in Connecticut when she was just starting out. Jay and Amber, any of her music is worthwhile listening to, but important to know she's dedicated much of her career fighting racism and poverty, and advocating for shelter animals, women's rights and other causes... in other words, she's a really cool person beyond her obvious musical talent.

Nice song to introduce you to Sarah, she's an incredible artist. This cut is from her Surfacing album, which is really really good. Check out Building a Mystery from the same album, it's jaw dropping good. Possession from her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy album is another favorite of mine. Oh, wow! I've been following you two amazing humans for some time now and can't believe I just now discovered an old Sarah McLachlan reaction! I remember having to drive to Houston to get her album way back in the early 90's, because it was an independent release and there was no market in my city. A few years later, I was in Austin watching her produce, create and headline Lilith Fair with so many of the talented women you have reacted to on your channel. This past year, I went to her concert in San Diego to celebrate the 30 years between driving to Houston for that album and now. If there is one thing I can say about that show is that her voice has only gotten better, fuller, more resound and THICK. I was floored. She is an angel, incredible vocalist and such a huge contributor of female power.

You have to listen to Sarah’s “In The Arms of an Angel”, it is so beautiful ( Laci Peterson’s mother had this played at Laci’s funeral). Also “ I Will Remember You”, is one of my favourites. Sarah is our Canadian angel.

I saw her in concert and her voice is just amazing. Of course you need to do I will remember you and Angel. And yes, as much as I love her voice… When ‘the commercial’ came on with her song in the background I had to switch stations are I would cry.

So glad you're reacting to Sarah McLachlan. I don't see other reactors listening to her music, and it's a shame because she's brilliant. I strongly recommend, "Adia", "Building A Mystery", "Possession", and from her 1st album, "Vox". "Vox" really shows off her vocal range so strongly and beautifully, yet it's a bop of a song. Paula Cole is awesome. I remember when she was Peter Gabriel's backup singer on his Secret World tour. One of the best live shows I've ever seen.

Mirrorball is one of her earlier live albums which is my absolute favorite of hers! I’ve listened to her every single day for years and I can’t seem to get enough of her sweet calming voice‼️ Great reaction and would LOVE to hear more from her extensive catalog‼️ ❤️fromOregon🇺🇸

Sarah isn't that well known here in the UK - she's never had a top 10 single or album in the UK. If there's one album I can highly recommend, it's "Solace". It's a masterpiece with no filler tracks and perhaps a peak that she never quite reached in the rest of her (long) career. "Sweet Surrender" is fine, but is by no means her best song.

Yes, Sarah McLachlan is really good. And I agree with many others on the next two suggested songs from her. Yes, both of these songs are tragic. And both of these songs could be considered her "signature songs". "Angel" .... and ... "I Will Remember You" Let me offer a few more from her that I like. The first is one a couple of others also suggested. "Ice Cream" The other two that I like are: "I Love You" And perhaps the most heart-wrenching one to me: "Do What You Have To Do" Hope you enjoy more Sarah!

Love Sarah, but I am not gonna lie. This is one of my least favorite of hers. I am not sure why. One cool thing, she is hearing impaired and still has such perfect pitch. I think that is awesome.
