Too many greats but SRV Is definitely one of them. Prince showed Rolling Stone magazine that he should have been in that bogus top 100 on the night of the RR Hall of fame in 2004😆 will you guys react to Prince “while my guitar gently weeps” the 2021 director’s version please 😀

SRV 🎸 THE GOAT 🐐 It difficult for me to pick my number one but there's no doubt in my mind, it's Stevie Ray. He was not of this world. What you saw is God given talent & thousands of hours of practice. SRV could not read music. He played by ear. On August 27, 1990 Stevie played at a festival. He wanted to get back to the hotel but his helicopter wasn't there. There were seats available on another & he took it. Shortly after midnight, the helicopter crashed in Wisconsin. I cried when I found out. The greatest Blues guitarist of my generation died at age 35. In my head, I picture him playing in heaven with all the other greats. We lost him too soon but we were all blessed by his talent. RIP SRV🙏🏻

I grew up in the town over from alpine Valley where his helicopter crashed... I could see the top of the ski hill from my front yard and when I came on the news we ran outside and looked and you could see the fire... I was 6 at the time and still remember it

Even worse. The helicopter that stevie took was eric clapton's chopper. If stevie had just done the drive on the bus and let clapton take the chopper we would have lost clapton and still had stevie

The GOAT for sure. Alpine Valley Wisconsin took a six stringer from us but he will never be forgotten. I'm teaching my 6 year old son about SRV and I bought a Fender American Professional Strat in 2018 for him to have one day. He may never play it but he will know why he owns it and hopefully appreciate it and the music that it's heritage made for him to enjoy...

Never seen these two smile this much during a reaction it's precious. I was in Marine Corpse boot camp when SRV died and in remembrance our drill instructors gave us the day off and they spent the whole day in their DI hut (small enclosed structure in the corner of our barracks) blasting SRV with the door open. That is the power of Stevie.

The only two people whose death made me shed a tear beyond family were Stevie and Bum Phillips. When Earl goes it will be a third.

According to Texas Flood, a new book on SRV by coauthors Alan Paul and Andy Aledort, the sound of Stevie Ray doing his best Albert impression also caught Eric Clapton off guard.“I was driving, and ‘Let’s Dance’ came on the radio,” Slowhand is quoted as saying in Chapter 13. “I stopped my car and said, ‘I have to know who this guitar player is today. Not tomorrow, but today.’ This has only happened to me three or four times ever, and probably not for anyone in between Duane Allman and Stevie.” Eric Clapton

Most people, even the best guitar players today, consider SRV the GOAT. He didn't play the guitar, he was the guitar, the music just flowed through him. He never played any of his songs the same way twice. If you notice his face, you will see that he plays with his eyes closed for almost the whole set. He couldn't read music, so he played by feel and memory. He used 13 gauge strings which are very thick and very hard to bend. He kept his number 2 guitar on stage when he performed because he would often break even them. You need to watch Jimi Hendrix play VOODOO Child and then watch SRV play it, will blow you away. Love your reactions. Keep them coming. Hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you and yours a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Man, I freekin LOVE it when I see young people see and hear Stevie Ray for the first time. Invariably, they crack a big ol' smile of appreciation and admiration, and it doesn't really matter what musical background they come from. I have actually watched several videos today of young people watching this exact video and commenting on it, and it's hilarious that they have all commented on Stevie Ray's "Stink-face" while he's playing. That cracks me up. Girlfriend is just sitting there with a big ol' toothy grin on her face, and she doesn't know what to say....that's priceless.

SRV was hands down one of the best blues guitarists, died in 1993 (I think) in a helicopter accident. What is most amazing about him is that he never learned to read or write music, all his playing was on emotion and "feel". Should check out more of his work...Mary had a little lamb, Pride and Joy is very good as well. Glad you discovered him.

@@xenoscoot Thanks for the correction, I met his brother Jimmie after a blues show he did in my home town, super nice guy. His bandmate told me that up to that point ( 5 or so years ago) that Jimmie has never played Tick Tock (song they did together) since his brother's death. Both are tremendously talented, Stevie died was too soon. To this day he is still one of, if not my favorite blues artist.

@@Jarhd-sl7kf he's my favorite followed by his brother, Jimmie. I don't blame Jimmie for not doing Tick Tock or anything else that is too painful. He has been honest about trying to pretend to move on for a few years then just letting folks know he ain't over/has closure about Stevie dying and never will. I am 46. Losing my baby sister to cancer, soon. I definitely empathize and sympathize with Jimmie and any choices he makes regarding his brother and his brother's legacy. It effing sucks all the way around.

We use to skip school for a couple of days and drive 100's of miles around Texas to see him play on a Thurs, Friday or Sat...back then, the drinking age was 18/19, so it was easier to sneak/bribe your way into a club to hear him play. Seeing him live, much like Pink Floyd, just brings about a different connection, and his sweet music touches your soul a little deeper and a lot different than hearing him play on the radio. There is lots of discussions about who is greater, but those are silly wastes of thought, for there is none better than SRV, and conceding there are some who are as great isn't changing that position, nor is it by acknowledging some connect better to one guitarist over another...both are opinions in judgment, not quantifying greatness. There isn't a bad SRV song, even Mary had a little lamb is done in a way that is pleasing to hear his version. Many are going to suggest this or that song of his to do, and probably all great suggestions...but know the song 'Lenny' is the one he wrote for his wife and the name of his guitar, an obvious connection no other song will have to SRV. Great reactions done by both of you. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Saw him live in '85 in Chicago and it was stunning, I think you guys get it, but he was a multi-generational talent that we haven't seen since. Now with so much downloadable "music" it is hard to appreciate how incredible this is. SRV always loved the founders of the blues and had the surviving blues artists of the time on stage with him. This song was written in 1958, and he wanted to bring it forward. He was a talent that has no parallel now. How many people people without a Broadway level production command a stage.

