About Ceni's skills as a goalkeeper, he's considered the greatest idol in São Paulo's history, and he won an award for being the best player on FIFA's 2005 Club WC, when they won it against Liverpool. He became the first freekick taker of Sao Paulo in 1997. In this year the club had not scored not even one goal from freekicks and the coach realized that Rogerio Ceni was the only player who was training freekicks. He trained everyday for the whole carreer. So in that year he got a chance to prove himself. Guess what? He scored in his first official test. Two games later he scored again. About R.Ceni career, at the beginning of his career, he was a midfielder with great first touches and corners and free kicks. Later he become a keeper but he never stopped training his skills on free kicks, after every single training day he would put the ball and start shooting at the goal.

hahaha the reaction seeing Kaka! Kaka was a kid when he started playing for Sao Paulo in the early 2000s. We was champion for the Copa Rio Sao Paulo with like only 17 years old, if Im ont mistaken, and returned to play for one season before going back to Orlando before retirement. He was BORN in São Paulo FC and will probably work in the club somewhere in the future.

Rogerio Ceni only reached these numbers, almost impossible for another goalkeeper because he had the determination to train... by his own will... 2 hours more and more than 100 shots, for years in a row. He once declared that most skills in sports are acquired through training and repetition. Repeat and repeat, over and over again. I think it's possible, not probable, that another goalkeeper could do what he did, but it will be many, many years before that can happen. Rogerio Ceni wrote his name in football history and nobody erases that!

You asked about it, well, there was once. One time he went to take a free kick, and he scored. He took his time with celebrations (which didn't took long, as, you know, he's still a keeper and has to get back on goal), but as he was running back, the other team went for a quick restart of the game and one player knowing he was outside (not the hardest thing to spot on right) made a halfway goal (even with the keeper not in his proper place, not that easy to do, there would be no sweeper keeper thing if so) right away, like, one short sideway pass to him from central spot to put ball back in play, first touch and imediate attemp, and goal. Fun fact, guy that score this goal (more than 10 year ago, maybe more than 15) now is a football pundit on sport live tv coverage. Just picture a sequence of lively footbal, a keeper going to the other box, scoring a goal, then the other team went to score a halfway line range goal while he's coming back, pure madness, wonderful (and the keeper team even won the game in the end, tho he didn't score another that day if i recall it right). But, even telling this story, thing is, he was quite good at taking free kicks and penalties, which he did because he praticed a lot to do so (also helps that for a keeper he was fairly decent skilled) so it actually made sense that he took some (well, at least after he got some reputation at it, at the start of it, problably not so much, but things that defy logic and expectations ain't really a big part of what makes the sport great ? also i guess that he started it on moments that were, well, more open to give it a try than like a big match that been real close, and after showing quality on pratices), even if he weren't taking all of them. But for taking direct free kicks for example, maybe not all the time, as he had a long career and played with many quality players, he was for good chunks of his time the best free kick taker on his team, so if there was a good one, it actually made more sense that it may look so (and he didn't went on all ones, but regurlaly did), even as taking risks. He also was quite good at making saves too, like real deal. No wonder he was a club legend (i'm not even a fan of his team, but his legacy speaks for itself).
