Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. Buckeye, you now need to react to Band-Mate's newest release titled "Bestie". It is almost the complete opposite of "Hate?" Roger is the Johnny Appleseed of Band-Maid music. We Band-Maid fans call ourselves Maidiacs. We are also plentiful. Once you jump down the "pigeon-hole" of Band-Maid music it's going to be hard to forget them. I'm a 75 year old veteran and have see a lot of great rock and roll in my life, from the conic to the not so well known. Band-Maid has reinvigorated my love of rock and roll, after decades of not being impressed with the genre. Many Maidiac feel the same way. I have managed to attend two of their live concerts. I not only come away from them impressed and feeling they were worth every penny I spent, I was moving around like a damned teenager during the shows!

Perhaps the greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century! Drummer Akane Hirose and bassist MISA are definitely the best rhythm section in currently touring hard rock and roll bands. Miku Kobato is the absolute brightest and funniest 2nd vocalist/lyricist/rhythm guitarist/ founder and spokesperson on the planet! Saiki Atsumi is the sweetest and most charismatic lead singer (who also wrote the lyrics to this song) alive. Kanami Tono is the most inventive, creative and collaborative composer/ lead guitarist currently amazing fans of proper rock music across the USA and Japan. This is an uncharacteristicly negative song for BandMaid however it is so over the top venomous as to be charming. As I mentioned previously Saiki wrote these lyrics so DO NOT PISS HER OFF! Thanks for the reaction and comments. These ladies are FIRE!!!!! About 5 songs into their extensive catalogue, you'll run out of superlatives. You'll be saying "WOW...that was another amazing song. What more is there to be said that hasn't already been said?!" A general rule of thumb when reacting to a B-M song is to check out the official live video version first. They are one of those rare bands that sound better live. Some songs that do not currently have an official live video that you don't want to miss, however, are Shambles, Blooming and Influencer, just to name a few. Loved your reaction to the MAIDS BUCKEYE! There are dozens more incredible BAND-MAID songs for you to explore, and the MAIDIACS will be more than happy to assist you on your journey. I’m not a musician, so here’s how I listen to BAND-MAID songs: First listen: I just listen to the song and completely ignore the lyrics. I don’t understand most of them anyway. Upon second listen, I focus on MISA on the bass. Third listen I focus on AKANE’s drumming. On the 4th listen I focus on MIKU’s rhythm guitar. 5th listen I pay particular attention to KANAMI’s background lead guitar parts (her solos jump out at me so I don’t usually need to focus specifically on them.) After listening to the song for the 10,000th time it usually dawns on me to try to figure out the lyrics. Of course I have ADHD, and I can only focus on one thing at a time…. 😂

Hate as a theme is very unusual for a Band-maid song. Most songs are super positive and encouraging. But they wrote this in defense of a friend whose husband had a very public affair during Covid. While hate might be unusual for Band-maid, defending a friend is very Band-maid.

From an SRV fan myself, this group of musicians has reignited hard rock for me. Their songwriting chops are unmatched. Please don’t sweat the lyrics. They include enough English words and “heys” and “whoas” so everyone can join the party. 130+ songs over 11 years and going on 8 studio albums. Conservatively speaking, no less than 50-60 legitimate rock and roll bangers. Here are a couple of my favorites: “DICE,” OMV. Hair metal done Maid style. Bass solo hand off to guitar solo, and their signature dynamic emotional shifts “Moratorium,” live @ Zepp 2018 Unbelievable progressive alt rock with a breakdown solo Jerry Cantrell could’ve written. Great reaction Buckeye! Just don't be like I was for years and let the language barrier deter you from listening to some amazing music coming out of Japan and other parts of Asia. BAND-MAID alone has over 10 years worth of high quality songs to explore. It's very easy to turn closed captioning on or just Google lyrics if you need to.

They are awesome, aren't they! 👍😎🥰A minor correction, though - they aren't "solo's", initially Miku was backing on rhythm guitar, and Akane it killing it throughout as backup 😎 They do have truely awesome, solos, too - they ALL have times to shine because they aren't ego driven, but true musicians who support each other - they have at least three instrumentals, too.

Thank you to Roger for introducing you to Band-Maid. I would have guessed you already had seen them, but who knew? I'll just say, you have opened the floodgates. They may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative band since the Beatles, and they are top-tier musicians. I saw many of the classic rock bands - Purple, Zeppelin, Queen, Santana, many more, all in their heyday. I’ve seen Band-maid three times and their performances stand up to any of those legendary bands. You are going to get a lot of suggestions. First, a little background on the band: Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 Kanami Tono - Lead guitar, Main composer and arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual shred. The band was struggling early on, and in 2014, even as the label was considering dropping them, they posted the music video for “Thrill” which went viral globally. When they realized what was going on, it gave them the momentum to forge ahead, and they have now done multiple tours of Europe and the U.S. and are building a global fanbase who call themselves the Maidiacs. They have released seven full albums, as well as several EPs, singles and music videos. They have put out around 170 songs, covering a wide variety of styles and sounds, without any duds. They combine a punk vibe with instrumental virtuosity (two things that are often seen as being incompatible), and have done some amazing progressive-rock songs and ballads with a metal edge to them. They toured the U.S. in 2022 and sold out 14 cities in less than 48 hours. They followed it up with a 2023 tour which had to be expanded from their original plans. Most of us in the States don't know Japanese but we don't care. Listen to a song first then learn the lyrics later if you like. The trick will be finding a song you don't like. Good luck with that. i hope you do more Band-Maid.

Funny you mentioned The Warning and Lovebites. 3 of 5 Lovebites members were at this Yokohama show (me too!), and Band Maid will be playing a show with The Warning in Tokyo (possible collab on Band Maid's 9th full album due out early Summer). Btw, Saiki (lead V) wrote the lyrics from a 4th person prospective (Cheater, Victim, Mistress, Saiki).It appears Saiki is a "The Simpsons" fan, and wanted to use Bart's "I Hate you" phrase in a song, and here we have it, Po!
