My Step Dad played in a band with Frank Beard before he joined ZZ Top. The band wanted to go with a different drummer, but it was definitely Beard who had the last laugh.

This song is from the album Eliminator , which is also the name of the hotrod you saw in the video . The car is a 1933 Ford that belongs to Billy Gibbons , the lead guitar and lead singer .

ZZ Top are one of the best bands I've seen live. You might like Nationwide and Doubleback Please look into some great Irish artists: Thin Lizzy ( The Boys are back in town, Jailbreak, the Cowboy Song); Rory Gallagher ( Big Guns, Bad Penny, Sinner Boy); Gary Moore ( Parisiean Walkways, Sill got the Blues) and up and coming Belfast band Dea Matrona

Rad song/epic video - so much fun - when MTV had videos that were truly entertaining & had a narrative - the Boys truly 'got that' - True story : Frank Beard, the whiskerless drummer ironcially so, was watching the new channel having no clue what it was and called his mates to come over and watch - at one point one said "When does this concert end?" LOL

ZZ Top is one of the best bands Texas ever produced. Billy Gibbons on lead vocals and guitar, Dusty Hill on bass and lead vocals (sometimes), and Frank Beard on drums and backing vocals. Frank is the one without the beard, lol! I've got 6 more tracks for you that I am fairly certain you'll love too, Jayy. You'd love doing a marathon with them. :) 6. Pearl Necklace 5. La Grange 4. Hey Jayy!! "That lil ole band from Texas" ZZ Top is a three piece band consisting of two guys with beards and one named Beard (who doesn't wear one). ZZ Top are: "The Rev. Billy G" (Billy Gibbons) plays guitar - Dusty Hill plays the bass and Frank Beard is the drummer - You can tell how old a picture of then is by the length of Billy & Dusty's beards. I once heard Billy saw that he's afraid to shave his beard off, "I don't know what's under there" Great Blues Boogie band and Billy G is a certified "tonemeister" of the electric guitar. The guitar "hook" in this song is borrowed directly from the blues legend John Lee Hooker, as is the little vocal inflection you mentioned. For reference check out "Boom, Boom" by John Lee Hooker I haven't read through the comments yet but I expect that you'll see most, if not all, of these song suggestions for you to react to. They're all great so you can feel pretty comfortable picking any of them to jam:. ZZTop are great, and the Eliminator album launched them globally. SDM is actually the 2nd in a set of videos from the album. Gimmie All Your Loving was the 1st, then this, then TV Dinners and then Legs. All featured the girls, the Key and the Car. It then carried on into Afterburner, the following album, with the songs Sleeping Bag and Rough Boy.

Billy Givens is the lead guitar and singer. There are a base and a drum and that is it. all that sound is from just three guys. The drummers name is Beard and he is the only one without one. Back in the 60s, Billy opened for Jimmi Hendrix. Their Song LaGrange is about a brothel in Texas. It is done in the style of Blues legend John Lee Hooker. The musical, THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS, both the play and the movie (starring Dolly Parton) are about this same brothel Their songs WAITIN' FOR THE BUSS/JESUS DONE LEFT CHICAGO is done in the Mississippi Delta Blues style as BLUE JEANS BLUES.

ZZ Top still is an intact band and they sound almost exactly the same in concert. You should check out if they are coming near you soon. I wouldn't wait to long because Frank Beard looks like he might not be well.

Hey Jayy, the blue jays always sing along whenever I play ZZ Top "La Grange" in the back yard. I guess the string pinches in the guitar solo sound like bird calls to them or something.
