In this video we will be taking our first look at the group "Home Free". We will be watching two song videos by them. First, we will watch their cover of Johhny Cash's classic "Ring of Fire". They collaborated with Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix on this one. Next, we will be watching a collaboration with "The Oak Ridge Boys" on their song "Elvira.

Home Free isn't just 'Southern" or just "country". They have country, sacred, hilarious, somber, pop, even opera. Their catalog is deep and wide - over 160 official videos at this point, going back to late 2013. enjoy the rabbit hole. HF was created in 2000/2001 by Chris and Adam Rupp (baritone and beatboxer). Over the next 12 years there were various tenors and basses. Rob joined around 2010/2011, Tim a bit later and Austin in 2012. They won season 4 of The Sing Off in 2013. Chris left in 2016 to follow his solo career and they brought in Adam Chance as baritone/bass.

My favorite vocal band! Try "Listen to the Music", " Love Train", "End of the Road", "When a Man Loves a Woman", "Helplessly Hoping" (covers). Their newer releases, mostly post-pandemic, are originals, my favorite of all those "Playing With Fire." You can't go wrong -- their talents are equalled by their diversity. They are, by name: Austin Brown (high tenor), Rob Lundquist (tenor), Adam Chance (baritone/bass), Tim Foust (bass with a 5 octave range), and last but not least, Adam Rupp (percussionist who swallowed his drum kit). I enjoyed your double feature and your comments! More Home Free, please!

The Oakridge Boys are friends and mentors of Home Free, they sometimes surprise Home Free when HF plays at the Grand Ole Opry. One of things we home fries love about Home Free is their humility and lack of ego. When they collaborate with other artists they always give the spotlight to their guests. They also vote on who leads in any song they perform. They have collaborations with Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Lee Greenwood and Don McLean, Don and Kenny contacted Home Free to do collaborations with them. Will save more information until next time. So glad to see you enjoying our guys. Subbed to see how deep you go down the Home Free rabbit hole, you won't be disappointed.

I don't think anyones mention the Stargazer Trilogy. While stuck at home (although they were still doing videos for their arranger to put together and post every other Friday) during quarantine Austin and Tim did a good amount of song writing. Thus was born their album So Long Dixie, with 12 of 14 tracks being originals. The trilogy is Give Me a Sign, Stargazer Lilies, and MR. All beautiful songs and heart warming videos, with Austin and his beloved lady Amberly telling a story of their love. Note: the photographer in the hallway with Amberly in MR is Sami, Chance's wife.

Home Free is labeled as a country acapella group, but they can do all genres of music from opera to R &he B and everything in between. They met Voiceplay when the two groups competed on the show The Sing-Off which was an acapella competition show on season four. They formed a close friendship during the show. Home Free won the competition. Home Free also met Pentatonix with Avi on The Sing-Off. Pentatonix as the season three winners of The Sing-Off were the guest performers for the season four finale. Home Free's performance of Ring of Fire was a turning point in the competition and in their career. It was through the show's challenges that Home Free began to become more aware of the extent of their abilities. Tim Foust is Home Free's bass. He has a five-octave range so he can also sing tenor and baritone. He is originally from Texas, but now lives in Nashville. Rob Lundquist, the man with the beard and glasses is the lead tenor. He has operatic training and his professors urged him to pursue a career in opera. He chose a different career path. He lives in Minnesota Austin Brown, the man in the Elvira t-shirt, is the high tenor. He had a full college scholarship in musical theater. He is originally from South Georgia, but now lives in Nashville. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. He is probably one of the best beatboxers in the world. He is a tenor but prefers to beat box. He co-founded Home Free with his older brother Chris -his best friend Matt Attwood in 2001. Adam and Matt were teenagers. Matt and Chris are no longer members of Home Free. Adam, his brother Chris, and Adam's friend Matt all live in Minnesota where they started Home Free. Chris Rupp is Adam's older brother and co-founder of Home Free. He is the guy with the hat on Elvira. and the plaid shirt. He is a baritone. These two videos are older so Chris is in them. He quit the group several years ago to pursue individual projects. He also performs in another acapella group with his and Adam's sister Tristan. Adam Chance who is called Chance to prevent confusion became a member of the group after Chris resigned. He isn't in these two videos. Chance has a four-octave range. He usually sings baritone, but can also sing bass. He previously sang in another acapella group that the first runner up on season two of The Sing-Off. Chance is from Alabama, but lives in California. Home wFree does not have a lead singer. They all sing lead except the Rupp brothers. Besides Home Free, the members have their individual solo projects and projects with other musicians. The guys are humble down to earth guys who work hard at their art. Suggestions: End of the Road, Man of Constant Sorrow, Buttz Remi, Talking Out Loud/Let's Get It On, Listen to the Music. These songs show their wide range. However, you can't really go wrong with any of their songs.

