Hi CVTECK1, you just discovered one of the greatest bands in the world, here is a little info about EPICA, they are a Symphonic Metal band from the Netherlands (Dutch the same as Floor), they have been around for 20 years, they have made 8 studio albums and many other releases, their catalogue of music is very diverse, covering so many different styles, ranging from breathtakingly beautiful to progressive metal and occasionally very heavy. Their lead singer is Simone Simons, she has been the singer for EPICA from the beginning when she was 17 years old, EPICA for me are the most impressive and most interesting band that I have ever heard, be prepared to be surprised every time you hear this band, they are amazing, btw Simone and Floor are great friends and have sung together many times, as you will discover they sound amazing together🙃

I'm so used to seeing people start their Epica journey from the same two or three songs that is was really nice to see someone's first reaction come from this performance. I would recommend, if you want to hear more Epica, that you check out the "Design your Universe" live performance from their retrospect show in 2013.

Epica is a metal band. They even do thrash and death as well as many of these beautiful ballads. They are simply have a huge range of songs. Simone's voice is like warm honey, even more than Floor's. But Floor has more versatility.

Epica is not a rock band… it's a symphonic metal band, quite a heavy metal band at times, much heavier than Floor and nightwish. But not in this song of course, it's just a ballad. And Simone's voice differs significantly from Floor, not in vocal techniques and skills, but in tone and timbre in the first place. Simone has a truly angelic voice and looks the same herself, a red-haired blue-eyed angel, over which time has no power at all, she is only a few years younger than Floor, but she always seems to be 25.

Epica is a heavier band than Nightwish. Simone sings like an angel. You will find harsh vocals in many of their songs, sung by Mark Jansen, no relation to Floor. He and Floor, however, were in a band together... After Forever, Floor's first band. The contrast between Simone's voice and Mark's created a unique sound. I know you'll find them amazing.

Simone and Floor have different voice types. Floor has darker richer timbre, while Simone has a lighter lyrical timbre. Floor uses her chest voice more while Simone has classical-centric style. Floor is a soprano, while Simone is a mezzo-soprano. I know people will come back at me but i still think Simone is a mezzo with higher range. Some songs require singers to use the same techniques, but it sounded different for each singers.

reminds me to nightwish but a little better :) not so much in singing but the change ups. this video has almost none. normally epica is a bit harder then nightwish and insane drummer and guitar solos !
