U2 has always been a prime example of a band that sounds just as good, or even better live, as their recorded versions. If the chance ever presents itself please go see them. It will be a concert you won't soon forget! 🦋

A rare band that wasn’t into drugs (except the bass player smoked weed) and they were quite religious. A lot of churches study their lyrics. They got together in school when the drummer was 14 and none of them knew how to play their instruments. Bono and his wife raised a ton of money after visiting Africa and witnessed the starving children. Speaking of his wife, Bono wrote a song for her called “All I Want Is You” and that song done live at Slane Castle in 2001 leads into “Where the Streets Have No Name”….fantastic transition! 🙌🏼🔥👍🏽 please react to both. 👏🏼👏🏼 PS. - Their Superbowl halftime performance is considered one of the best ( and not lip synced).

This song came out in 1987; I was at their concert in Oakland that year, it was at the stadium where the Raiders played. Live, they were amazing; they played for about three hours. My friends and I were up in the stands, but after we went down into the field; it had been completely packed, we looked at the ground and the people had been moving so much that all of the grass on the whole field had been broken down into just a green paste, you couldn't see a blade of grass. They sounded as good or better live than on recordings; these guys are the real deal rock stars.

1987 U2 Concert, Joshua Tree Tour, at Cleveland Municipal Stadium...What a Fantastic concert!!, U2 was/is one of my all time favorite group ever(along with Queen, Depeche Mode, Chicago, Beatles, etc ) U2, Bon Jovi & Depeche Mode sounds are the classic 80's. you just dont know how influential & great U2 was to us youngsters during that time! Loved MJ, he will always be the king of pop, but U2 was politically active all around the world with their music and we all appreciated their messages with their songs, music and voices. Some of their songs, ie. "Sunday Bloody Sunday", a very popular song, was about 26 killed in Northern Ireland in 1972. Their protest songs were very popular and messages of peace was appreciated by many of us. All of us, a huge crowd, were singing this song as we were leaving the stadium, "With or Without You"!!! Such a Fabulous, Great atmosphere, such a vibe!! Will never forget this experience!❤

I am so happy I found this review. Your first time exploring U2 and I look forward to seeing your reactions to your journey into U2. I m lucky enough to have been alive and enjoyed them from their start and have seen them live in small venues when they first started to stadiums and will see them in late January at The Sphere in LV. If you want a huge introduction to them to see what they are all about they are amazing live. Check out the video of the songs "All I Want is You" and "Where the Streets Have no Name" at Slane Castle. This video will tell you all you need to know as the transition between songs will give you goosebumps. My favorite song by them is "Bad" and the live version that was on the movie "Rattle and Hum" is truly amazing but so is the live version at Live Aid concert where Bono saves a few women who were being crushed by the crowd pushing. Their catalog is amazing from the early days with "Pride (In the Name of Love)", "New Years Days", Sunday Bloody Sunday" to some of their other hits like "With or Without You" that you just reviewed to "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", "One" and I can go on and on... I look forward to joining you on this journey.

At times during a live performance they add another verse at the end and extend it and it really really fits the song.. that is the one thing that I wish they did was release a studio version where they just keep going at the end instead of fading out. Great reaction!

Nice reaction to a beautiful song. I saw them at the Sphere last month, it had been 20 years since I last saw them. There is nothing like U2 live. Check out "Pride" "Bad" "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" :Where the Streets Have No Name" and "One" to name a few - Lots of live performance videos to choose from but "Bad" at Live Aid is pretty spectacular.

Different people like different eras of U2 and I think that preference is based mostly on how old the person was when they first tuned in. A 90's kid is going to love 90's era U2 best. I have personally loved all of the eras. You will get lots of people telling you this is good but this other is trash etc. I suggest you just listen to as much as you can and make up your own mind because everyone is different. My three favorite albums of theirs are Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. But those are just my favorites. I love songs from across their whole discography. I haven't met a U2 song I didn't love. This is a DEEP rabbit hole you've discovered and they are still making music today 🥰 My current favorite song of the week is A Sort Of Homecoming from Unforgettable Fire. Oh and if someone has you do Where the Streets Have No Name, be sure to watch the audio only video first then maybe the official music video later. The official music video is amazing, but it cuts out the intro and outro of the song which are just epic. That song is like flying, but you miss half the experience without the full intro and outro.

