I’ve been waiting for this one. I played this as a kid shortly before the bus saga was finished. It was my first dragon ball game and i rented this so many times anytime i was in the mood after watching dbz movies or episodes on toonami. I thought it was the best thing ever until the sequels came out.

Hello Madison. I can't wait for you to play the Story Mode in DBZ Budokai. This game takes me back when I was a Freshman back in High School. I played this game non stop. Now at 36 years old, DBZ Budokai is still my favorite Fighting game. No Spoilers, you will absolutely enjoy the Story Mode and unlocking new characters 👍

Oh wow! One thing I picked up on immediately is that Baris has you playing the HD version, which ordinarily replaces the OST of the original releases. However, he seems to have modded the soundtrack files in the game so that the original OST remains intact. That's exactly what I did with mine. I'm so glad he went above and beyond so that you could experience these in the most definitive way possible. The OG OST can't be beat and truly gets you pumped up!

Woah awesome. If you wanna really get to know the moves you can practice them while putting the settings to keep them still, and going through the moves. P is punch K is kick and G is guard. So super saiyan you had to press all 3 at the same time. So if you see buttons together in the skills press them at the same time

Yay finally!! Don’t feel bad about whether you are good at this game Madison! I am pretty good at a lot of the DBZ games but I am notoriously bad at “fighting style (mortal Kombat gameplay) ” ones because for some reason I suck at remembering the combination and pressing the buttons in order quickly enough to perform the move :/ there are so many different styles of DBZ games to play if you ever think one isn’t for you! My personal faves that I would recommend are Legacy of Goku 2 and buu’s fury(use a Gameboy Advanced emulator they are only like 8 hours and super arcadey) as well as tenchaichi 3 (best toy box arena fighter with easy to understand controls) and Xenoverse 2(something new for the franchise). Cannot wait to follow you on this journey :))

Even though the dub you watch uses the pronunciation of KAYO-KEN. The correct pronunciation is KAIO-KEN. (Think King Kai=Kaio-ken if you have trouble remember). Early dubs had mispronounced it and later on it was corrected in DBZ Kai, Super, and even in abridged where it was first pointed out

I love this!!!! just remember, some DBZ games are hard as fuck so be patient xD Also, I hope you get to play the tenkaichi games too, they are easier than the budokai ones. Just try to get used to the controls as much as you can. It will make you better as a gamer in the long run. If it helps, look for a tutorial on youtube. It will shorten the learning curve a lot. I also hope you get to play the Batman Arkham games eventually. Keep it going, I'm already subscribed!

Great job. I love your channel. By the way Madison toriyama revealed nappa shaved his head as symbol that he takes martial arts seriously. He also revealed that nappa is fairly intelligent but is hotheaded. Nappa is the general of the saiyan army and trains them.

This is a hard game to start your gaming career because it has more mechanics than the average fightning game. Here's a few tips even though I might be missremembering some stuff cause the game is super old : - Training mode goes forever : You'll never lose nor win there and every damage done is healed after a combo. - Dont be afraid to pause mid game at any point and check the movelist (it changes depending not only on the character but also on which arc of the story you are playing). You aren't supposed to remember how to do every move and there's no penalty for pausing. - You need to manage your Ki (the yellow bar/number under the Health bar) not only to do special moves but also for transformations (Kaioken, Super Saiyan, etc). Some transformations ask you to have at least 3 Ki bars and after that you'll start losing Ki over time while the transformation is on...but you would be able to still charge ki while transformed and thats mandatory on harder fights cause you'll have to be on your best form and also have a lot of extra Ki to do the bests moves (like Kamehameha while on Super Saiyan mode). Its a bit hard to get used to at first but you'll eventually get it. - The capsules on the bottom right/left are your current moveset (again,its different on every character/arc). I think you can customize it to your liking but you need to play the story mode to unlock the moves/characters/stages and more. That's why this is harder to play than lets say Street Fighter because there every character has a fixed movelist but in Budokai you'll end up choosing your favourite moves (or the more broken ones xD) so its like a Fighting game+RPG.

I seem to recall there's a quick get-up mechanic in a lot of fighting games, where you tap a button after getting knocked down, so that you quickly stand up. . . .
