Fun fact: Iron Maiden has not used tour buses in a long, long time. Bruce Dickinson, the singer, is a licensed pilot type rated on multiple airliner-sized jets and he flies the band and crew from place to place while touring. The had a Boeing 757 for years, but upgraded to a 747 a few years back. The jet is known as "Ed Force One"! So cool.

Not anymore he had his ticket pulled by the FAA and the British FAA which is about right as most of the major airlines force retirement at 60 and Bruce is now 65 yrs. That is what I heard not sure if it is true.

@@amyballard2495 When was your first concert? Mine was the Peice of Mind tour in 83' in Seattle which is about an hour from Tacoma where I live and I still remember the fun me and my 3 buddies had trying to get home from that concert (my buddies older brother ditched us) in the middle of the night that night. Let's just say a little mischief and a few cops were involved lol. But still the third best concert ever after Deep Purple Perfect Strangers tour and AC/DC's flick of the switch tour and that one only because someone shot off a flair gun and set the Tacoma Domes wooden roof on fire and while they were clearing people out AC/DC started playing This House is on Fire.

About Iron Maiden being dadrock: Bruce says their fanbase is like plywood. Every year a new layer forms and it all sticks together. That is true, they keep building layers of fans of all ages. My sons are 9 and 5 years old. They think Maiden is music for moms because I like them so much 😂 my 5 year old likes them too, so here's to another layer: up the irons 🤘

Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills. It's about English settlers from England taking away land from Native Americans and the Native Americans fighting to keep their land. A British band writing a song about American history, imagine that?
@azzajames76616 ай бұрын
They sing about United States Cavalry as they are doing their galloping on the Plains. They say white-man came across the sea, so they are talking about Europeans, not just the British/English/scottish/welsh/irish people.

Dad rock is a relative term. This came out when I was 12 and am now pushing 50. My son loves Iron Maiden and I even took him to see them last year. I guess it depends on the age you are when you first hear them. I love all of their music from the different eras and it’s good to see them still toucans recording. Lead singer, Bruce Dickinson, is an author, public speaker, high level competitive fencer, cancer survivor, and airline pilot along with his work with Iron Maiden and a solo career. He actually pilots the band’s own plane while on tour.

Firstly , Iron Maiden are not satanic,they have written on the subject, like many other good VS evil subjects, They are story tellers and even act some songs out in costumed theatrics. This song wasted years I would consider a power ballad. It's one of their more mellow songs, and the lyrics are pretty straight forward. I recommend you stay with the Maiden train...it puts a smile on your face! Try reacting also to Fear of The Dark / Run to the Hills / 2 Minutes 2 Midnight / Brave New World / Chains of Misery / Book of Souls

What could have been a toss-off song from the biggest heavy metal band in the world has endured and really taken a place among their songs as one of the most profound, honest efforts of their career. A bit more listenable, still with the distinctive fire they always brought. Definitely holds up well nearly 40 years later. My daughter is 16, this is one of her favorite songs, I've taken her to see Maiden twice, when she was 9 and 13. They were my first concert at age 15 in 1984. I wouldn’t say Maiden is “dad rock” but they are amongst the peak of classic heavy metal bordering on power metal before sub genres were defined. With them you’ll find the pioneers of the genre in bands like Judas Priest or the god among men Ozzy/Sabbath. If you really want to see the roots definitely check out solo Ozzy Osbourne or Black Sabbath (their debut was 1970 so they predate all the metal you’ve listened to and laid the foundation for all of those bands)

This video is so good. I love that this song is inspiring people all these years later. It truly is their best and my all-time favorite song EVER. UP THE IRONS! Also the reason it has that 80's sound is because Tom Sholz, founder and the main songwriter and guitarist from the band Boston, is also an engineer and back in the early 80's he founded a company called Sholz Research & Design to sell his tech. He developed a guitar distortion rack effect unit called a Rockman that had special distortion and chorus sounds. Initially designed for use on his bands albums he sold this tech to a lot of other bands. SO many that you ended up having that sound on a ton of popular and highly-influential albums. Some of those albums include Def Leppard's Hysteria (Pour Some Sugar On Me), ZZ Top's 'Eliminator' (She's Got Legs) and Afterburner (Planet Of Women), and of course Iron Maiden's Somewhere In Time which this song is off of. The Rockman along with units like the Eventide harmonizer became ubiquitous on rock and metal albums of the era. It wasn't until Eddie Van Halen helped develop the Peavy 5150 amplifier in the early 90's that the sound of modern rock would shift. By that time you had amps like the Mesa Boogie rectifier (used most famously on Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power album) and others making it so rock and metal began to have a wider variety in guitar sounds.
