We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions, while two songs, really operate as 2 parts of a larger song. The end of We Will Rock You naturally leads into We Are The Champions (and they usually performed one then into the other). So when the guitar solo abruptly stops, there's a pause for a beat or two (if you play one then right into the next), then it kind of flows naturally into We Are The Champions.
@ivanenkoandriy87532 жыл бұрын
We Are The Champions is another iconic song that you also heard with a very high probability. More Queen please. You probably will consider to stop after 20th their song ;)

For you to watch Queen “Somebody to love”, “We are the champions”, “Love of my life” AND above all Queen Live Aid 1985 Full Concert” - you must see all of it . To understand the impact Queen had, watch “Green Day Bohemian Rhapsody”

You are absolutely correct. Brian May wrote We Will Rock You and Freddie wrote We Are The Champions for the audiences to sing to.

Brian May, the lead guitar player wrote this song as an audience participation song. The whole song is foot stomps and hand claps until the last 40 seconds when he plays the guitar solo. Queen's live shows were known for having the audience participate with the band . Freddie Mercury wrote a tribute song for Elvis. Give a listen to Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Its has a rock-a-billy sound. The band also loved Aretha Franklin and did a song as a tribute to her. Listen to Somebody To Love.

Whether you watch it here or on your own, watch their performance at Live Aid. It's a long set, but it's often regarded as the best live performance in music history.

The purpose for writing this song was to get their fans involved in their concerts. That was one of the unique things about Queen which you REALLY no longer come across today anymore, their fans came 1st and they genuinely loved them. Like a good chef that will never send a bad plate out with his name behind it, Queen would not perform without giving absolute perfection! Instead of pushing their performances out to the crowd, they involved the crowd and invited them into their performances and always felt like they were singing and "hanging" with the band. Watch it live, as with all their songs, they are much better live, editing equipment used on videos and tracks took away from their talent because they were better than the editing that had to be used on most bands recordings. If you find a song you are not sure you are into, like for me it was "Radio Gaga" (Which is where Lady Gaga got her name from, she is a huge Queen fan) revisit the song in a live performance, 9 out of 10 times it will change your mind. You are going to find they do not stick to one genre, and you are going to be in a rabbit hole so deep with so many twists and turns, not knowing what they are going to throw at you around the next corner, but find you don't want to come out of it because they never disappoint. Welcome to the Queen Army and you'll come to see...it is an Army of people...lol

@laurenraubaugh95422 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of their songs I'm sure you've heard! "We Are the Champions" was meant to be played right after this one, another classic anthem. "Another One Bites the Dust", too! Michael Jackson convinced them to release that one when they weren't sure - he was a big Queen fan, and it was before he really got started on his own solo career ("Another One Bites the Dust" was released shortly before Michael's "Billie Jean", for timeline purposes). You've probably also heard "You're My Best Friend" (in tons of movies and commercials), "Don't Stop Me Now" (same, haha), "I Want to Break Free" (I think it's currently in the background of a cruise line commercial, but hopefully you've also heard it elsewhere!), "I Want It All" (again, it's been played almost everywhere)... even the Flash Gordon theme (if you've heard "Flash! Ah Ah! Savior of the universe!" then yep, that's it). "Fat Bottomed Girls" is another one with tons of radio play (and another with a stellar live version: At the Bowl in 1982). My favorite Queen song is "Somebody to Love", which was also huge but happens to have been Freddie's favorite as well. Check it out live in Montreal (in 1981) AND in Milton Keynes (1982)! Freddie always performed it differently, and it was amazing each time. And of course, watch Live Aid for the best rock performance of all time. They only had 20 minutes set aside during a huge, globally broadcasted fundraising event with tons of the best artists of the 80s on the roster (Led Zeppelin, Elton John, U2 - it was epic!) and Queen absolutely stole the show.

I was looking to see if you had done certain bands and none of the ones I looked for were there. If you haven't listened to many 70's bands you are really missing out on the best music in history. Queen is right on top of the list. If you would like to see a great crowd watch Queen - Rock in Rio - Love of my Life. It was a two day concert that had 1.5 million people. People as far as you could see. It was, at that time, the largest paying audience in history. That will show you how much everyone loved Freddie. Then look into some other bands like Led Zeppelin - Stairway to heaven, The Rolling Stones - Paint it Black, Ram Jam - Black Betty, The Bee Gees - Too Much Heaven and there are thousands more. I will subscribe if you do more 60's and 70's songs. I think you will really like some of them. Queen was the only reason I found you. thank you for the reaction. You did great!

Iconic rock songs? Where to start... Well you have hit two of the biggest from Queen, there is so much more down that rabbit hole. To truly experience Queen you should check out some of their live shows. "Somebody to Love" Live Montreal 1981 is a good one to hear what Freddy can do with his voice. Though to see what it was like at a Queen concert check out the full (roughly 20 min) Live Aid set that they did in 1985. Now onto some other bands. While this next band would be considered "Rock" now in their time they were considered "Hard Rock". Led Zepplin is one of my favorites, and while going straight for the iconic "Stairway to Heaven", or "Black Dog" maybe have a look at (ok listen to) "Communication Breakdown", "Kashmir", "When the Levee Breaks", "Dazed and Confused", The Battle of Evermore", "What is and What Should Never Be", I could just keep going but should just leave it there. Next lets explore another one of the BIG names to come across for the UK. The Beatles. While I feel that a lot of the music was overplayed they did have some good songs, just that the ones that I like didn't get on the radio much if at all. So down this rabbit hole we have "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Harts Club Band", "With a Little Help From My Friends", "Yellow Submarine", and "Norwegian Wood" are just a few to stand out. Now for something that falls more into "Folk Rock" than any thing else. Simon and Garfunkel. They had some solid hits like, "The Sound of Silence" (been covered by a lot of groups), "Scarborough Fair", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "MS. Robinson", "Homeward Bound", "59th St. Bridge Song", "Cecilia", "The Boxer". That is just a snow flake on the tip of the ice burg of music you are wanting to delve into. Hope you're ready.
