This song was overplayed as a 1975 pop song w a heavy disco flavor to the sound. I got sick of this song in its time but now I see all the skills w the vocals, harmony, instruments & choreography. Omg.

It's how we experimented these new groups played on the radio, we went in blind. Good way to listen to new music. This is a great disco dancing song. I LOVE IT

I was too young to go to the clubs when they were called discos but wow I remember my friends older siblings go and dance. I was so jealous. This song stands the test of time

RIP to lead singer Ralph Taveres, Dec 14, 2021. Ralph Tavares The group's eldest brother passed away just days shy of his 80th birthday - and a Tavares concert where they'd celebrate it. The eldest member of the family R&B group Tavares has died.

The Taveres are 5 Cape Verdean brothers! Yes, Thank you Cathy reed, those are good tunes you suggested! Thanks for giving this classic tune a listen. It stands the test of time and is as fresh as the day it was released.When it was played at clubs, the floor would be full, Every time. I get Deja Vu every time I hear this tune. I love this tune. Thanks again. Wow.

Thanks for playing the request. The Tavares Brothers were the Bomb. I think they were underrated back then. They had some really big Disco smashes including this track. They had some awesome ballads too...... The extended version is real niceeeee...

Another one of their Hits "It Only Takes A Minute" was the "Debut" Single by The UK Boy Band Take That, that they did on Top Of The Pops England's longest running Music Show. Their biggest hit was "More Than A Woman" in Saturday Night Fever but The Bee Gees Version was featured in The Dance Contest Sequence that got them very angry but because they didn't write the song they didn't get Royalties.

They were a great family group in the 70s. All brothers who had a lot of hits. Other good songs are " It only takes a minute" and "Never had a love like this"

Tavares were good in the day - "It Only Takes A Minute" and "Never Had A Love" are a few thats good! They also did some covers - "She's Gone" and "More Than A Woman"!!!

Actually, "Check It Out" was also cover (it was originally by The Friends of Distinction) as was "Remember What I Told You To Forget" (originally done by The Four Tops) but their versions were far superior to the originals).

People are going to slam me for this but I actually like their version of “More than a Woman,” then the corny sounding Bee Gees. Actually remember Tavares version played much more in the Discotheques back then too.

Taveras was GREAT back in the day. VERY popular group that cranked out tons of hit records. They did a version of "More than a woman" in Saturday Night Fever that was even better than The Bee Gees version IMO, and I love The Bee Gees. PLEASE try "Check it Out" by these guys. It was like their first hit record. SLOW JAM, but one of my all-time favorite slow jams.

Another great slow-jam by Tavares, BIG HIT, was "Remember what I told you to forget" There's a 'remastered anthology' version of both, "Remember what I told you to forget" and "Check it Out" on KZfaq. Sounds Great.

I was soooo excited to see Tavares in 2017 at the Grammy’s tribute to the Bee Gees. They performed MORE THAN A WOMAN with Jason Derulo, still singing and smiling and dancing:))) The Bee Gees wrote the song for Saturday Night Fever, but it was Tavares‘ cover version that went out as a single and was a hit. Would really love a reaction to it and to the 2017 performance if copyright allows.

Pure disco....this was a smash in 1976.....went to # 3 on the r&b charts and # 15 on the pop charts.....Tavares is a family group of all brothers....they had a few hits including "She's Gone" which was a big hit also for Hall & Oats who wrote the song....great reaction

This is a time period when Motown producer Freddie Perrin had became the king of disco and hits all over the charts (this is disco music at its finest, covered by a very capable R&B group who did some fine soul classics before spitting out this big disco hit. (By the way, disco is earmarked by the prominent string arrangements and the 4/4 beat at 132 beats per minute).

The Tavares had a great period of success in the 70's, but it was their 80's material that got my attention. The incredibly talented remixing duo of David Todd and Nick Martinelli, turned a strangely upbeat, Got To Find My Way Back To You, into the moody masterpiece it should've been originally. The Tavares disco-funk jam, Loveline, was ignored by everyone, except the clubbers. If their record company had promoted the song at all, it would've been a big hit.

One of my all time faves! Fantastic sibling harmonies dripping with soul! Corny? Maybe. Disco? Maybe, but I don't care. I just LOVE this record!! The album is called Sky High! and Freddie Perren is all over the production and songwriting on it. But I see as usual I am late to the party and you have already further checked them out.

Funny, they were never compared a lot to the Jackson 5, but they have the same 5-brother elements. They were perhaps an older version and were never childhood hit makers like the Jackson 5. They had superior harmonies and 2 or 3 pretty good lead singers. They could dance and were well rehearsed performers. They sold a lot of f'n records.
