Most don't know this song was retribution for the abuse he received by his parents, instead of a song that was filled with hate, he decided to write a beautiful song in retribution. Cut that little child, inside of me and such a part of you. Was the emotional outcry to his parents about taking way his innocence as a child.

Billy said once he had his own kid he looks back and wondered why parents would do things they do to kids and the damage it does. He doesn't want to make the same mistakes they did with him. Pumpkins were an awesome band.

Hi Sarah. An absolutely magical song from Smashing Pumpkins. I have loved it from the moment I first heard it in the 90s. Billy Corgan has a very distinctive voice and many people struggle with it which is a shame. I think he is one of the Great Songwriters and his body of work is astonishing. The double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is one of the most incredible examples of why the 90s were amazing. if you are interested in another song to check out by them try Bullet With Butterfly Wings. You won't regret it!🦋

Sarah you need some SADE on your channel. Who's SADE? (shah-DAY), is a Nigerian-born British singer, known as the lead singer of her eponymous band. One of the most successful British female artists in history, she is often recognized as a major influence on contemporary music. 🤞✌ SWEETEST TABOO Live 2011

Back story of this song is heartbreaking, but as a song it's incredible. Amazing band and unfortunately very underrated and little known these days.

I was scrolling thru your reactions while this reaction played so I didn't get to see the video to notice what stringed instrument they were using. When you were speaking on the meaning of the lyrics, the _violence_ in me is the _violence_ in you, your accent sounded like violins. Then I listened further & understood you were saying violence, but then I wondered if they used violins 🎻 in the song & if that was part of the expression of that idea? It's crazy the thoughts and ideas I get from watching reactions to music I'm super familiar with, whether they're valid or not. I couldn't have done it without you and the other reactors I watch. Thank you so much and keep going with your exploration. I love it.

Saw them live for the first time last month in Anaheim. They didn't play Disarm or Mayonaise, but nevertheless it was a phenomenal show. Can't wait to see them again!

Yeah, listening to the Smashing Pumpkins is like seeing flickering lights in a sea of despair. But man, when they bring the energy, storm, or light. Hope you're loving the experience!

You got it right. He wrote this song on the brink of suicide. He’s speaking to his abusive parents who didn’t think twice about scarring him for life.

The killer in me is the killer in you.. at the verge of a life changing choice between two people, the killer of the old person are in both persons. The killer in me then is also the killer of you then. Form then on a new life begin, together in one choice. What I choose is my choice... be it the killer of the old to get to the new in another.