Chris did occasionally sing lead, but seemed to prefer to write arrangements where he sang harmony, and since he did a lot of their arrangements, he did a lot of harmony. But the songs arranged by Adam, Tim, and Austin were more likely to include him on a lead part. Adam often sings little bits of harmony here and there. Their videographers are notorious for not showing him singing, though, so it's hard to pick out. Heck, he sang full-on lead for a bit in My Country Tis of Thee and we got a wide shot with him in silhouette. He also has short lead parts in How Great Thou Art and Quarantine.
@lazylady8591
@lazylady8591 11 ай бұрын
@@lrfcowper Adam does sing small parts but he doesn't sing a large part as the others do. He sang one of his largest parts when he sang the chorus of It is Well With My Soul as a part of How Great Thou Art . A great example of Chris singing is on his channel. He sings Long Black Train with Tim. Adam started beatboxing when Home Free began. The group didn't have a beatboxer and Adam volunteered to do it. He started studying how to do beatboxing by watching a video tape. Adam had majored in music and he played several instruments. He also learned to play the drums to help his beatboxing.

This group has been together since about 2000, and although their main focus is country, they can and do sing almost every genre. Their beatboxer Adam Rupp, together with his brother Chris Rupp (in this video but has since left the group to go solo), started the group in Minnesota. Adam Rupp is a two time world champion beatboxer, and can do amazing things with his voice. You must watch his "drum solo" performance, which is available here on KZfaq. They won season four of "The Sing-Off" in 2013, the next season after Pentatonix won. Voiceplay was also a competitor in season four against Home Free and the other groups.

A couple of things ... the top three acapella groups (in no particular order) - Pentatonix, Home Free, VoicePlay - have very different styles, have collaborated together, and are actually friends. When The Oak Ridge Boys did this song, they had a band playing the music behind them while they sang. Here, they are all singing their normal parts, while Home Free is providing all of the 'backing music' . While they did switch off some lead melody parts with HF, the Oak Ridge Boys sang the song exactly as they did 40 some years ago.

Great first reaction. You will notice one lineup change when you watch more recent videos. In 2016, a couple of years after HF won the sing off, Chris Rupp (original group founder) left to concentrate on producing and solo work. He was replaced by Adam Chance (bari/bass). While the change was sad for us Home Fries (fans) in many ways it has given the group more flexibility and allowed Tim (super bass) to take the lead and swap bass roles with Chance when called for. Start with Man of Constant Sorrow Then - In The Blood Hillbilly Bone Some Girls Do As already noted, you can't go wrong with anything HF does.

They are fantastic live! They've been together in the current configuration on sine 2016, but the group was founded in 2000 by Chris Rupp (cap in Elvira) and his brother, Adam ( vocal percussion). In 2014 they were asked by Sing-Off people if they'd be country. Since they were leaning that way, it wasn't muc h of stretch, but they can sing literally anything. If you want something that kind of introduces them, their cover of Workin' Fot a Living is good. It's also funny. If you want to see them all do a little beatboxing and other sounds, Man of Constant Sorrow is good. For perfect (or near perfect) 5 part harmony, Helplessly Hoping or How Great Thou Art. They have more collabs, too...with Lee Greenwood and the Singing Sargents from the US Air Force Band,, Kenny Rogers, and a great version of American Pie with Don McClean. They also have many originals. Welcome to the rabbit hole!

