As a 15 year-old kid in 1997 this blew me away and gave me a genre of music to finally love. I was listening to random MJ and Beach Boys stuff here and there, some New Edition and other pop... but I couldn't really define what I was into. I had no idea what I liked until I heard "Welcome to the Jungle" off this album. I heard that and said, YES! THIS is what I like! The whole album is amazing and I've been a hard rocker / metalhead ever since.

Have you watched the Freddie tribute concert? George Michael actually did the best of everyone. GNR did a song then Axel Rose did one with Elton John. If you look on KZfaq you can find the entire concert with proceeds going to AIDS RESEARCH. Also, you can look up the rehearsals for the Freddie Tribute concert. Watch David Bowie blown away by George Michael… also Slash and Brian May jamming. There are several videos and interviews by the band members that participated in the event

@@JokerInk-CustomBuilds I loved both. I would say in that era Metallica was #1 popular, but G&R was a close second. And I thoroughly enjoyed both - at least from studio recorded albums. The biggest difference between the two was their live performances. No contest Metallica was best live performance - G&R couldn't hold a candle to them. The craziest thing is I saw this band at a roller skating rink in Ontario Canada. They opened for The Cult. Not many people knew who G&R were including me. They were booed when they played and the Cult's singer Ian Astburry came onto the stage to chastise the crowd! Unbelievable, they were nobody's and the next day were mega stars. When the Cult came on they started with Bad Fun, the power went out 3 songs in. After maybe 15mins the power was fixed and they started the set from the beginning! At the end during the encore Astburry was on top of the speaker tower ripping down the ceiling tiles saying they'll never play in a venue like this again. That's roughly 40 years ago. Crazy. I certainly wish I had payed closer attention to that opening band called Gun's and Roses...a few people were wearing G&R Tshirts. Those people knew something, not that the Cult weren't awesome they were. I had no idea I was walking into a place where a diamond was forming. And it makes for a great rock and roll story. ✌️

Fun fact about Axl Rose: The Guns N' Roses vocalist has sung notes that span nearly six octaves, from F1 (in There Was a Time), in the second-lowest octave in scientific pitch notation, to B flat 6 (Ain't it Fun), five octaves above it. Rose has a lower baritone than Barry White, and can reach higher notes than Tina Turner and Beyoncé.
