There was some awesome music made by both Black and White artists back then. I have a ton of Motown music and I absolutely cannot listen to Aretha's "Rock Steady" without dancing. The band for most of those Motown hits, the Funk Brothers, was _incredible_ . The drum, bass and brass interaction on Rock Steady is perfection. BTW, I'm white, just turned 69. (Seems like there ought to be something special going on this year.)

Three Dog Night is an American rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. They had great songs such as "One", "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Liar", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.

The music of our youth is giving the same smiles it gave us when we heard this in the 70’s, music from 60’s,70’s, with a group of people laughing and kicking it back…man, the time goes by quick, so many from those times not here today. Just fragmented memories of yesterday is all some of us have today.

They released this one in 1970. The days of drugs & free love & Woodstock. Vietnam war & civil rights protests. I graduated in 1971 & these guys were very representative of the times. Many songs were more discreet & used 'code' in their songs so the meanings were not so obvious.

Here's the thing about Three Dog Night. Three LEAD singers who could all front a band (and did) and who could all hear well enough to sing multiple harmony parts. They got together and put some songs and some arrangements out that were really good. When they hit the airwaves they were a phenomenon that never looked back until they had cranked out multiple chart-topping hits. They may not be a 'favorite band' of many, but everybody remembers their catalogue well...and most have a favorite song among them. They were all over radio for at least a decade and it's really fun to watch you react to their music 40 years later. Keep it up. Check out "One," "Joy To The World" and "Black and White" just to name a few.

Other injestibles, people taking turns in the bedrooms...... I always made a quick escape and was so thankful for clubbing at discos where most of this could be avoided.

I'm a 57 year old Mamie, Ninnie, and Gamie. I love watching the reactions of you young people. The sad thing is that y'all's generation won't ever know the peace and innocence of that era. This is way back when everyone gathered around outside in our yards or down on the river banks. This is when music was music. You had fun, but this is when you had to have a voice that could carry a tune. There are so many great songs and bands from back then. I wish they were still around and able to teach their music. But they would also tell you that you had to have soul. What I mean by that is when you sing, you have to be able to feel it in your soul. Because if you can't feel it, then you won't be able to sing it like you should. Keep on keepin' on. Thank you for bringing back memories.

This song is cracking me up hearing through someone else's ears. When it was a hit, we were all just singing it like it was nothing. Thanks for a good memory! I loved these guys!

One of the best bands ever. This is one of my favourite songs from back in the day. Hitting 70 this year but this made me feel like I was 17 all over again. Thank you. 😊❤

I was way too young to understand what some of the lyrics meant when this song was first released but always enjoyed it! They had some great music out back in the day. Try Joy to the World - one of the best first lines in music history!

I got to see Three Dog Night every weekend at the Red Lion in Champaign Illinois during the early 1970s. Great musicians with their own style of rock. One of my favorite groups and I still love this song!

3 Dog Night...members from Los Angeles but their name refers to night temperatures..the colder..the more dogs needed... Formed in '67..known from '68-'75 achieving 21 consecutive Billboard Top 40's and 12 consecutive Gold Albums... They were still touring and recording in 2012..43 years after their first album... Thanks for the memories Greg...🌿🌿🌿

I was around 13 years old when this song came out and I had no idea what he was singing about because my birthday parties were nothing like that. but I really dug the song anyways. has a nice beat and great singers. Every time I came on the radio I'd pump up the volume. My dad would bang on the wall of course.

One of my greatest joys is seeing huge smiles and laughter of young people, enjoying the same music that I enjoyed in my very early teen years preteen! This the way that you feel about stuff like this is the same way we felt about it back then and it brings back a lot of great memories. Thank you!!❤
