They are a Russian Siberian indigenous music group that mixes elements of local folk music with modern pop, incorporating traditional instruments, lyrics, and languages. The band members are of Siberian ethnicities and live in tiny villages along the Chulym river in the taiga of Krasnoyarsk Krai.

Asyan is the vocalist. Dive into Otyken "Phenomenon" and then "Altay". Your mind will be blown. They are from the Siberian section of Russia. They sing in a mix of languages including Chulyum and Russian. The "horse headed fiddle" is the instrument in question, or "Morin Khur". In this song, many of the intonations that Azyan uses represent sounds of nature. The high pitched sound she uses is representative of a hawk, for example.

I think the band name is pronounced Ah-Tee-Ken... but I might be wrong. They are members of a native Siberian tribe, from north central Asia, and the language they are using is spoken by only about ten thousand people in the world. I first discovered them when they released the single 'Atlay' in a collaboration with Ummet Ozcan, a Turkish throat singer.
