You really should start talking over the music more often. The stopping drives us crazy 😂. Keith Moon is the drummer and he was the worst for creating the most damage at after parties. Fully trashing hotel rooms and he even drove an old Cadillac into a swimming pool. It got so bad they had trouble booking hotels for them. There's a video on YT where they are playing in a thunderstorm which was insane! Lightning striking all around them! So cool! Nowadays all they can do is twerk and do disgusting sexual things on stage. These guys had the true talent, no tech, just incredible, AND they were high out of their minds most of the time! As they definitely were in this video, which, just shows you how incredible their talent really was. Plus the drugs were pure, not laden with pharmaceuticals. Glad you're enjoying all this. I really do miss those simpler times very much! ✌️Out

And to think, as a "young" teenager in the early 70's you had all these groups, The Who, The Stones, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, etc. All producing HIGH quality music all at the same time. Blessed to have lived through this period and survived! Thanks Polo!

It was a great time to be alive and listening to music, and it continued on into the late 70's and early 80's. After that, music edged into a kind of sameness. There were, and still are, great songs, but I don't think we'll ever see another era in music like the 60's and 70's.

Same here guys. T.V.? No way we had that stereo blasting all the time. I didn't even know that the program "M.A.S.H" existed. You knew each song and checked out the album covers front and back. The best part was there was such a flood of talent, both U.K. and American. It was exciting to see how good each band was but how they differed and what each one had to offer that was different. And of course there were the friendly arguments as who was the best. We will never see this again. I thank God I was here to experience it all.

The late John Entwhistle (The Ox) that is, unfortunately passing due to heart attack induced by a large amount of cocaine fairly late on in his 50’s, a day before The Who’s first date on their US tour. He was in bad health anyway, hence the heart attack. Fantastic and legendary bass player, one of the top 5 in the world of Rock.

The drummer, Keith Moon unfortunately died not long after this concert, he was only 32. It's actually amazing he lived that long, he had an insane lifestyle.

I love that the first time you see them and instantly know Pete Townsend's "move"(guitarist). Roger Dalltry's (singer)"move" is to spin the microphone through the air and then catch it . Fun fact. At the same time as this tour was being filmed in London, Ridley Scott's film Alien was being made just down the road. In the film, when Kane finds the eggs in the subterranean cave, the eggs are protected by a thin layer of light. Ridley Scott borrowed The Who's lasers, those very same lasers you just saw in the vid, to create the scene in his film. How lucky was that. Great reaction by the way.

The WHO!! Ones of my favorite bands of all time. My fav track of theirs is Baba O'Riley. That's Kieth Moon who you're admiring....he was/is deemed one the most legendary drummers of all time, smashing his drum sets on stage and playing drums like no one else had until this time. He destroyed hotel rooms too, he was known as being very wild and over the top! They are a legendary band.

My older brother took me to the debut of The Kids Are Alright rockumentary and that was it. The music, band, movie grabbed me by the short hairs and from that point forward for years I was a huge fan. I took an intense deep dive into both the band and the music. A few years later it came to theatres again. I was employed at my local drive in theatre and during the week the showings were very light. I got to watch it every night for weeks. @redjack999 is right, you need to see the movie.

I saw The Who in 2019 and the singer Roger Daltrey still had. He sounded great. He would swing the mic around and around by the cord and then sling it way up in the air and then catch it. When I first saw them in 1970 they even more energetic.

It IS an All-Star squad: lead everything. And this is one of the 3 best performances I've ever seen, with Santana at Woodstock and Dire Straits(Sultans of Swing, Alchemy tour). They're all of it, and I'm so glad you caught this! Try "Who Are YOu", the version that's "live' in the studio as they recorded it; spectacular. BTW, 'energy guy' is the core, the songwriter, Pete Townshend.

Great to see you discovering The Who for the first time. I’d highly recommend you look at their Woodstock, Isle of Wight and Rolling Stones ‘Rock & Roll Circus’ live performances to really capture what the band was capable of. For studio recordings then the album Quadrophenia is a must, as is Who’s Next. Enjoy ✌🏻

"Straight rock stars". That's a very accurate take on this. I saw them in Atlanta in the very early 70s and their shows were all epic. In fact, their performance at Woodstock is legendary. Pete Townsend is one of the best rock songwriters ever. I'm certain you've heard and might recall many more songs of theirs than you may realize. Pinball Wizard. My Generation. Love, Reign O'er Me. Just to name a few. Thanks for this one!

I believe it was Kiss who beat them out some time ago. After that, Guinness decided it was of best interest to stop tracking that record. I saw The Who once in '89 with Simon Phillips on drums outdoors at Giants Stadium. My ears weren't right for days.

