The Beatles were a one off. Extremely melodic and able to write a massive amount of songs in a short time...they could write masterpieces while using only 2 minutes

Help is such a great first Beatles song to hear. Its=;s probably their best earlier song and John's voice is just spectacular.

That massive piano chord at the beginning of this video is a snippet of the end of "A Day in the Life," the final song off the Beatles' album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

As well as having hit after hit records, the Beatles opened up a door for the youth of the sixties. Their insouciance and humor lampooning their elders was like catnip to teens.

I completely agree. There's something so beautiful about music without the addition of other sounds. Just musicians singing amazing songs to great music.

From Blackpool night out, the iconic theatre where this was filmed is now demolished and is a car park.

They were so fun live. I don't think it was easier to make hits back then at all because the competition was fierce and the outlets for it were much fewer than today. But on the other hand, The Beatles were exceptional because it was very easy for them to make hits once they became known. They produced hits one after the other at an insane rate. But you always have to keep in mind that they scrapped really really really hard for a long time before that to get to that point.

it wasn’t particularly easier to get hits back then, it probably just sounds like it in retrospect but people were still trying to innovate the sounds and song catchiness that we know so well today

You are the FIRST reactor I have seen that has actually POINTED OUT that you could understand all the lyrics by the end of the song. You are SO RIGHT, it's NOT like that for most songs today, at least for ME. I rarely can understand any of the lyrics in a lot of songs I hear today, or see being performed on late night shows. I have to put on closed captioning on the TV and hope they are SHOWING WHAT they are saying in their songs. Yet, never had a problem understanding all the lyrics in the Beatles' songs when I heard them for the first time, back in Dec. 1963 and through their entire career as a group.

When John and Paul first started writing songs, Paul said that they wrote simple songs that they could remember the lyrics to. They figured if they couldn't remember the lyrics the next day, they weren't any good anyway. They also felt that if they couldn't remember the lyrics, neither could the fans.

Since disco did in rock n' roll theres been very little talent in music. And the CORAP they shovel out today, WTF. Jim