Damn, it’s so amazing for me (im 45 yrs old), to see young ppl get into all this stuff....I discovered SRV as a 21 yr old guitar player in 1997,,and , it’s just one of those things that discourages and inspires u at the same time--but if ur not a guitar player, ur just in awe of the magic of it all......the behind the back thing is......the dude was just a genius,,and he had a really strong left arm, hand and wrist to be able to hold the guitar high up enuf (with one arm) so it wouldn’t be interfered with by touching his body/back...it’s just raw power, really .....man, and he was a super genuine down to earth guy, he helped so many ppl get sober after he got sober in 1986, from famous friends of his, to normal citizens at the AA meetings he used to attend regularly in texas, he was a saint, so when Stevie makes the pretty girls smile (like crystal there, and all the young ppl), it just makes my heart happy, becuz w/ the short time we had srv on this planet, he spread so much joy, and eased so much pain, it’s just, it’s his legacy to be the ZUES of the guitar gods, and spread even more joy for generation, after generation, after generation to come...love and light to u guys, great fuckn’ reaction , and god bless...

“See, that’s just somethin you can’t interrupt.” Respect, young man. Stevie was the greatest blues guitarist to do it. Many of the best in the game have attested to it. Not too damn bad for a self taught kid who had no idea how to read sheet music, huh? 😆

SRV was a pure channel. The player, the instrument and the voice were all one and three at the same time.

Stevie Ray Vaughan inspired my 14 yr old son to want to play guitar, he asked me if he could buy this old guitar and I told him " son you don't play the guitar " he said he wanted to learn. I heard him practicing in his room and it was Stevie Ray, I told my husband he wouldn't learn that unless he had a better guitar. We went to Guitar Center and got him a new one and he was watching Stevie Ray videos on KZfaq and just started playing, he never learned to read music either just like Stevie Ray and I think that's what helped them play without looking at the guitar because they don't have to look at strings, he bought a Stevie Ray hat and I'll tell you he learned to play behind his head and back, with his teeth and just jam.we took him to this restaurant to play with a band and everyone went crazy so he would play with the band here and there and they would actually put his name on their flyers and the crowd was unbelievable. He doesn't play much anymore but he does practice in his room because of his job, THANK YOU STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN THE GOAT FOR ALL THE GREAT MUSIC

10:00 The looks on your faces are priceless! I was presented with the opportunity to see him play live the night he died! I had and still have an aversion to large crowds and just couldn't get past that fear. I always thought that there would be a future time in a smaller venue...... R.I.P. Stevie Ray! You were a Blessing to us!

There are legendary guitar players, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, B.B. King, and, then there's SRV. He elevated guitar playing to an entirely new level. A level no one else has ever been able to reach.

Their faces when he flipped the guitar behind his back hahaha. I grew up on SRV, being a Texan it's a part of music you must listen to. I knew it was coming and knew their reaction.

S.R.V. = G.O.A.T. blues man. I saw him play live twice in my younger days, it was two shows of freakin' legendary blues soul guitar greatness - and the tickets only cost me $13.50 each time - !!!!!!

I've seen other reactions to live performances and they are like "why isn't the crowd into it?" BC they are absolutely transfixed!! SRV is not entirely from the earthly plane. I'm half pleadian and he blows me away! Been playing guitar for 43+ years And despite my genetic advantage I can't come close to the way he channels via the creator to his heart and soul expressed through his fingers to the pickups, amp and back to the creator that gifted him. This is extremely rare. Many musicians drop off into the "Zone" but never this DEEP!! At least in my experiences. Whoa!!!🎸🎶✌️💜

He is the best his guitars became extension of his own arm .. became a part of him to play with so much passion with that level of power that yet be so finesse and smooth.. 1982 cassette Texas Flood then my whole World .. Don't forget about his voice... adjust his mindset and his battling demons and overcame.. then his music changed even for the better.. his words & music will & have changed people's lives as they are hurting and suffering .. the passion didn't stop at & with his playing he was much much more. The sky is still crying for his passing.

You have met the man! He was as kind, gentle and humble as he was talented. Check out “Texas Flood “ live from Austin 1989, for some speed, and “Tin Pan Alley” with Stevie Ray and Johnny Copeland for some more deep Blues and a better look at Stevie’s vocals. You’ve only just begun, baby!!!!

I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin August 26th 1990. When I heard the news the next morning was one of the saddest days of my life. The lineup was Eric Clapton, SRV, his brother Jimmy Vaughn, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. RIP SRV!

I saw him at The Crystal Ballroom in 1983. He was ridiculous. He played behind his head, behind his back. He breaks guitar strings and switches guitars and doesn't miss a beat. Watch Look At Little Sister live in Austin, Tx and you will see the smoothest guitar switch ever

This Man is arguably The GOAT of The Guitar!!! But sadly this is another example of The Day The Music Died!!!! I heard he played the heaviest guage Strings, watch his Hands, you can see the power of his hands and Fingers!!!! AMAZING!!!! I Have a New 11 month Grandson, He makes my Heart have that good hurt, but SRV death still makes my Heart have that Bad Hurt!!! Rest In Peace My Brother!!! I hope and pray that my words find you and yours blessed and doing well!!! Belated Merry Christmas!!!!
