This is definitely one of if not their best live performances from that dvd. This song really kinda needs the video they did for it cause it’s not always so clear what’s going on but it’s a fucking craaaazy vibe. Awesome reaction.

So I’m coming in super late, but the Rev (drummer) composed this and they somehow got session players of oingo boingo which is what your picking up on with the spooky/quirky vibe. Danny elfman was a member of oingo boingo.

Life Is But A Dream full album reaction would blow your mind boss, and there is a ridiculous rabbit hole of A7X music that spans traditional metal, country, symphony, even elements from rap and R&B. They are true audioheads that are always trying to push boundaries and redefine genres and and what we think they can be musically. Really cool stuff

The song was original meant to be the closing track on a Halloween EP the band was doing. The Rev came up with the idea, and basically was the main composer/creator for the song. Track ended up being so fucking good they slapped it on their main album they had releasing instead. Been into this band since 2005 and it's by far my favourite track by them, I see it as Avenged Sevenfolds 'Bohemian Rhapsody', just all over the place, out there as well but musically just so engaging and unique.

This is one of my favorite A7X songs ever, if not my favorite A7X song. I consider this the ultimate version of the song, it's even better than the studio recorded version in my opinion. The guitars in the intro, The Rev singing extra parts, it's incredible. Wish they'd do more rock opera style songs, honestly think they would have if The Rev was still around. Also, I'm so mad at myself for missing this concert, someone even had tickets for me way back then. Went to a (a now long ex) GFs birthday party instead, lol.

Hey cliff! In case you didn't get the underlying story, here it is: It starts off with the man and woman on a date. He doesn't want anything to go wrong in the relationship, so in a psycho fashion, he kills her. He then uses her for negrophilic acts. Well through cosmic fate, she comes back from the dead as a zombie. She then kills him in the exact same fashion he killed her. He ends up coming back to life too, and pledges that he's willing to spend the rest of his undead life making up to her what he did. She insists that he'll have to do that literally forever since he'll never be able to make it up to her. Because of this, they decide to get married. Being undead and murderers, they then just go on a killing spree, living happily ever after.

Nice Reaction! It's hard to understand what the song is about with just the lyrics. Whoever requested this should have filled you in a little on what the song is about (it tells a story which is a little disturbing). The Official Video is animated and follows the lyrics closely. The Rev wrote this song and he died about a year after this concert, which was recorded for a DVD, which is why the audio and video quality is so good.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND "Tom Traubert's Blues (4 Sheets to the Wind in Copenhagen)" by Tom Waits (Also known as "Waltzing Matilda"). His voice is so unique that one critic once described it as though "it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months and then taken outside & run over with a car"!
