In "Oh my god" where Soyeon is rapping about paying the piper, she's probably referencing the Pied Piper of Hamelin. The Pied Piper is a story about this guys who was supposed to lure all these rats out of a town, but then no one wanted to pay him so he lured all the children out of the town as punishment. It kind of makes sense in the context of this song since it's all about being tempted or lured plus the slight religious context of this song (referencing like the idea of sin plus the debatable LGBTQ context of this song).

some facts abt nxde: 1. in nxde, soyeon is wearing a bullet bra/torpedo bra. bullet bras were popular especially back in the wartime era of the 1940s/50s as women wore them while working in factories to protect themselves from injuries. they weren't just for working women tho, as they were also a fashion statement piece, often worn by notable celebrities, namely marilyn monroe. nxdes concept is based off of her which is why soyeon is wearing one. 2. the song sampled in nxde is Habanera, an aria from Georges Bizet's 1875 opéra comique Carmen. it's a popular piece, which is why it sounded familiar.

the thing that makes idle so different is that they write compose, produce and also are the creative directors for their music. Soyeon, the rapper and leader is the most credited woman in 4th gen with 81 credits with her members Yuqi (deep voice) and Minnie (bangs) each having 11 and 13 respectfully. She is genuinely a visionary icon and makes sure that their music features important messages that are delivered through costumes, concept pics, music videos, lyrics as well as promotion, not to mention she has written for other artists and has been praised by legends in the industry numerous times, winning her the best songwriter award at the 2022 MMAs. All of the girls have a say in their music and their creative direction however so each comeback is truly a group effort and it pays off. They are incredible performers, and like you said they use their faces in such an expressive way so I think it might be interesting for you to see some of their live stages, especially their 2022 MMA and Mama performances as well as having a look at their put it straight Nightmare version dance practice/performance. Their US debut EP "HEAT" is out this friday, october 5th, with the title track "I want that", it is an entirely English album under another label so they haven't participated in creating the songs this time, however some major names in the industry such as Ryan Tedder and Meghan Trainor have written for them. Yep, I would argue they really are "the Stray Kids of the girls", and vice versa could be true as well, since they debuted around the same time! They are one of the most hands-on groups to exist in kpop, three of the members produce and write most of their music, and Soyeon (leader) also chooses the whole concept and aesthetics. She's also undoubtedly the best female rapper of the 4th generation
