Eddie decided he didn't want to see Dime, wanted to remember him the in same way as when they met, so Zach Wilde put it in for him. Not during this specific concert, They were planning on filming it and told Eddie in advance to NOT get drunk. he ended up NOT drinking for two days. they recorded the first night in New Haven but the film got destroyed. They re-recorded the concert aging & well the rest is history!

He has one he did after Eddie passed that will break your heart.. Wolfie can play anything Eddie did-Eddie made sure of that. There was Nothing in his life he was prouder of than his Son.♥️

@@Jackielocksagreed. Wolf could be the next Van Halen artistically and talent wise but he has too much respect for his dad to attempt it. Wolf can shred and writes good songs but Ed still had that “extra” that no one, not even Wolf, will ever have. And I know Wolf is cool with that! The guy was tapping with one finger on the 3rd fret 2 fingers on the 5th fret and his pinky on the 8th. Lol not only would that be fuckin miserable to do most of the way threw a long ass solo but to be able to accurately reach that far across the neck is goals

He was also going so fast the cameras couldnt pick up the finger movements. It's crazy

@@xaphan8581 It really isnt THAT miserable. He is incredible because he WROTEEEE this stuff. You can impress almost anyone who doesnt play, by doing clean tapping. Because they cant wrap their head around that you arent strumming and that its sounds like there is no gap. Anytime someone does the dreaded "Oh you play guitar, HERE, play us something...." I start doing tapping because the response to it is "This dude is a master of his craft" and you really DONT have to be amster to achieve that. The actual skill comes in being able to write this fucking solo. Also, this live version, he does plays on stuff leading into the actual parts of the song. THATS talent. I firmly hold ground as a guitarist, thats not actually hard to tap. Its harder and cooler when you write a tapping part.

@@pedrolantyer song "Eruption" recorded as studio version in late of 70s. But this live show ought to be in 80s, since the vocalist appeared on the stage was Sammy Haggar. Sammy joined Van Halen in 80s, replaced David Lee Roth.

They just decided to add Eruption to 1977 album because it sounded cool. Same with Cathedral on Diver Down album in '82. If you are thinking of Rush's "Spirit of Radio" which sounds similar, that was actually a hammer on riff that was released in 1980 (3 years AFTER Eruption was recorded to album). The first time I heard Van Halen, 1978 I was 15 years old. I was at my nextdoor neighbor's house. She had just gotten a 45rpm that had Eruption on side A and Jamie's Cry'n on the B side. My life would never be the same.

You and me both. When I first heard Van Halen, I hated it. I couldn't understand how Eddie was playing like that. My friend and I used to play pool in his basement and he would put Van Halen on the record player so that I would lose concentration and lose at pool. After a while, I really started to like it. And then LOVE it (and started to beat him at pool too). I bought every album (yes... vinyl), after that and was crushed when he passed. I set up my keyboard sound system and played Eruption at 1000 watts / channel, full volume. Loved his music. Love his playing. Out of control and in control at the same time. Right on the edge. His mastery is truly missed.

That's what I was going to comment on. When they're saying "He's getting this vibe from somewhere" they are right because he's rendering Baroque Chamber Music from the early 18th century. The fact he could do that on an electric guitar was both ground-breaking and mind-bending.

His parents were classical musicians and it shows. Same here. Mom introduced me to every kind of music she could find and never tried to steer me in any direction. My choices. Thats love

@@mutinyrider666 - Yep. Steve Vai, and Vito Bratta could do it VERY well also. Vita looked up to Eddie like most guitarist do, but was on of the few who sounded great to. He had a more melodic sound playing with White Lion, because the music was different, but loved Vito also.
