Their voices are smooth, and unlike singers today, there was ZERO audiotape. They are the "REAL DEAL."

Bill Medley has an amazing bass voice and terrific vocal control. He is still a joy to listen to. Bobby Hatfield, though, was a countertenor with a voice as clear as a bell. He could cover two and a half octaves in one song with perfect breath control. That's not just skill, it's a God-given gift. Both these men were so great together.

This was the most played song on radio of the 20th century. Bobby Hatfield (tenor on the left) and Bill Medley (baritone on the right) weren't really brothers. Their name comes from when they performed at Jon's Black Derby club in Santa Ana, CA very early in their career. Black Marines from El Toro Marine Base would say things like "That's righteous, brother" about their performance. It's great to watch young people like you appreciate my favorite duo from my youth. Suggestions: (You're My) Soul and Inspiration. Bobby's live solo of Summertime is a rave. Blues song I Just Want to Make Love to You is mostly Bill with a little help from Bobby.

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 88 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century. "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965. Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby's use of "Runs" is brilliant. He is the master of the technique and started the trend. 7 notes just to say the word "I".... Their name came when they did a show in a smaller venue and a black man told them…. You two Brothers are Righteous. They created the sound and set the table that all Soul Music fed from for decades to come. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin’ Feelin‘" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

That bass voiced guy is Bill Medley. And Bobby Hatfield you already know of from “Unchained Melody”. The Righteous Brothers weren’t really brothers. They got their name from singing at a venue down south, and a black guy said “righteous brother” to one of their songs. So they adopted the name. If you haven’t done so yet, you should react to “Soul and Inspiration” by them. It’s one of my favorites.

Trying to decide which Righteous Brother is better is like comparing cheese and hamburger. They're too different, but layer them and put them in a pan and you've got a taste of heaven. It's amazing how such a deep growly bass and a pure tenor blend so well. Please play Soul and Inspiration, another one of their songs.

Check out Soul and Inspiration. It was written as a follow-up to the success of this song, written by the same writers, and features both "brothers" (they weren't related). Soul and Inspiration peaked at #1 for three straight weeks in 1966.

They did alot of solos also.Their voices are each unique. BOBBY HATFIELD was the tenor voice and Bill Melody was the baritone voice they shouldn't have blended together but they did and it was pure magic. If you like soul listen to Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Bros do Summertime. Listen to Bill Melody do BROWN EYED GIRL or Georgia. Bobby's The Prayer. EBB TIDE SO MANY just do a little research and you'll find so many.

Try Little Latin Lupe Lu, a fun uptempo dance tune by the Righteous Brothers, show you a different side to them. They aren't really brothers. African American Marines on leave used to listen to them in a club before fame. One day they came up and told them, "You guys are righteous brothers." They decided eventually that's a great name for the act. They started out in a group of 4-5 singers under a different name. The others left and Bobby and Bill were left as a duo. They actually opened for the Beatles on their first lengthy tour of America in August 1964. They got an offer to record and left the tour, also helping host Shindig, a teen music show, and were . they recorded You've Lost That Lovin; Feelin' and an album. Good idea to leave the tour eh? lol. Back in the day [1965] they became known as "Blue eyed soul" singers. It didn't matter what background you were from when it came to music, everybody liked them, they were cool. everything was on AM radio, one format for teens, so everyone got a shot to get a hit without all this separatism in radio now. I liked all kinds of music, Beatles and other British Bands, Motown, Beach Boys, Righteous Brothers. I was just a little kid lucky enough to grow up in an era of great popular music. An era of great female singers as well.

Thank you! Ghost, Top Gun, others..."sigh..." and "YAWN." It's about the the music/singers, and these movies just ruin the music side of this double edged sword, even though they revived the Righteous Brothers somewhat. It is waaayyy past TIME to do a biopic movie on these two. They do it for everyone else. It's their turn!!!! Reactors are unintentionally helping revive these two yet again!