The lyrics of the song are not dark, but honest in the sense that there can be arguments in a relationship, you can have feelings that make you think, but the decision to live together is not a change. The dynamics of a relationship can include many experiences, which makes us adults and not children in an emotional sense. This song is a metaphor.

One Tree Hill, Discothèque, Please, Exit, All Because Of You, Electric Co, Every Breaking Wave, Ordinary Love, Out Of Control, Kite, Walk On. Just a handful of U2's great songs from across their career that will highlight how diverse their catalog is. Discothèque and Exit for example. Discothèque is an upbeat, borderline techno tune while Exit is a gritty hard rock song.

A brilliant song with profound content, a little wisdom for your own life. It's about the familiarity/reliability/home=WITH and the glittering temptation=WITHOUT in a partnership, in short, about how much and what freedom you give each other in a well-functioning partnership. I haven't been to any of Bono's book readings and - since the Beatles broke up when I was a teenager - I refused to find out too much about the biography; sometimes disturbs when listening to music later. In a U2 interview I read that the familiar, reliable home or temptation on the U2 tours was mentioned in this context Unfortunately, I don't know of any other U2 song that has such a brilliantly atmospheric structure. However, ONE and SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T MAKE IT ON YOUR OWN are also little “wisdom for life”. Luckily, there are also completely different popular U2 sites, as well as lesser-known gems like KITE and MIRACLE DRUG with moving backgrounds. Great first choice💛, please keep going!!!

Go back to their early albums, TRUST ME, so you can see how they evolved musically & production wise. The early stuff has RAW voiced young BONO & very faith heavy vs later stuff, all good but definitely different. *Boy, October, War, The Unforgettable Fire.* Then, The Joshua Tree, Rattle & Hum, Acthung Baby, etc.. Some artists pays to start from the beginning.

Back when U2 wasn't so worried about writing "good" songs. Half of the appeal to early U2 was this feeling that they were barely good enough to keep the songs from flying off the rails. But the songs still worked. This is even one of their more polished songs from this time, but it's still musically sloppy - in a good way. I miss that.

Your not very knowledgable when it comes to music and why U2 swept the grammys that year. Your statements about every song on that jackso album are way off, not very bright are we , everything on most Jackson albums are all written by other people !!!! What did he himself actually WRITE , not one hit. U2 wrote all there songs plus U2 songs are very powerful just read the lyrics. Jackson was singing a lot about love, crap like that, he never took chances with subject matter, LOOK at U2 WAR , CIVIL RIGHTS, CORRUPTION ETC. STUFF THAT MADE YOU THINK. YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT LOL.
@surfersilver6610
@surfersilver6610 8 ай бұрын
This man has made it very clear he is ignorant and new to a lot of artists and is learning so your attack is unwarranted. Michael sung about a lot of 'subject matter' before Bono was even born...almost, MJ started in 1964, U2 in 1976, that's a 12 year lead. The Jackson 5 "Can You Feel It" (1980)(MJ is a co-writer) is one subject matter song. BTW 'Love' is indeed a subject matter that effects EVERY human ever, so it is KING of subject matters, Mr. Smarty 🤓Snarky Pants. Let's not nitpick about who wrote what, a lot of great artist did covers, had writers, or took from other's music to make their own. You sound like a MJ hater or deranged Prince fan.😆(I love Prince & MJ equally) ....or racist🧐(White Irish vs Black American)? *Strap in;* Man in The Mirror(1987) Beat it** Billie Jean** (false accusations on men by women) Earth Song** Black or White They Don't Care About Us** Wanna Be Startin' Something** (Gossip) Jam Is It Scary Scream We've Had Enough Money** Tabloid Junkie Threatened Shout Heal The World** There Must Be More To Life Than This (unreleased bonus, Freddie Mercury on piano, also a duet of them both, find it on YT) .....just to name a few. ** Are songs MJ wrote entirely by himself. There are many others not on this list. Every other song, in a catalog of more than 150 songs, he CO-WROTE on. He also wrote for others, I found 7 songs at minimum. Wiki has "Songs written by Michael Jackson" leads to 118 songs written or co-written by MJ. MJ established Heal The World Foundation and estimated donations of $500 million not adjusted for inflation during his life, how's that for subject matter? "Put your money where your mouth is". Just look up his Wiki bio, I can't fit all his accomplishments on 'subject' matter here. Lastly it's *You're not Your. You're not very knowledgeable about everything you wrote, the English language and YOUR grammar is faulty. YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT LOL. 🎤💧
