71 year old BTS Army here. Jungkook or JK for short is the main vocalist for the Global phenomenon BTS. His label announced this solo track as a subtle homage to Michael Jackson. This was his third Official solo release leading up to his album "Golden". None of JK's solo releases are Kpop. They are all American productions and should not be considered Kpop for that reason. Even his dancers are famous American dancer/choreographers. He once stated that he wanted to be a "giant pop star", and that meant launching into the American pop market. This song was written and produced by Grammy Award winning Producer of the Year Andrew Watt and a team of notable American/Canadian songwriters Cirkut, Jon Bellion and Ali Tamposi. It was produced by the Canadian producer/songwriter known as Cirkut. It was recorded at Watt's L.A. Studio and the video was filmed at an abandoned power plant in Budapest, Hungary. Andrew Watt has produced albums for Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, the Rolling Stones new album and other notables. The Canadian producer Cirkut also has impressive credits such as producing for "The Weeknd" and others. Watt and Cirkut plus others from their team of songwriters were also involved with his first official solo release "Seven" Feat. Latto and also his album "Golden". Seven broke streaming records right out of the gate and was followed by another hit "3D" Feat. Jack Harlow. "seven is the fastest song in history to reach 100 million streams and is now over 1.4 billion. There is an Usher Remix Performance Video of this Jungkook track that you will like. Usher featured it on his new album released last Feb. JK's album "Golden" is now over 2.5 billion streams. I am 54 and grew up on rock and metal, but BTS is my favorite group. This was only one member of BTS, not the full group. All members did solo albums before going into the military, which is mandatory in South Korea. Currently, all members are in now. Jin, one of the members will be out next month in time to celebrate 11 year anniversary of BTS. I recommend Magic Shop live performance with English subtitles to see all the members in a life performance. If you want a music video, Black Swan would be a nice start. BTS has 3 rappers and 4 vocalist. They have a wide range of genres they do.

Guys this was not Bts, this was Jungkook solo song and the dancers was all famous choregraphers, And Jungkook did a remix whid this song whid Usher. His Album Golden is all in english. All members did solo songs or Album in 2023 beacuse te had to enlist in th military, all members is serving now but Jin is finish next month the 12 he joined the military in 2022

So, you’d be surprised to hear that a huge number of BTS fans - including myself - are familiar with MJ. I even saw him in concert in Paris back in the 80’s. BTS fans (and by extension, Jung Kook fans) are diverse in every possible that is possible to be diverse…not the least of which is age. We range from little kids to 80 year adults and everything in between. Welcome to our bora world!

Many of BTS fans are my age and older. Im 36. So I grew up with MJ too in the 90s but def saw his earlier songs too and Im sure lots of army did as well. This is def a tribute to MJ dance. Thanks for the reaction!

Enjoyed your reaction! I've been ARMY (BTS fan) since 2020 during COVID, but a music lover since the 1950's. What an amazing group BTS is! There's seven of them, all with different personalities, but each one so talented, humble, sweet, and smart, and they sound amazing as a group or solo. They write, compose and produce, and many of their songs are about mental health, societal expectations put on youth (and adults), and loving yourself. They literally save me mentally when I was going through some pretty serious health problems. Their lyrics are pretty deep so sometimes I need to watch an explanation video or get help from ARMY's comments. BTS has a large fan base not only of younger girls but people of all ages Including those of us who are over sixty. There's something very special about these young men . I'm sixty six and totally a fan girl of BTS.

The majority of ARMY are over 25. They guys themselves are 26-32. You'd be hard-pressed to find an AMRY that DOESN'T know MJ. Taj Jackson even reacted to their MV "Dynamite" and thanked them for doing such an wonderful tribute to his uncle.

BigHit/Hybe, the BTS label/company actually said that this was intended as a gentle tribute to Michael Jackson, who has been an inspiration to the members of BTS (and Jungkook in particular) for many years. Standing Next To You is the title track from Jungkook’s solo album Golden, in which he chose to explore his love of western pop. All the songs on it are written, composed and produced by westerners, sung in English and recorded in the US, so the connection to k-pop is mainly JK’s nationality (although BTS’s main producer did act as recording engineer on most of the tracks). He chose songs which would give him an opportunity as a soloist to try a range of styles within the theme of romantic love and its ups and downs (not many BTS songs are about simple romantic love… one of the ways in which they confound the stereotype of a ‘boyband’). Each of the members has released solo songs/music at times over the 11 years since they debuted as BTS, so it doesn’t mean that they’ve disbanded. They paused releasing group music in 2022 in order to explore their individual creative directions while preparing to enter their 18 to 21 month military service, which is compulsory in South Korea. They are very talented and diverse individual artists. The first of them to enlist, Jin, will complete his service in about a month (June 2024) and all of them will be back together by the end of June 2025. My suggestions to get a small flavour of BTS as a group would be Black Swan and ON Kinetic Manifesto (both part of their multi-album cycle exploring Jungian psychology) and a couple of older songs, Fire and Danger. Their roots are in Hip Hop and because the three rappers in the group are the main songwriters that is still their foundation, but they have explored and incorporated a very wide variety of genres in their huge discography (~400 songs and counting).

