This is, in fact, their most popular song Their most ICONIC hit I was raised on Bon Jovi, so this is the song of my PEOPLE, and it was so fun watching you react to it!

What a great reaction, couldn't stop smiling, when watching. Bon Jovi are amongst the greatest artists ever imo. You could choose 30 songs and they will all be great. Some suggestions "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Always", "It's My Life", "Bed of Roses", "Wanted Dead or Alive", "Bad Medicine" etc.
@theaceguitarist2 жыл бұрын
I’d also suggest “Lie to Me” and “In These Arms”

Completely agree. I'd like to add "Keep the Faith" and "I'll be there for you" to this list. And at least 5 others, which only proves your initial statement.

I remember sometime in the mid to late 90s (maybe even early 2000s) I made a mix CD to play at work (Pizza Hut delivery) and had this song on it. Going through all the music on it, and this song came on and the whole kitchen team started singing it out loud, managers and all. Didn't matter what age the staff were or what sort of music they were into, everyone had to just join in with this one. Such a great memory.

There isn't a bad song on that album. brings back alot of memories growing up in the 80s.
@jp38132 жыл бұрын
There were better selections though. I'd personally replace "Social Disease" w/ "Edge of a Broken Heart" as well as "Wild in the Streets" w/ "Borderline".

I love how happy you looked the second you recognized it and started singing along! If you want to get pure chills, you should check out the live version of this song from the New Years Eve 1988 special at the Tokyo Dome, absolutely amazing!!!

Jon Bon Jovi was the reason I got into songwriting. It is unbelievable how much hit songs this band has had over the years. It’s such a shame to see Jon struggling with his vocals these days but when you hear the crowd sing along to songs like this, you can see that the legacy he has and I think that’s pretty cool.

This is their signature song, their national anthem, but in their long career, they collected a LOT of iconic songs. Maybe the most proficuous hit single in terms of selling is "Always". I suggest to you to complete the Holy Trinity of their most celebrated early hits: "You Give Love a Bad Name" and especially "Wanted Dead or Alive".

Jon Bon Jovi and his band used to play a lot down in Asbury Park, NJ when he was starting out on the late seventies into the early eighties. While I spent a lot of time hanging out there around the same time, I never saw him play. Spent most of my time at the Stone Pony listening to Springsteen and Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. His crowd was a few years younger than the one I hung with.

The other really big song by Bon Jovi is "You give love a bad name". I also recommend checking out the band Shinedown. A good first song to check out to get the gist of them would be "Second Chance" or "Sound of Madness".

Only have seen them once live back on their 7800 Farenheit tour when they opened for Ratt (Invasion of Your Privacy tour). Which was their album before Slippery When Wet that this is off of. Even then, it was soooo obvious that they had that lightning in a bottle so to speak and Jon was already a phenomenal frontman. You could tell they were going to hit it big.

When Bon Jovi was big, I was young and snobby, and looked down my nose at them as a "hair band", and even if I actually thought something had a good hook, I didn't admit that to many people. To me, it wasn't cool to like Bon Jovi. Luckily, I matured, and though it took a while I eventually came to allow myself to enjoy music even if I didn't "respect" it. That sounds harsh, but I was a young musician who loved complexity, and with few exceptions I was dismissive of simple music. Now days (if you didn't get it from the "When Bon Jovi was big" line above, I'm old) I am very comfortable enjoying catchy music, even if it's not harmonically and rhythmically engaging. 4 chords, 3 chords... whatever... 4/4 time... sure. It's fine. I'm glad I got over myself enough to be "okay" with accepting that I enjoy the music I enjoy, and that's really all there is to it. Sure, I might appreciate more complicated music on a different level, but it's fine to listen to anything if I like it for what it is. There is still a part of me... that long gone "snob"... it's creeping around in my head somewhere. I don't want to say that this is my genuine opinion, but that part of me says, "Bon Jovi is awful... except for the few times they aren't. Then they are awesome." That's really just recidivism. I don't own that statement. I will not defend that position. But, uh, yeah... it's a part of me too. This song, Bon Jovi is awesome.

Thanks to MTV back in the day when they actually played videos the made it possible for so many artists to make some change. These guys were more than "pretty". They actually brought talent with them and sold it to us. Good for them. Most of the other songs are already listed so a repeat isn't necessary. It's too bad I never got to see them live but always wanted to. I got a little turned off that Jon is a hard core socialist but that doesn't decrease his talent. If I let that effect me I wouldn't be listening to the music I do.

I'd like to suggest to you a few Bon Jovi songs that are not most popular but are a great way to see into what great musicians all of them are, esp. drummer and guitarist, and how versatile musically the band is: Homebound Train (or alternately 99 in the Shade), Dry County, If I was your mother, and Love for Sale. As a bonus - their amazing rendition of Crazy (known from Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Kenny Rogers or other country singers) with the drummer Tico Torres on vocals.
