Hey Everyone,
Looking for a classic rock reaction that explores the roots of Southern rock? Look no further than this video, where we react to Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Born on the Bayou". With its gritty vocals and bluesy guitar, this song captures the essence of swamp rock, and transports us straight to the Louisiana bayou.
But why does CCR sing about the bayou? The answer lies in their roots. John Fogerty and his bandmates grew up in California, but they were heavily influenced by the sounds of the South. "Born on the Bayou" is a tribute to the music and culture of Louisiana, and it reflects CCR's deep respect for Southern rock.
And while we're on the topic of respect, let's talk about whether CCR is the greatest band ever. Well, that's a matter of opinion. But there's no denying the impact that CCR had on the world of music. With hits like "Proud Mary", "Fortunate Son", and of course, "Born on the Bayou", they cemented their place in rock and roll history.
So sit back, relax, and join me as we delve into the world of CCR and Southern rock. We'll discuss the origins of "Born on the Bayou", explore the band's influences, and give our honest reaction to this classic track.

I grew up on the great music of the 60's-70's. CCR has always been one of my favorites. They don't have a bad song! John Fogerty has one of the most unique & recognizable voices around. All their songs are great - "Proud Mary", "Lodi", "Green River", "Commotion", "Night Time Is The Right Time", "Down On The Corner", "Fortunate Son", "Cotton Fields", "Midnight Special", "Travelin' Band", "Who'll Stop The Rain", "Up Around The Bend", "Run Through The Jungle", "Lookin' Out My Back Door", "Long As I Can See the Light", "Suzie Q", "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "I Put A Spell On You", "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" etc.

Yeah, totally agree with you. My husband and I fell in love with lots of CCR (and mostly Johnny Rivers) playing on the 8 track. Just had our 50th anniversary so maybe they all cast a spell. 😄

Another factoid on the Creedence/Southern connection. The band originated in the SF Bay Area. The Fogarty brothers were very familiar with the Sacramento River and Delta system leading to the Bay, which is very similar to the Mississippi River delta system.

From CCR's 2nd album, Bayou County, 1969, this was written by lead singer John Fogerty although he was Californian born and never been to the Bayou. Such a great rockin tune, it was the first song of their set at Woodstock. This is the B side to Proud Mary and made it to Number 2. Lots more great tunes, try " Proud Mary" Craig. Hi Millie you're are getting so big. 🐶🐶🐶 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

This reaction is like a lot I've seen of this song by people who have never heard it before. The first few seconds there's confusion (what is this?), followed by surprise when the riff starts. Next comes involuntary head bobs as the bass and drums come in then finally the raised eyebrows as John Fogerty starts the vocal. By the end most reactors are all but dancing in their chairs.
