They were entitled to very little media coverage and some influential people did everything they could to destroy them... This piece is from their first trilogy which dealt with the educational system, the pressure on youth and the importance of letting a child evolve at his own pace and according to his dreams... I don't remember ever hearing someone say to me "it's okay, if you're not sure, take a break or step back"... it was more like "no one is going to wait for you" or "this dream is better for you"... At the time I had to choose a university branch, I didn't really know what I wanted to do, but according to my parents there was no time to lose so I followed their dream... I regret it today... Anyway... Here's what you need to know about this title. “Tomorrow” is a song written and composed by BTS and their company, put in their 2014 album, “School Luv Affair”. The song demonstrates the struggles of being a young person trying to follow your dreams in a world where people are settling for nothing. It references times when you are working so hard to complete what you want to do in life, but being setback. It says that it’s okay to pause and take a break, then continue, but never stop pursuing it just because it seems impossible now, because eventually, as long as you work hard, everything will fall into place. So in summary, Keep following your dream, even though things discourage you and the world is settling for less. Here the explanations of some lines: SAME DAY, SAME MOON 24/7 EVERY MOMENT REPEATS MY LIFE IS IN BETWEEN JOBLESS TWENTY-SOMETHINGS ARE AFRAID OF TOMORROW IT’S FUNNY, YOU THINK ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WHEN YOU’RE A KID WHEN YOU FEEL HOW HARD IT IS TO GET THROUGH A DAY This verse is trying to show the view of a young adult towards life. It portrays the confusion and frustration that comes with having to maintain a routine, especially for those who are trying to make a living. Suga (Min Yoongi) also mentions youth unemployment which is a major societal problem in South Korea : youth inactiveness and the fact that 80% of the college graduates are job seekers while only 30% of jobs demand highly educated workers are the reason for a lot of young korean people’s outrage. I HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO BUT WHY AM I RUNNING IN PLACE? Taehyung is pointing out how many elders will tell us that we have a “long way to go” and “this is only just the beginning” but it feels like nothing is getting accomplished. Like we are just running in place, using up all our energy on things that keep repeating. EVEN IF IT BREAKS DOWN, OH BETTER Not achieving your dreams on the first try might end up being better, leading you to greater opportunities if you stay persistent. What they are trying to say is : a dream being broken on the way is not the end of your road. BECAUSE THE DAWN RIGHT BEFORE THE SUN RISES IS THE DARKEST The moments before someone achieves success tend to be filled with hardships and trouble; and even though everything might appear dark at that time, we mustn’t forget that life is a cycle and that something good might come up soon. EVEN IN THE FAR FUTURE, NEVER FORGET THE YOU OF RIGHT NOW Instead of blaming ourselves for not being good enough, or not achieving enough yet; we should, on the contrary, cherish the person we became and focus on trying to not forget ourselves on the way. BTS are saying this to their fans but it is also supposed to ring true for them, RM mentioned a lot this idea of “ the you of now” during the HYYH tour and they’re trying to stay dedicated and true to themselves on their road of success. THE TOMORROW WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR BECOMES THE NAME OF YESTERDAY AT SOME POINT I feel he’s stating this from the point-of-view of some body who’s already given up. This basically states that if you want the day you’re living through right now to be over, and you’re waiting for tomorrow (even though you know it will be the same) , you’ll just end up pushing through life instead of going along with it. You’ll end up wasting your life wanting tomorrow to come even though you’ll get tired of it because tomorrow does become yesterday, and you need to take control of the moment. YEAH, I’LL PROBABLY FLOW SOMEWHERE, IS THERE AN END TO THIS MAZE? The maze refers to life in general. The portrayal of Life as a maze was used multiple times during the Hyyh era and its epilogue Young Forever showed the boys getting out of it. THIS ISN’T A STOP BUT JUST A PAUSE IN YOUR LIFE FOR A BREAK TURN UP YOUR THUMBS AND PRESS PLAY SO EVERYONE CAN SEE Your life won’t stop if you take a much needed break, you’re just pausing it. 4:31 is just jungkook harmonizing with his own back vocal lol him and did that whole back and forth part and sounded beautiful together... but the last “tomorrrrrrooooooowwwww whooooaaaaa” part is just jk... what is crazy to me that I don’t think I have ever seen one of them do is that ... like when jimin sings that part the next time he sings then”tomorrow” and it just ends without the whole “whhhooaaaaaa” part ... but jk he’s hitting that whole low run and he’s bent down and kinda crouching ... if you look he’s in that position while doing the beginning of that part but sounds crystal clear and it is EXTREMELY hard to sing bent over like that bc it constricts your whole chest, would make it hard to control your breathing and have the blood rushing to your head lol that part always gets me bc if you don’t really understand singing and the importance of posture while singing... it may not look like that big of a deal... but it’s pretty cool. I’ll have to pay attention more when they’re all singing in more songs now bc I’m sure other people do it too... I just never noticed until now lol luckily this is an entire of group of insanely talented, hard working, dedicated and exceptional artists.. I’m constantly surprised by one or more of them in anything I see lol love this group Edit: also I’m not saying that jimin couldn’t have done the part the way jungkook did in just saying he didn’t here but I think it’s bc hobi came in right after jimin with a little rap/singing in a similar lower tone like JKs was so I think that was the reason for the switch up in the parts. And like vs part was with that effect so he sang a totally different part and Jin always seems to sing standing straight up... like he does very little choreo during his parts... he almost always is just standing straight up in the middle when there’s choreo or kinda walking slowly, or out in front alone in faster stuff... they just all have different styles for doing specific things and just as a group they use them all so well to get the best out of each member... it’s magic I swear Love each and every one of them! What in the actual hell... I mean you have jungkook making sexy eye contact with us with a bit of a wink and then he does a huge solo pelvic thrust... but then you have jimin sing/cry out in something that almost sounded like a moan?!?!!!?! Well the thigh grab and movement maybe could have been how they said Ctrl +c and ctrl+v which is “copy and paste” and they do that same move basically only changing that one hand placement and they also said something about running in place... so could possibly be those two things put together but with a sexy way bc they know armys so well lol also when they do that they take their arm and kinda cover their eyes with the inner part of their elbow and sing something about it being “darkest before the dawn,” so could be showing it’s dark by covering their eyes and they put their arm down when they say “tomorrow,” showing it went from dark, covering eyes to dawn, removing their arm from their eyes. I always thought they changed the sound of V's vocals, becuase it's supposed to reflect your inner thoughts. It's also the only part of the lyrics where they're singing "I". The rest is looking outwards, like "you". Just my theory.
