First Time RV Camping at a Rest Stop Parking Lot! - Electrical Issues And a Horrible Nights Sleep 😭

We failed to book any RV campsites for the night, so we drove to the nearest rest stop in Delaware for another free overnight stay in a parking lot! But things didn't end up going according to plan 😅 Do they ever??

Good film. Can't help thinking you make life hard for yourselves at times, but each to their own. I thought your overnight spot was perfect - and free. In fact, it was better than some of the campgrounds you've paid a fortune for! Point it south and keep going. Happy New Year!

It was definitely more private and quiet than many sites we've stayed in 😅 If the lights had turned off, it would have actually been a pretty relaxing stay!

Right? Every single problem here was self inflicted. They let their vehicles run out of gas at night, they did not understand the electrical system of their own vehicle, did not secure a spot for the evening before night etc. They are their own worst enemy, good thing they laugh through it all LOL

Those aren't fuses on the panel, they're airplane-style circuit breakers. If they pop out, you push them back in to reset

While you guys were looking for something to cover up your eyes, you had 2 perfectly great hats that you can just... cover your eyes with, on your heads! LOL!! And when using that and closing your eyes, it can get pretty pretty... prettyyyyyyy dark. :P

I love your positive attitude. But honestly, what you guys deal with, pretty regularly, would keep me away from living an RV lifestyle. I love my forced air heating and a warm comfy bed without worrying about who's camping next to me. You guys are amazing and I give you both credit for living your life and trying something most of us wouldn't have the courage to do. Stay safe & warm.

I don’t know how in the world you two can keep up the positive attitude. When my husband and I travel in our RV we do pretty good the first couple of weeks. But after we have blow outs, and other mechanical problems we are ready for home. Take care you two.

With the pumps closed and it being so insanely cold around Christmas I was afraid that you might have experienced frozen diesel (when it gets too cold it jells and won't flow). I was so glad when your truck started right up in the morning! Happy New Year and safe travels!

You're going to love Lynchburg! My boyfriend and I lived near that area for a few months for work and loved it! Not sure if you guys are still there, if you're into hiking, and how the weather is over there now, but I highly recommend hiking the Three Peaks of Otter! Sharp Top is one of my favorite hikes :) Safe travels!

Lynchburg has some neat walking trails. They have one that goes through an old rail tunnel. We always stop on our way to Charlottesville.

Love the truck. I’ve got a 97. Power stroke I actually ordered the truck new. You guys seem very positive. We spent many nights in rest areas in our camper.

Hey guys, I'm enjoying your videos. When you park in a parking lot look around for an area you won't take up so many spots. When you did your overhead, there were quite a few spots that appeared to be made for a rig like yours.

Unfortunately our rig is too long to pull through normal spots, so we have to park sideways, otherwise we'd block full driving lanes. We always choose spots furthest in the back away from busy entrances/exits 👍

Ya, that was definitely not our intention to fly through. We didn't explain very well in the video, but we'd already booked an Airbnb in Virginia and just got too behind to do any major stop on our drive there. We'll definitely come back at some point. I'd love to try to track down where I lived when I was born and do some fun coastal things. We'll have to come back in warmer weather when we can really get out and explore 🙌

not sure if anyone's mentioned this or you've already heard about it from research but there are a bunch of Love's travel centers that have spaces specifically for RVs. not a ton, not in every state, but worth looking into for the future. i think the prices vary depending on the location, but the one i stayed in and some of the others i've researched seem reasonable for a one night stay w/electricity and water hookups. i've only stayed in one but i felt incredibly safe. and the convenience of a gas station across the way is really nice.

Take off light switch and disconnect only one wire, any wire. Lights are off

I’ve been there before when I was driving truck picked up paper at the printing place just outside of town. It’s a cool little town nestled in the mountains I don’t think I was ever there much of it was day time.

Parking lots can be hard. The first night on our year trip was spent in a Les Schwab parking lot. We had two blowouts on our first leg. Well, our trailer had only one spare so that was an experience. We didn’t sleep well either. There was. Train track about 100 yards from where we parked.

In a pinch, I'll use the sleeve of a long sleeve tshirt or sweater and kind of wrap it around my head/ eyes if i forget my eye mask lol

Just a thought...could there be a fuse out that resulted in lights issue? We had a series of disasters this weekend. Just when one was resolved another took its place. Hugs...and warm thoughts w/lights out.