This version of Home Free contains Chris Rupp, the co- founder of Home Free. He stepped down in 2016 to allow Adam Chance to join the group. I'm sure that he felt as I do that Chance would elevate the group to a new and higher level as I believe he has. The group now consists of Adam Rupp, the beat boxer, Austin Brown, High tenor, Rob Lundquist, tenor, Adam Chance, the baritone, Tim Faust, the base with a five octave range.

The guy in the black shirt is Rob Lundquist lead tenor. The beatboxer is Adam Rupp. Tim Foust is the bass, with a 5 octave range. The guy in the Oak Ridge Boys shirt is Austin Brown sky high tenor. And the guy in the hat is Chris Rupp the baritone and founder of the group. The group has been around for 23 years. Chris started it in college and had his little brother Adam come too. The where on the Sing Off the same season as Voiceplay, but Home Free won. They are the first All Vocal Country Band. Can't wait till you do more Home Free. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to these songs. Oh the Oak Ridge Boys are now like their mentors. They have done a lot with them.

The character with the beard is Rob Lundquist - tenor. You spotted the bass (Tim Faust). With over a 5 octave range, he can sing anything from low bass through tenor. Austin Brown (wearing the Oak Ridge Boys t-shirt) is the high tenor. Adam Rupp is the beatboxer and sings tenor when not beatboxing, and his brother Chris Rupp is a baritone. The teaser after Ring of Fire is an original song written by Tim. In the video, Avi makes a surprise appearance. When Avi walks past the camera watch Tim’s face. He had no idea Avi would photo bomb the video. Man of Constant Sorrow or Sea Shanty Medley will illustrate HFs amazing harmonies & world class beatboxing.

New subscriber. Great reaction, too! I love it when people discover Home Free. They are a freakishly talented group of fellas that excel in all music genres. They can make you laugh sometimes, they can make you cry sometimes but they always impress. Here's a cheat sheet on the group: Adam Rupp, co-founder of HF and the awesome beatboxer. Tim Foust, bass. He has a five-octave range. Rob Lundquist (glasses and beard) Tenor Harmony. Austin Brown, Lead Tenor. Adam Chance, Baritone ( goes by Chance). Chance replaced Chris Rupp (co-founder) who left in 2016. Take Me Home Country Roads is phenomenal but you might also want to check out Dreamer, When A Man Loves A Woman, End Of The Road, One Man Band, American Pie featuring Don McLean, I Swear, Blue Ain't Your Color, Dive Bar Saints, The Driver, Crazy and Folsom Prison Blues. For some funny ones: Butts Medley, All About That Bass, Champagne Taste, Hillbilly Bone and Ray Stevens' Mississippi Squirrel Revival. For some serious ones: How Great Thou Art, Go Rest High On That Mountain. When you are familiar with all the boys and their vocal roles, do Mayday. And last but not least, Brothers In Arms. It is haunting and beautiful. They have recently released several new songs that you will want to check out. Unchained Melody, Listen to the Music, Brother and their latest: Stargazer Lilies trilogy, Give Me A Sign, Stargazer Lilies and Mr. ...the list goes on. To switch it up..try Two Country Singers try singing Opera. Adam Chance just wrote the theme song to Ubisoft's new Pirate themed video game, Skull and Bones and Home Free performs it. Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!

Great start down the Home Free rabbit hole. Love these guys. I suggest a few that are quite different from these two - Helplessly Hoping which is a master class in 5-part harmony; When A Man Loves A Woman, which highlights Austin Brown, their high tenor; their cover of the Doobie Brothers' iconic Listen to the Music, which showcases Adam Rupp, the amazing vocal percussionist; Blue Aint Your Color, which features Rob Lundquist, the second tenor; I Can't Outrun You, which features Adam Chance, the bass/baritone; Forever and Ever, Amen, led by Tim Foust, the bass; and one of their very recent originals, Playing With Fire. But anywhere you start in their very deep and varied catalog you will not be disappointed.

