Filipino food I think is the most underrated cuisine. Unlike fast food, it's more like home cooked by your mom or aunties. What you may have bought were the following: Adobo (can be chicken or pork) Tomato based stews: Afritada, Menudo (both w/c can be chicken or pork) or Caldereta (beef only) Lumpiang shanghai Crispy pata (w/liver sauce) Pancit Bihon (vermicelli noodles) You can also try other comfort foods: Kare-kare (beef or pork in peanut sauce). You'll be given Bagoong (shrimp paste)w/c needs to be used like wasabi since kare-kare is usually very mild. Tinola soup (chicken) Bistek (Filipino beef steak) Sinigang soup (rated one of the world best soups; can be chicken, pork, shrimp or veggies); the soup you'll need to adapt since the base is tamarind w/c is new for a lot of people Sisig Nilaga soup (pork, beef or veggies) Tocino (filipino bacon), longganisa (our sausage) or tapa (beef jerky-like) Pancit Canton (egg noodles) Leche flan or Cassava cake (dessert) Lechon kawali Chop suey (mixed veggies- typically paired with any meat) Fried bangus (Milkfish - different taste from other fish) usually paired with Mung soup (Munggo) Turon (banana dessert) Bilo-bilo (my fave dessert; coconut cream based) Bicol express Dinuguan (exotic dish) Pork BBQ These are the most popular so you wont go wrong. Yes, aunties are the best. You can call them Aunty or Tita and they will be warmer to you. Have a great time discovering new tastes.

I often hear that the Filipino cuisine is underrated,but for me, it's not the food that is underrated, but the number of restaurant locations that is really underrated, cause it's literally quite a few Filipino restaurants only, that is owned and operated in most states. Probably because every Filipino or nearly almost all Filipino know how to cook authentic Filipino dish, and thought of having it done in their very own kitchen, rather than considering it as a business. In most Filipino parties, guests love to be invited by their hosts, over and over again, and there's always a lots of take home of food, plates are most often empty, and food on top of the table gone, so many orders from customers, plus the appreciation of the guests on how they so much loved the taste of the food, be it in a restaurant, in a food truck, or in the residence where the party is held, as the food is almost always gone....So this clearly shows that the Filipino cuisine is absolutely "great!", and doesn't have to be underrated.....🇵🇭

Just like everyone in the comments, Filipino cuisine is considered one of the most underrated cuisines in the food industry/culinary world. I’m really glad that you like it. That’s the beauty of Filipino food, it’s a mixture of many cultures; Chinese, Indian, Spanish and American. Also not all Filipino food dishes are all in the same. Each island/region has a different take on the dish; where one may use chicken, pork or beef as their protein and the other will use fish, shrimp or clams. The dish with the carrots and olives that you like, that’s Kaldereta/Caldereta. 🙂

Chicken in Tomato Sauce is Chicken Apritada, while a Beef is Beef Caldereta, If it's Pork then it is Pork Mechado (some are cooked with less sauce though). The Crispy Deep Fried Pork is Lechon Kawali, and the sauce for it is called Mang Tomas (brand name) Liver Sauce. The Pork or Chicken in Soy Sauce is Adobo. A thick stir fry noodles is Pancit Canton while those thin noodles is called Pancit Bihon. The Lumpia is called Lumpiang Shanghai which is good with a sweet and sour sauce. Hi. I think the one w olive is caldereta. That kind of restaurant is called “Turo-turo” (point-point). Everything is pre-cooked and you “point” at what ever looks good…..yum yum. My first meal when I visited vegas was at this resto in the early evening when food tend to be not so yum looking but still tasty. Yum yum. #sso

Filipino soul food. Even though you did not grew up with this kind of food it is in someway nostalgic, feels like grandma cooking. Let me help you out a little on what you just had to the best of my knowledge: From your plate, the First bite, looks like beef caldereta. Second looks like chicken afritada or more of the beef caldereta. Third pork adobo. Next to the pork adobo was the chicken adobo and the lechon kawali (crispy pork). Noodles will be some type of pancit. Of course the lumpia. Few tips: Try to squeeze some lemon with the pancit. Mix the shave ice desert (halo-halo) well before having it (fun fact: “halo” means mix in filipino language/tagalog). Enjoyed your video.

Check your receipt to know what you ordered. I can name a few, noodles = pancit bihon, pork adobo, mechado: with green peas, not olives, chicken adobo. Lechon kawali = crispy pork. Shanghai lumpia = spring rolls.

Halo-halo means mix mix. You need to mix first and let the ice melts a bit.

Im new to this channel and first came to mind, filipino food review what?, she looks filipina or southeast asian origin. Anyways, you choosed the right food to show to the world. They were the most commonly favorite in everyday life of pinoys, you can easily find it in carinderia or streetfood. You should also be aware that pinoy foods are not diet-friendly or halal, most dishes have pork ingredients. Halal are mostly from the minorities of southern part of the country.
