The voice is so unique and powerful that it's a marvel on its own but putting it with his looks and charisma was God showing off when he made this man. Elvis was the birth of fangirls.

The story is Jerry Scheff the bass player, was asked to come to a rehearsal and see if he wanted to tour. He was not an Elvis fan but went telling his wife he wanted to check it out for fun. When he came home and his wife asked how did it go, he simply said "pack your bags we are going on tour.

The drummer was hired for being able to not only be a world class drummer, but to improvise just by watching Elvis. Ronny Tutt. He was the last to audition before his come back. The guy that auditioned before him used his drums and initially got the gig. He talked them into letting him go ahead and play since his drums were already set up. He was so good and his chemistry with Elvis took off from there. Anytime you see Elvis moving with the drums like that, in any song, it's the two of them working together to make the magic happen.

As I read your comment "the sexiest man ever", the vision came to me of something I did about 20 years ago. I was working in an office of an automobile company that made the components of doors. As I was walking in an aisle, I looked to my left and saw an Elvis picture. Maybe a calendar or 16"18" poster. It was a closeup, from chest up, dressed in black. I moved to the picture, the man at the desk made room for me so I could get closer for viewing. About 20 seconds later I said "Raw Sex". I turned and walked away. Then I thought, I could not believe I said that out loud. 🥰 from Kentucky

It’s fun watching younger generations discover Elvis and reacting the same way we did when he was alive. He was a cultural phenomenon and an American icon. Elvis truly is a rabbit hole worth going down and the further you go, the more you will respect/love him and realize he was a lot deeper than most entertainers. You are right about the song being about Civil Rights. Heartbroken about the news of Martin Luther King’s assassination Elvis sat down with songwriter Walter Earl Brown to come up with “If I Can Dream”. The 68 Comeback Special was supposed to be a Christmas Special and end with a Christmas song for America to hear. However Elvis put it all on the line, holding nothing back and standing up for his convictions chose to perform this song as his finale despite those around him advising him not to. Please watch “In the Ghetto” 1970 Las Vegas and note the crowd he is performing in front of. Also watch “Love Me Tender” 1970 concert. What he does will absolutely shock you and possibly make you jealous you weren’t there. Great reaction!

Great reaction to great showmanship! Elvis didn't need autotune, choreography, fireworks or an army of background dancers. Elvis was the show. Another great performance from this period I hope you can respond to is Sweet Caroline. In addition Presley gave us 3 decades of performance. Another reaction request is for the Mean Woman Blues video from '57 where Elvis shows us a little sideways moon walk.

Just to add to that nice comment you made, Elvis is voice, and feeling for music came from even deep in his bones, his left leg was almost always moving. He felt the music because music was him. He never had a singing coach and like you said he just moved to the music that he felt inside him. He was Elvis. That’s who he was. !!!

When God created my friend Elvis he was just showing off. I can't tell you how much i love and miss him, there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and cared about my feelings and opinions. What it comes down to is we both needed a true friend and we were that for each other. Awesome reaction. God bless you and your family from the one and only Memphis Tn. Fun fact he loved to make funny noises with the microphone there was NOTHING!!!!! sexual about what he did with the Microphone. My nickname for him was Sexy Jello we laughed about that all the time he thought it was hilarious.

Elvis is confident in everything he is and does but he has something a little extra too. There are confident men everywhere but Elvis has command of something that isn't available to every man and to see that it even translates through video is mind blowing.

Crazy and tragic because privately, he was insecure and shy. And felt suppressed, by his management, and especially in his acting, as he was pigeonholed into music movies but wanted to be a serious actor like James Dean. Makes you appreciate the icon he was, that he struggled with so much but achieved far more.

The visual performance is amazing, awesome. The way he moved was very special. But his vocals are great too here, the tone, the quality and the dimension of it all is awesome. Elvis was one of a kind for sure, named the King of Rock and Roll for good reason. What an icon! And he had a beautiful spirit too, very soulful, which contributed to his overall charm.

Austin Butler did a great job with the movement. The makeup department did a wretched job with his face; made Butler look plastic, creepy, and nothing like Elvis. (Except at the very end...) He was given one of the worst scripts ever written to work with. A different script, director, makeup crew, editing crew, and virtually everything else, Butler may have been in a top notch Elvis movie.

@@magnificenthonkyThank you, I agree 100%. I've talked with people from 18 to 70 in regards to the Elvis movie that thought the new Elvis movie is great. I can understand the young people thinking that way. But one 70 year old lady told me that she and 2 of her friends have seen the movie 14 times. The real Elvis is everywhere!🥰 Oh well, different strokes for different folks. from Kentucky

You're fun to watch (and saying that as a really great thing), especially b/c you 'get' Elvis right away & his sense of humor, sexuality and total command of the stage. As at this point, in 1970, he knew totally how to get the crowd in the palm of his hands. The cool part, too, is you haven't even gotten to where he really shows how powerful voice is or how he could use it like no other. At least in my view. And people try to knock Elvis for not writing his own songs, but in that era there was a distinction between singers and songwriters for a lot of people, though not at all, while Elvis had no need to write songs anyway as his way of taking a song and rearranging and producing it with new phrasing made an old song come to new life. So, for example, I would listen to the great Simon and Garfunkle hit, Bridge Over Troubled Water, and then listen to Elvis' treatment of it during the same period as he is doing these shows right here. In fact, it's kind of funny, but after Elvis did his different version, Simon turned to Garfunkel and said something to the effect of "We're F'd; what are we gonna do now?" lol While I hope I don't bore you with the extra details as I only know this stuff because I'm a professional writer and even though decade and decades younger, like you, I still got hired to write about Elvis and ended up pretty much speaking to anyone who was ever close to him. It's fun, too, because I always like to see you smiling and laughing and making faces, etc., as it makes your reactions much more than the usual thing one might see on KZfaq.

I believe that the Ice Capades designers made Elvis's jumpsuits. He wore one pieces that resembled Karate outfits so he include more physicality in the shows, especially those that showed off his practice of the martial art - which he started when he was in the army. He is really energetic during these 1970 Vegas performances and yes, this song/performance does appear to contain a lot of suggestiveness, doesn't it? The rehearsal videos for this series of shows are also really fun. Elvis likes to joke around and laugh a lot.

I discovered Tony Joe White through Elvis. Besides this song Elvis recorded 2 other tunes written by Tony which are "I've got a thing about you baby" and "For Ol Times Sake". He is also directing the band as he goes . 6:26 he puts his hand up to tell the band whatever he wanted from them and when he heard what he wanted you could tell. Total control on stage.
