Charlie was rapping country music in the 70's.. and doing it well. Playing that fiddle like nobody's business. RIP Charlie Daniels.

Welcome to 1979, Charlie Daniels is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. This song is still played on both classic country and classic rock radio stations. Charlie Daniels passed away in 2020, and until Covid shut everything down was still touring. This was back when you go to a concert and got your money's worth. They are ones who wrote this and other songs.

The song, the Charlie Daniels Band & the late Charlie Daniels are legendary. No autotune - no backing tracks, no lip-synching. That's one of the big pluses with country & acapella singers/bands - what you see is what you get. What you heard on a studio video is what you're gonna hear live. Thanks for playing this & your comments.

This 90+ minute concert. And YES, they played their own instruments. Charlie was the fiddle man

They were the headliners. They probably played for a couple of hours. Charlie had a few hits. My favorites are Uneasy Rider, the South's Gonna Do It Again (about music not the civil war) and Long Haired Country Boy. Charlie wrote the song with a little help.

Nothing better in country music to me as a Steel Guitar and a Fiddle. True country sound.. In today's country music.. more ppl looking like you .. but in 1977 when I think this was recorded.. not so much.. you weren't alive yet. I was 10.. Thankfully thing have changed but good music is still good music

The Follow-up / sequal is called { The Devil Comes Back To Georgia }. Mark O'Connor who had the idea for the song one of his [ Hero's ] was Charlie Daniels. So Mark aproached Charlie about doing the follow-up song.

I lived in Mt. Juliet, just outside of Nashville. Charlie lived on a ranch there until he died. I met him at an awards show i worked when i lived in Nashville and shook the hand that played that fiddle! He was a super nice guy and a patriot until he died.

Charlie Daniels was one of the greats. Before he formed his own band, Daniels played with Bob Dylan on several albums perhaps most famously on Nashville Skyline. The lyrics of this song are informative for someone new to bluegrass. "Fire on the Mountain (run boys run)" "Devil's in the House of the Rising Sun" "Chicken in the bread pan picking out dough" "Granny does your dog bite? No child no." Are all classic bluegrass fiddle riffs. So Daniels is beating the Devil with the country music.

3:59..I'm a keyboardist ( 500 shows before I retired) and I'll tell you we do most of our melody and riffs with our right hand. . By the time of this show, you can bet Charlie and Co. had played/rehearsed this song at least 100 times and could've did it in thier sleep onstage. Big 1 # crossover hit for him ,even FM rock stations had it on heavy rotation. And I bet that Devil's still sore from the azz- whippin' Johnny gave him.

1: Why were you surprised they were playing in such a large and packed arena? The Charlie Daniels Band were true stars. 2: "yo, he's playing that himself!" Of course Charlie Daniels was playing his fiddle himself. What you watched is from the era where musicians/bands needed talent .. actual talent .. real talent. They didn't, and couldn't, rely on canned sampled crap and auto tune. They had to do it themselves, and they did it a damn better than anyone today is making 'fake music.' -- Also, if you delve deep enough into music from The Golden Era of Rock you will find that MANY modern songs sample MANY, MANY songs from The Golden Era of Rock. If not for musicians, bands, artists of that era much of what's been released in the 90s and 2000s either wouldn't have existed or it would have sucked even more than it did/does because the 'fake' musicians, bands, artists' wouldn't have had a massive reserve of pure talent from the past to draw from.

The CDB ( Charlie Daniels Band ) was a " Country " group in the 70's and 80's ; maybe even late 60's - even though they were { Labeled as } country ; Country , Southern Rock , and a few other music genres were put together to make up the sound. I would suggest you at least listen to -The Devil Comes Back To Georgia - I originaly found it on an album by Mark O'Connor called - Hero's-.

Yes...back in the day, musicians played their own instruments, didn't have things like autotune, et al. They had to be truly talented. Unfortunately, that's not the case now. In addition, live shows used to be an absolute blast to go to....and tickets were usually around $15-$20. I'm shocked at ticket prices nowadays and don't understand how anyone can afford to see a live show. Charlie Daniels (RIP) was from North Carolina.

@@WitchessJae When I Googled him, there was just as much that countered racism. If there's evidence that he was, and I missed it, then I apologize. That said, would you consider what I meant about fanning the flames. Was there a benefit in what you wrote? I don't mean to discount your opinion either. What IS beneficial is that we learn and share each others culture, which is happening now, more that ever. THIS is what should be encouraged and talked about, which will in turn, manifest more of the same.
