Proof is portraying the friend in the hospital dieing, which is sad especially due to how he was killed a few years after this music video was made, but he is portraying Bugz, who was a friend of theirs and a member of D12 who was killed before this video was released.

This song always hits me hard, this was Em at his most vulnerable and honest at the time. He poured his heart into the lyrics and you can tell he wanted to stop the violence. Also, the way he sampled the Martika song, "Toy Soldiers" and gave it new life? That's the icing on this cake. Single-handedly one of the most brilliant updates to an 80's pop song, one that was even more powerful than the original. Anytime I hear this, I get emotional. The rawness, authenticity and beauty of it all just catches you off guard.

I feel like there needs 2b something in between Castle & Arose bcuz it isn't obvious what's happening. I looked it up bcuz I heard him talking about waking up in the hospital and he was angry and he couldn't talk. The trauma in his voice... and it sounds like he hasn't even had anyone to talk to about any of it like hes just been alone with it all these years. Putting that song at the end of that album was dumb tho , I listened to Revival and didn't even hear Castle or Arose. It's weird. He needs to fix the curating and re-release that shit. Revival Remixed. Revive it. Lol

I think this video hits extra hard of course because Proof.. literally dies in it.. close to the same way he died in real life.. And it's about all the beefs that Em had been through at the time.. pretty introspective song and tragic video Also the phrase "Toy Soldiers" is pretty deep as well.. talking about the record labels using rappers as "Toy Soldiers" to make profits off of beef and drama.
@ChelseaCouture-cv4pw
@ChelseaCouture-cv4pw 6 ай бұрын
Also "toy soldiers" like being retrospectively told what to do n if they don't do it it's beef or just they get there whole rep flushed down the drain. Like rap music was supposed to be a genre of the underground music genre getting the respect and getting getting to be heard like coming together to conquer a conglomerate government who left the "unworthy" to die ..well looks like they won cause they just turned everyone against themselves to wipe out what they build like when em says " I had to give u a career to destroy it " in his diss to mgk ..makes so much sense because he not just talking about mgk the point is to read between the lines ..but so many ppl r to stuck in the matrix to see it

This song was powerful, because Em was the only person to talk about this situation that involved more than half a dozen people and someone lost their life over beef. While there were other songs from Em and other pertaining to this issue, this song was almost like his final telling of the story. This was a big turning point between music and real life, and I think it shook Eminem a little bit. This was a time when Em finally saw that the music and the streets could be combined and aren't always separated like we all hope it to be. Dre found Em, and Em found 50 Cent, and when 50 Cent got in beef with Murda music, there was a two sided war between everyone on Murda music (Ja Rule, Fat Joe, and even Big Pun in the early risings), and essentially Aftermath records. What was supposed to be an escape from the streets was the manifestation of how the street life can creep into the music business. I think this moment made Eminem much stronger, but it took a life to get there. That is why this song his so powerful. They all went into the music industry to escape the hood, but the music became the hood, and guns were fired, wars were waged and people got injured and killed. We all talk about the east and west coast beef in the nineties, but many forget how important this time was. A very sad ending

This song also served to try and end some of the feuds. It put the "I'll be the bigger person and end this" feel on the track. What he said was “I went my whole career without ever mention SUGE, and that was just outta respect & not running my mouth talking about something I know nothing about, plus Dre told me stay out, it just wasn’t my beef.” Suge as in Suge Knight because back at that time Dr. Dre had beef with Suge.

It used to be a Michigan thing to say Hallie Jade was the most protected person in Detroit because it wasn't just Em, it was D12, Runyan Ave, and everyone in the D. Look up what happened to Everlast when he came to Detroit after D-12 released Quiter. Beautiful might be the Eminem song that hits me the hardest. You reacted to it, but I wish you had done the official video. It hits on another level as a love song to Detroit in ways only Michiganders who recognize the locations would understand.

That song really was the song to end all feuds. He said he was done with the beefs and for a decade, actually was. He just let the current beefs lie, didn't respond to any other attempts to poke the bear. MGK was the first one he responded to since then and that was pretty mild. Also the song that gets me choked up is both Castle and Arose from his Revival album... You have to do Castle first then Arose after. The two songs go together. Em never had any intention of releasing that song. I think his disappointed that it was even leaked. His flow and tone on the beat is utterly depressing in terms of being heavy on drugs when it was recorded especially at the coffin part. One of the best things this song does is call out the violence in the rap industry. Something Eminem is very vocal against. Rappers killing other rappers has been a thing since the 80's and Em, in this video, is saying stop! Why you killing each other just because you came up in different hoods. Music is supposed to unite people. That's the message of the song and one we need to listen to.

Snoop said it best when he said "Don't get it fucked up, Right now Marshall is dormant but if ya'll push the wrong buttons the beast Slim Shady will appear out of nowhere".

Hey Lily, I love your videos. I would love to see your reaction to R.A. The Rugged Man. My suggestions would be First Born, Wondering (How to Believe), Legendary Loser, Still Get Through the Day, and Uncommon Valor. I know that's alot of songs, but I really would love to see your reactions to these tracks, and I think alot of others would also like hearing your interpretation of those songs. RA can make you hype, disgusted, emotional, and many other feelings. You won't be disappointed, I promise.
