I watched the 1994 Disney film Angels in the Outback, starring Danny Glover, Joshep Gordon-Lewitt, Matthew McConaughey, Tony Danza, Christopher Lloyd, Adrien Brody, Taylor Negron, and Brenda Fricker (among many others!). As a non-American person, I don't relate to baseball. However, after this film, I wanna study the game cause visually it looks awesome and very entertaining to watch! And can we talk about how J.P. was just about the cutest kid Disney has ever put forward??

Crazy that we got to see Joseph Gordon Levitt, Matthew McConaughey, and Adrien Brody in this movie before they became big stars

I always read that last pitch, where Roger "sees" the Angel, he's looking at Mel cause Mel is the Angel. Even if he knew nothing was wrong.

Loved this movie growing up. It came out when I was 11 or 12, so the right age for me. Not many reactors do this movie, so thank you for doing it.

To be fair to the coach, his life is on the line. It's more than a game to him, it's how he earns his living.

Baseball is very popular in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Cuba, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and some other countries. Baseball is played in many European nations, though it is in its infancy as a fledgling sport. Italy and the Netherlands have modest professional leagues. There is a German national that plays in our Major Leagues with the Detroit Tigers. It could possibly catch on in a few nations, though that would require our Major League Baseball to invest time, money, and effort into promoting it, which they have failed to do. 2 years ago, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox traveled to London to play a 2 game series there. Since they played the game in a Football stadium (soccer), the field dimensions were small for baseball standards. The Yankees won both games 17-13 & 12-8. Unfortunately it was an atypical game; the first game took over 5 hours to complete, they usually take 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours. Too much offense, and a plethora of pitching changes really slowed the game down. Unlike most team sports, there is no clock. Who ever has scored the most after 9 innings, wins. If they are tied, they play extra innings until someone breaks the tie.

I played Baseball for 17 years and I through exactly 156 pitches in one game ever. Normally I was on a 100 pitch count, but we were losing and we had nobody else that could pitch. So yeah, 156 pitches is kinda rare. I was 28 when I quit playing. Tony Danza's character is at retirement age and coming off an injury. Which would have made that 156 pitch count really take its toll.

You should check out "A league of their Own," which is a great movie as well as a great baseball movie, and probably a much better introduction to the game than "Angels."

Don't know much about baseball other than each team takes turns batting for 3 outs then fielding for 3 outs and after both teams have done both it's called an inning. There are 9 innings in a game traditionally. Outs being say if a batter hits a ball and it's caught before it hits the ground counts as an out. Or if a ball is thrown to a baseman before the base runner reaches the base or if a player running the bases is tagged by a player who has the ball. When batting a home run (hitting beyond the wall) is the best outcome as it allows the batter and any base runners that have already moved to a base before him to proceed to go all around the bases making it back to home (Like passing go in Monopoly), which when a base runner crosses home plate it is a score of 1 on the scoreboard. On non home runs, the player that batted the ball tries to advance as many plates as he can before the ball makes it back to the basemen. They basically stand on a plate and wait for the next batter to hit and when they do, all the base runners advance again. The idea is to not get caught between bases when the team manning the bases has the ball. A batter can also advance to a plate if there are 4 'balls' called before the batter runs out of strikes (misses) Ball is called when the pitcher throws a bad pitch.

Of all the American sports portrayed in Hollywood films, Baseball has the most "good" movies. The Natural was a really well done film, that takes on mythical tones. Major League is more of a pure comedy. Bull Durham is about life in the minor leagues. You have young naive kids dreaming of making "The Show" and older veterans just wanting to keep playing for as long as they can. It's unique look at the game. Sandlot is a good kids film about the game. It's not as sappy as Angel's in the Outfield, but it has a amusing battle between the kids trying to retrieve a baseball that went into the yard of "The Beast", a dog of such frightening demeanor the kids must use all their wits to get this valuable autographed ball back.

@@katreacts6843 I am embarrassed to admit my negligence to mention 3 other Baseball films of note. Field of Dreams; a mystical story of taking crazy chances, faith to go all out, and the bonds that bind us. Made most American men misty eyed during the ending. A League of Their Own; Loosely based on a true story about an American Women's Baseball League, started during World War II. Cobb: Based on the last days of Ty Cobb, former Baseball great, considered one of the greatest hitters who ever played the game. Unfortunately Cobb was a man of terrible temper, an admitted racist, and held a dark family secret. The story is played out with a sportswriter who is hired to tell Cobb's story, while driving him across the country.

"Has baseball always been this interesting??" To be brutally honest, no. Baseball is endlessly pedantic and taken way too seriously. You go to a baseball game to get out of the house or turn it on the TV because there is nothing else on. I'm actually going to encourage you to go watch a game or two to get it out of your system. I don't knock anyone who enjoys the game, but I am not one of them. I think that it's better playing baseball rather than watching it. Baseball is really a global game, but you are going to realize why you don't see many games on TV when you watch one.

I've always associated baseball with America and so far, being non-American who didn't grow up with this sport, I didn't really give it a second thought. I would like to go to a game, to see what the hype is about because visually it looks very interesting and entertaining :) Then again, I also want to go to an American football game.

American Football 🏈 is a better game. However that too is getting frustrating with all the rules piling up. It doesn't help matters that the current NFL Commissioner is also a dreadful idiot and tool.

To a Brit, who may follow cricket, baseball won't feel so slow. There are 4 major team sports in the US; Football (American), Basketball, Baseball, and Ice Hockey. Baseball is very different from the other 3 in that there is no clock used and baseball often is played at a leisurely pace. At a baseball game, there is more time to chat with your friends or other fans during the slow times in the game. Baseball fans revel in the games history far more than any other sport and are often obsessed with the games statistics. I neither condemn nor praise these traits, but most baseball fans are passionate about both. Baseball was the top team sport until about 1970, when Football became number 1. By 1990, Basketball has passed Baseball too. There are a few reasons, but foremost, Americans don't have the patience or antention span for Baseball's slower rhythm.

Rob Stoll ...The biggest problem with baseball, isn't the pace. It's that all the players are playing at such a high level, sometimes nothing will happen.

@@katreacts6843 Some might disagree with me, but if you want the best Football experience, go to a college Football game. The fans are more passionate, the tailgate parties are better especially the food and atmosphere(anyone is welcome at most tailgate parties), the fans are usually friendlier. The Southern colleges are the best atmospheres. That is not speaking from bias, since I'm from California in the West. Football is religion in the South, no joke. The only month that you can go to a Baseball and Football game is in September. Baseball's regular season ends at beginning of October and Football starts at beginning of September. I personally prefer Baseball, there are a few KZfaq videos that are overviews of how baseball is played. There is also an excellent video from SB Baseball about the 2016 World Series. You'll learn about the Billy Goat curse😄
