True story, the best memories are often the crazy close calls with disaster 😂 my parents rented a really small pontoon boat in the 80's at Crater Lake in Oregon. Assuming little kids don't count as adults We were definitely over the passenger limit. We lost a few good coolers, towels and soaked a few passengers.... apparently everyone running to the back to see something cool....can make you tip into the lake...who knew 😂....not my city life Dad that's who.

Went night pontooning once with some friends and ran into a sandbar, broke the propeller and had a long, slow ride back. I didnt mind too much... it wasn't my boat and I wasn't driving 😂

I'm from Minnesota, and this was so true. Plus it really brought memories flooding back. My folks lived on a lake, my grandparents also lived on a lake when I was growing up. We were always fishing, swimming, or just sitting on the dock watching the water and listening to the loons. Thank you for this memory. Grandpa had a pontoon, and I loved it. My folks had one too. We even dove from it. So much fun.

One time my parents went drinking late at night on the pontoon and ran out of gas in the middle of the lake. None of us kids answered our phones because we were all sleeping. Luckily, my parents found the water skis in the boat and were able to paddle safely to shore. To this day, we still laugh about how funny that must’ve looked. Good memories are made on the ‘toon.

As a teenager, I once sheared a cotter pin out on the lake and had no paddle (long before cell phones), so one of us lay on his belly and paddled with an ice cream pail, while I kept tossing the anchor out ahead and pulling us forward. Very slowly.