Great song; one of my favorites and I was looking forward to seeing your reaction. I love watching bassist John Entwistle play, talk about flying fingers. You should watch their documentary with concert footage The Kids Are Alright, it's wonderful and unjustly forgotten these days. It's a shame that the song was wrong; in the end, we sure got fooled, over and over again.

The Who's early live stuff is amazing. Young Man Blues from the Isle of Wight is epic as well; but my favorite is what's on their Live at Leeds album - recorded on a night when they were at they're best. My Generation is an incredible 15 minute medley with one bangin' riff after another. EPIC RAW POWERFUL

Thank God for the “British invasion “ in the 60’s & 70’s! The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, Queen, and on and on. These guys were influenced by our early Rock n Roll & the black blues artists and took Rock to a whole new level! I’m so happy I got to see most of them in their prime & when a concert ticket costs 15$ and you got to see at least 2 bands! 🤟🏼✌🏼🙌🏼

Fellow Clevelander here. The Who is one of the great rock bands ever. They held the world record for loudest rock band. They were the band playing in Cinci when the people died in the rush to the stage ending festival seating at concerts. The lasers were cool in this video, when this was made they were a new thing so bands were experimenting with them a lot. Saw them twice - once the old coliseum and at the old stadium downtown

I remember that night in Cincinnati. My little brother, and his high school friends, went to this show. There were parents and families all across the region pacing the floors until about 2:00 am. None of them knew about the tragedy that happened so near them. After the concert they went to a local Skyline Chili Parlor and stayed until it closed at 1 am. It was one of the longest nights of my life. But the kids and the band were not aware of what had happened and had a great night. The next morning my little brother found out one of his good friends had died.

Deep dive the lyrics , so much truth even today . Keith Moon , the drummer left us , what a sad day. He played the drums like he wanted them to die ! Looking back at 69 thinking how fortunate I was to be young in an era when so many legendary bands were making music which will be revered for generations and the Who are certainly in that category.

Magic Bus is another song you'll like along with I can see for miles & miles. Then when you have time to listen to an entire album there's "Tommy." It's a one of a kind Movie/Album. All star cast Ann Margaret, Elton John, Tina Turner, etc.

Keith moon on drums sounds like a whole orchestra of drummers. Tommy has some of the best drums ever played on an Album.

The Who's catalog is huge and varied in style. You can think they were great just from the studio songs but add in they are one of the best live bands, puts them right up there as one of the most incredible. For me it looks like they are having so much fun. Did you catch the lead singer's mic swinging? He could use that that as a weapon.

The most iconic scream in all of Rock. Roger Daltrey, ladies and germs. Pete Townsend in guitar wrote all the songs. Genius. ❤ The Muppets based “drummer “ Animal” on Keith Moon.

I have this conversation with my daughter and her husband often. I’m not saying their music is bad, but she is a late baby, I was 30 when I had her. She is almost 30 now. My argument has been that her generation of music has a different set of talents. Give The Who a computer, and tell them to make a song, and they would be lost. Give whoever they are listening to a guitar and an amp,and they would be lost. It’s a different skill set. It’s also a different level of enthusiasm. Not from the crowd, though I think the fans are different also, but the enthusiasm from the bands are different. No matter what these what these young musicians actually felt, they make YOU feel like all they wanted to do was a good performance. Fun, and love.

Hi big man, hope your OK, just watched your reaction to The Who, great reaction as usual, hey I expect nothing else from you, not my most favourite band but they did do some great tracks, had the pleasure of seeing them live in the late 60s when they were not that big, it was in a very small venue in Bath near me, the amazing thing is half way through it started to rain, remember this was a indoor venue,but it wasn't rain it was the condensation from all the hot bodies gathered on the ceiling and turning to rain, would you believe it, anyway big man you take care keep up the great work English Billy.

Yeah, It would've been better to listen to the studio version first. Familiarize yourself with the music on the track and then...most importantly, the lyrics. Then watching the live version, as it would've had even more impact if that's possible. But, still a great reaction. I felt the same way you did when I first saw this 40 years ago and I knew the song. They are all 4 superstars of rock as individuals but to have all of them together in the same band was monstrous. Still one of my personal favorite bands of all time, even after all these years.

Roger, Pete, John, and Keith literally embodied the spirit of Rock'n Roll. Watch "A Quick One (While He's Away)" for a mind blowing early live performance by The Who on a Rolling Stones show that was so good that Mick Jagger didn't let it get aired at the time and it was only relatively recently released.

I was able to see them twice, in the '80's, and Townshend solo again in the '90's. The energy, Pete's composing, Daltrey's stage presence, Moon's undeniable ability on the drums, and Entwhistle's relentless 10 finger assault on the bass, IMO, the greatest band in the history of Rock! Sure there are other good bands, but none equal. I've watched that video a hundred times, and it NEVER gets old. Thanks!