Nice reaction, I‘m one of the older ARMYs too, 63. JK made his album Golden with non korean producers he wanted to show his singing variety first. But he composed and produced songs by himself before, all BTS members are highly talented! The Album came out November 3rd and he had to enlist on December 12th, but in that time he was so busy performing, the top was a concert in Seoul! I saw here many saying you should react to ON manifesto kinetic MV, this is a video interesting from dancing view, ON original MV is better for a global sight…and watch really Jung kooks Live performances he is one of the rare artists being better Live!

Most songs are mainly Korean with some English, so make sure to enable captions! ON Kinetic Manifesto is fantastic. Dope, Fake Love, Black Swan. Those all have music videos. Some of their best songs have no music videos, just live performances. I recommend House of Cards and Truth Untold. I prefer their live performances myself. There are many. Hybe and BangtanTV are good sources. They do have a few English songs, feel good songs they released during the pandemic. Butter, Dynamite and Permission to Dance. For Jungkook, I recommend Audacy Live performance, Hate You live on iheart. Standing Next to You was also performed live on iheart. Just him and a live band. Excellent, imo. Have fun!

With seven members, all talented in their own right and with different tastes and goals in music, I never experience the ear-fatigue I have with other artists because BTS mixes it up so frequently - full member songs, solos, subunits of 2,3, or 4 member songs...the variety is endless. BTS fans (known as ARMY) span the generations so, yes, many of us grew up with Michael Jackson.

Jungkook solo project, just one member of BTS. Clearly an homage to MJ, Jungkook is a great admirer of him. The BTS fandom is called Army and is estimated to be around 60M, not all young girls but people of all ages and genders who like good music well performed. I recommend if you want to see BTS you should watch the music video called Black Swan, or Blood Sweat and Tears, or On Kinetic Manifesto. As others have said, this is a Kookie solo. I would suggest Dope, Idol and Spring Day for your next excursion into BTS.

BTS has a huge amount of amazing songs you could love. Also, all members have solo works. Their styles individually are so different but together they are at their best. In Jungkook's album, Golden, he showed a different Pop aspect in each song. He took the concept of love and each song represents a different emotion that love invokes. He is incredibly talented and versatile. Listening to the songs from the album in order takes you on a roller coaster ride. BTS cover so many genres. You can find boyband-like songs such as Dynamite that they made to cheer ARMY up during COVID, but they have so much more. To get a feel for their diversity you could try House of Cards (jazz), Airplane Pt 2 (Latin pop), Mic Drop (Hip Hop), Blood Sweat and Tears (EDM-ish), The Truth Untold (ballad), the Cyphers Parts 1 to 4 (rap).... so many. For choreography masterpieces try ON: Kinetic Manifesto and Run BTS. They also have a fictional storyline that runs through multiple MVs and albums since I Need U in 2015 and still running today. It is quite dark but the acting is incredible. Welcome to BTS!

BTS as a group has about 350 songs. Most they wrote themselves with some collaborations on others. All have songs that are copyrighted by (KOMCA) Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) with RM (218), SUGA (167), and J-Hope (137) having the most. There is overlay because they work on tracks together too and also have songs in Japanese. Add another 66 tracks (counting RM’s new album being released next Friday (20240524)) for their individual projects in the last year and a half and you can see the size of their discography catalog. This is not counting a few mixed tapes, collaborations on other artists’ catalogs, albums, or webtoon sound tracks. They pretty much sing all genres (multiple genres in most songs) except for opera or American country music. It’s literally unfair and naïve to judge their music on a handful of songs, as you will see if you continue down the BTS rabbit hole. You may be down there for quite a while. They have an enormous number of awards, spent an enormous amount of time on the Billboard charts (years) and opened many, many doors, to the benefit of South Korea and their entertainment industry. BTS alone contributes 3.6 BILLION to the SK economy of 50 million people. That does not include the effect on international economies. Their largest fan base is actually in India. I've been listening to BTS since 2015 I'm 31 years old so there is a HUGE misconception that BTS fans are in their teens, lol we are not surprise! One thing you should keep in mind that bts solo projects may and may not be similar to bts group projects. Solo project is when they explore genre, performance, promotion, musical route they want to pursue personally. And when you chrck all their solo works, you'llappreciate them more as a group bec of how different thayare w/ 1 another. And how different thwir solo works w/ whatthey do as a group. But they manage tobe cohesive and one when together but 7 very different individuals when it comes to howthey dotheir own solo projects.

I’m so confused why anyone would think this is BTS when the title clearly says Jungkook and there is obviously one voice the whole time. While I’m sure the background dancers are flattered to be compared to BTS, they are actually stars in their own right (the background dancers working with JK are world renowned dancers/choreographers, such as Brian Puspos).
