Unlike AGT, BGT used to be absolutely riddled with joke acts. Her demeanor and speech patterns led the audience to believe she was going to present a joke act. They really weren't being mean - but they got the shock of their lives.

2 points. Like Simon said there were alot of bad singers that day so expectations were low. They could have taken those crowd reactions from anytime and edited them in there.

Susan Boyle had a bit of a rocky couple of years early on. She was touring and had a bit of a breakdown. Simon took her under his wing and scaled back the touring. She also sought medical help and was diagnosed with Asperger's. She is financially set for life and is now living her best life. She remodeled the home she lived in with her mother and still lives there. She makes appearances and records when she wants to and putters around her garden when she wants to.

I have to say this: You're referring to her beauty was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard, especially from a young man like you. So many people talk about her appearance in a negative way that I am so touched that you saw her soul instead of just her humble appearance. This was my all-time favorite audition; the crowd was laughing at her and mocking her, she was such an underdog. While she appeared confident, she has said in interviews that she knew the audience was making fun of her and felt like running off the stage but decided to try to prove them wrong. It was such an act of courage, especially as she has Asperberger's, a type of autism. Simon Cowell signed her and tried to support and protect her as she's struggled with fame.

Susan Boyle's talent show audition is one of the few genuine overnight sensations. Her audition was so astonishingly spectacular that she was heard around the world by the next morning. That voice would have been an unexpected shock no matter who stood on that stage. The sudden fame was too much strain on Susan and even more than Simon could anticipate. We might have lost her, but he intervened. She now has her own recording studio that she co-owns with Simon. He can connect her with anything she might need from the music industry.

Where as, the thing I always remember about Paul’s audition was how self conscious he said he was, and he looked absolutely terrified before he started singing.