Look for the ones on Ingrid Händel's channel. There's an older (and therefore more viewed) set of Sing-Off recordings, but they're lower quality (but very much appreciated for being the only recordings available for a long time). She has the whole season up, split into individual videos. They're well-labeled, though, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding the Home Free performances. Don't miss Home Free and The Filharmonic doing "I'm Alright" in... I think it's episode 5, but not positive, and them performing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" with Jewell in the final episode. Some folks only look for their competition songs and miss these. The groups they were up against were all very good, so if you have time, it's worth watching the full thing. If you're familiar with VoicePlay, just a warning, The Sing-Off execs encouraged them to bring a female singer on board to distinguish themselves a bit more from the zillions of "4-6 guys sing a cappella" groups out there. They'd originally wanted Rachel Potter, but she wasn't available, so they went with another friend, Honey LaRochelle. Unfortunately, they didn't really have time to figure out this new dynamic before filming started, so a lot of their songs ended up being more female soloist + backup band rather than the group you know today. A lot of folks dislike Honey for this, but I'm fairly certain it was Geoff and Layne who did most of their arrangements for the show, so it was definitely a group choice. BTW, Home Free is a country vocal band because of Sing-Off meddling. They tried out with a couple country songs and The Sing-Off execs told them being a country a cappella group would almost definitely get them on the show, so Home Free went from being a generic pop a cappella group that did a couple country songs to an explicitly country group that did some pop songs.

Great Reaction!! Welcome to Home Free rabbit hole. The group started in 2001 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp They are the only country A Capella ( all vocals no instruments)group but they can honestly sing any genre and they do As you know they won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular. Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries and are very loyal to the guys. Adam Rupp: Beatboxer Extraordinaire -Tenor can make any sound imaginable (A whole drum kit, harmonica (his Nomonica we call it )plane flyovers, trains, castanets, bugs ,birds etc).Co founder from Mankato Minnesota. Rob Lundquist :Lead tenor(beard and glasses) very soulful voice from Minneapolis,Minnesota Tim Foust :Bass (had long dark hair now short with grey ) 5+ octave range can go so low he blows speakers or sky high from Nederland,Texas Austin.Brown:High Tenor ( Long wavy hair ) voice of an angel from Tifton Georgia. Adam Chance(Aka Chance):Baritone/Bass deep,rich voice(Does the juice harp sound in Man Of Constant Sorrow) has short dark hair short beard from Baldwin County,Alabama.Replaced Chris Rupp ( Adams Brother and co founder in 2016) They have collaborated with many singers and legends Don McLean:American Pie Oak Ridge Boys:Elvira ( They are mentors to Home Free) Kenny Rodgers:Children Go Where I Send Thee (Please watch the end message) Billy Gilman:One Voice Alabama:Christmas In Dixie Mark Wills:Don’t Laugh At Me ( important message at the end ) Lee Greenwood & US Airforce Band:God Bless The USA Brooke Eden:Delta Dawn Travis Collins & Amy Sheppard: The Horses Any many more. In 20 + yrs, there have been some changes but the last change was in 2016, when Chris left the group and Chance stepped in. If nothing else, you will learn tgat Home Free consistently defies being put in a box. The guy on the other end (with the ball cap) is the other Rupp brother (who left the group). The bass singer, Tim Foust, has 5 octave range (listen to him sing "Misty Mountains and "My Maria" to hear a sample). The last young guy is Austin Brown, the high tenor. But don't be fooled their voices and talents are extremely flexible. For a change, listen to "Two Country Singers Sing Opera". Rob and Austin will shock you.

Born and raised in SC and it’s the norm having barn fires from fall to early spring every yr. Ok here goes. You’ll have to figure out who’s who…….Austin Brown, auburn hair, 1st tenor, Rob Lundquist, black hair, beard, glasses, 2nd tenor, Tim Foust, long black hair, Bass/Baritone, he also has a 5 octave range that’s unbelievable, Adam Chance, who wasn’t in this one has dark brown hair with a trimmed beard and stash, bass and I’m not sure if he’d be considered a tenor as well, so don’t hold me to that. Then there’s Adam Rupp……. The blond, world class beatboxer, literally, who also helps with vocals some. When a Man Loves a Woman, Unchained Melody, American Pie ft. Don McLean, The Butts Remix, The Sea Shanty Medley, Mayday, Brothers in Arms, How Great Thou Art. That should get you started. Welcome!!!
