@@CodyLamReacts It is one of the harshest with 80% growls. I would wait because it is not representive for Epica now. It's from 2004 and Epica is so much more. Wrong direction to discover them first. A epic song if you already know them well IMO.

Hello and welcome to the world of Epica! We are Epicans :) You've just discovered one of the best bands in symphonic metal today. Well, for me it's the best one without any doubt. The most symphonic, as well as "most metal" among the big names in this sub-genre. Keep reacting to Epica and you won't be disappointed! If you are a music lover, this band will blow your mind. From more radio-friendly catchy songs, through long epic masterpieces, to wonderful orchestral ballads and even acoustic versions of their metal songs. Epica have it all. What a great journey lies ahead of you! The growling/screaming guitarist is Mark Jansen, the founder and mastermind of Epica. The gorgeous lead singer is Simone Simons, a classically trained soprano. Mark and Simone were once a couple. They are still good friends. Simone is my most favourite female metal singer of all time. Her voice is absolutely wonderful, as you will hear. The keyboardist is Coen Janssen, the third of the original Epica members. The other 3 guys joined over years: Isaac Delahaye (lead guitar), Rob van der Loo (bass guitar), Arien van Weesenbeek (drums). 4 out of 6 Epica members have degree in music and although I said Mark is the mastermind, all band members actually contribute to songwriting. That's why their music is so diverse and so good! Almost all song lyrics are written either by Mark or Simone. I really hope you are going to react to much much more Epica. This is not a band with just 1-2 big hits. You really need to hear at least 10 songs, that's the bare minimum :D

Epica has the most diverse catalogue of any band I know, there's a song that will blow your mind by Epica whatever your personal taste is. My favorite band by far, and I think they deserve to be acknowledged into the ranks of the greatest in music through all time. Mozart would have rocked out to this song 😂 Their songs are growers, they are usually so epic in scale you need to listen a few times to really get it, it's not an easy listening experience, you need to actively listen, shift attention between instruments and vocal, focus in on a particular melodic line or rythm and you will get it. It's all gold, all the way down.

Epica is epic 😁. So true. After the goddess and valkyrie Floor, you now have discovered Simone Simons, the siren of Metal. And with Nightwish and Epica the best bands in the Metal universe IMO. This rabbit hole is very very deep too. You will find out that the mastermind of Epica Mark Jansen has had his first Symphonic Metal Band 'After Forever' together with Floor Jansen. That they are all still close and you will discover two fantastic songs of Epica feat. Floor. 😁 Next Epica song IMO "Unchain Utopia" (Omega Alive) or "Skeleton Key". Thx!!!

Welcome to Epica! One of the top symphonic metal bands out there, almost 20 years of history and completely unique style. You happened to get introduced with one of their most amazing masterpieces, from their last album Omega and with the video from their ridiculous livestream Omega Alive they did this year. They have 3 more videos from this show for free in their channel so you can continue there. Another great source of material is the Retrospect show from 2013, this time with actual crowd and a live orchestra for the celebration of their 10 years. Absolutely insane show with most of their older hits, which Simone (the vocalist) did while being pregnant and still sounded great.

In some parts the way Simone sings here give me some Annie Haslam / Renaissance vibes, and of course also the piano part. But i have already often said that Renaissance is maybe one of the predecessors for symphonic metal. I mean the were more symphonic folk/rock but look at Nightwish, they started also as a folk band and Tuomas tried metal when Tarja came back and he thought her voice was now to strong for that.

Epica is easily my favorite band that I've seen live. I've seen them live four times so far and I'll be seeing them again October 18, 2022 in Philly when they open for Sabaton.

That piano was actually burning, it wasn’t an effect. He apparently had 30 seconds or so before it got too hot. If you look at the last few touches, he is hitting the keys and retreating pretty quick.

He also has a keyboard on a rail system, that he can push, and then chase across the stage! See 'consign to oblivion' live version in France. And listen for the sneaky French national anthem he puts in. People without big egos, having a lot of fun, while blowing the roof off:-) Epica just rules!

Lovebites did a Guitar Keytar duet that was alot similar in effect on the song. They performed Spellbound Live from the Ride For Vengeance tour at the Tokyo Dome March 2021

Keyboard and guitar mixed-solos? Try a little Ayreon (Live) You'll run into some nice lead lines in there. Epica = my favorite band, right now. Kust so much creative energy in their music, and excellent execution.

Ayreon is a band that have very nice keyboard and guitar mixes. By coincidence, Simone, the singing Epica lady, also sings in some songs from Ayreon. Check out 'the day that the world breaks down' and you will have a nice supprise at the end and 11 metal singers from all over the world.

Epica is the most symphonic metal band in the world, followed by Nightwish. Simone is a long time friend with Floor from Nightwish. They sung together as wel. Btw. Epica fans respect Nightwish and The Nightwish fans respect Epica. Ain't that beautiful?

Epica is amazing, but there are more great Dutch metalbands. You should definitly check out "Dear Mother" With their debut album "Bulletproof". They are a new dutch metalband formed by ex-Delain guitarist Merel Bechtold and ex-Delain drummer Joey de Boer. They teamed up with David "Pear" Hruska as their vocalist. Its realy worthwhile!
