Hey everyone!! Heres the next Avengers movie, Age of Ultron! PLS NO READ IF U DONT WANT SPOILERS thought Ultron was an alien not one of Tony's creation and I really liked his character! James Spader really brought him to life and it made this movie so much more fun, not to mention how menacing Ultron looked.... bleh. The eerie robots were also a great touch that added to the creepiness of the movie. I had a lot of fun watching (which I'm sure you'll be able to tell) and I hope you guys have fun as well hehe :) thank you!!

@@krashd The ersatz asteroid of Sokovia wasn't only going to kill Avengers. Ultron saw that humanity's survival required radical, painful change. The Avengers stood in the way of that. They had to go first, sure, but most or all of humanity (assuming Ultron decided that only the "next level humanity" nature of AI would be sufficiently nimble to be sustainable in the face of coming challenges, which is hardly an unreasonable position) would have followed shortly thereafter.

Ultron has practically all the knowledge of human history. But it's just data, he has no personal experience with humanity. That's what Vision, through his previous incarnation as Jarvis, has all over Ultron, and why his wisdom is greater.

It was just more subtle and started with the Avenger's movie, where he had to learn to work with the other Avengers despite the flaws that others have (Iron Man) and without support from Shield in the battle of NY. The Winter Soldier... he joined Shield to serve and follow like a good soldier. But he realized that the people in charge had agendas that would lead to massive number of deaths (and allow Hydra to take over the world) so the only one capable of leading the defense of the world was himself. Then he had to oppose the Sokovia Accords for the same reason and for the fact that most people in charge are not there to "help" people but to enact and strengthen their own agenda, politics, ideology, etc. Steve is the only one above those petty goals.

As great as he was, the trailer suggested that Ultron was actually going to be a much scarier villain. The hammy-ness they gave him, while meant to imply that he was at least in part a product of Tony's mind and personality really took some of that edge off. It was promoted as a much darker movie and that led to some fan disappointment when it first came out. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qtOVgs1309WadKM.html

In Ultron's defence, the first thing it saw was the Internet. _All_ of it. KZfaq comments included. Truly one of the most tragic and relatable characters in the MCU. As for Ultron in the comics, it wasn't created by Stark, but by another founding member of the Avengers that hasn't appeared in the MCU at this point, it has no connection to the Infinity Stones (Infinity Gems in the comics), it's made of adamantium (like Wolverine's bones) from practically the get go (like, version 3 or something like that, same issue it first appeared in anyway, if I'm not mistaken) and thus practically indestructible, and it isn't trying to destroy humanity for perfectly valid and reasonable reasons (see above), but mainly because of daddy issues instead (no, seriously, it sort of just wanted to impress its creator, and / or surpass him, at least at the beginning, and then got somewhat irritated at the fact that he and the rest of the Avengers and occasionally other heroes kept managing to destroy it despite the whole adamantium thing)... but besides all that it's mostly the same, including being responsible for the creation of the Vision.

13:07 "Veronica" is known in the Marvel Universe as "The Hulkbuster Armor," which was developed by Stark and Banner together in the case that the Hulk somehow, someway took over permamently and was a rage-filled destrution machine that needed to be stopped, no matter what. In the prime comic universe (Earth-616), there have been at least 7 Hulkbuster Armors, with the latest being Armor Model 71, which was made of an adamantium-vibranium alloy. This was used by Tony, as well as having two duplicate armors controlled by two of his AI constructs (like Jarvis), to defend Project ARK, a wormhole-generating super-huge Iron Man armor built over the body of a dead Celestial (an extremely powerful being in the Marvel universe), against the Hulk. Even against three Hulkbusters at full power, Hulk won.

The most likely thing that puts Hulk to sleep is that Bruce and Natasha used a subconscious trigger. I don't think it's anything physical because Hulk is very highly resistant to anesthetics and sometimes completely immune to them. Her phrase, "The sun's getting real low" is a trigger phrase. Since Bruce is in Hulk's subconscious, it would work to wake him up.

There has been a bit of a controversy with this movie in recent years. When Black Widow is talking to Bruce about her past and how she was forcibly sterilized she has the line "still think you're the only monster here?" after she explains the sterilization. Some people took that to mean that Black Widow and by extension Joss Whedon believes that a woman that cannot reproduce is monstrous. I did not interpret that scene that way at all. I took it as Black Widow using the point that she was forcibly sterilized as a symptom of the lack of control she had over herself and her choices when she was with the group that turned her into a deadly assassin. That she is a monster like Bruce because she was given abilities and skills and had no control over how they were used to kill and maim people. the sterilization was an illustration of how much was forced on her and how much potential normalcy was taken from her forever.

This was a movie that, when I first saw it, I thought it was just 'ok'. But it definitely got better with more viewings. And maybe it was also helped with the context of movies that came after. As far as the danger of an AI is concerned, you have to realize that Jarvis was already a fairly complex AI. He just did not have the capabilities that Tony wanted in Ultron. Remember that the Iron Legion, with help from Jarvis, was fairly autonomous within the constraints of its programming. He was even capable of, to an extent, out thinking Ultron. With Jarvis as an example, how could you believe that all AIs are evil? Just like any computer, an AI still is subject to the constraints of its hardware and software. The problem was NOT Tony creating an AI, but that he used the Mind stone, something that he really had no understanding of, as a basis for that AI. Obviously the Mind Stone made Ultron something other than what Tony intended. Tony was smart enough to only give the Iron Legion limited autonomy. But he could not control the AI at the center of the Mind Stone. If it had any constraints, it was the constraints of whoever created it (not Tony).

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. The film that aged well despite all the uproar when it was first released. In fact, it's aged so well it outlasted the career of Joss Whedon. There's a lesson somewhere in here about separating the art from the artist. ...but I don't care. I'm just here for Wanda, her crimson magic, and her brilliant introduction to the MCU.
@ericjohnson9623

I love this comment! I hear separating art from the artist a lot, but I think a better way to look at it is that art allows people to express their ideals and their best self, how they want to see themselves versus how they actually act in real life. Buffy, etc. will outlive Whedon because he put in his best and most empathetic version of himself into crafting those characters and worlds, even though the real person is a narcissistic, cheating bully and couldn't show that same empathy to actual human beings.

Neither Ultron nor AI is inherently "evil." A program can't be, by itself, good or evil. The problem is the parameters set by the writer. Ultron was written to protect the world from anything that threatens it and, in this case, the main threat was The Avengers so Ultron went after them. It (despite the male voice) had no ulterior motive at all. It would be easy to say that Tony screwed up, again, but he wasn't done building Ultron so we don't know it he was going to put in safeguards that would have prevented this kind of thing. This film is definitely top five in the MCU. Cheers.

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were part of the original comics team when comic debuted. Everyone’s visions you see are foreshadowing, plus the vibranium is from Wakanda, which foreshadows Black Panther. Stan Lee actually did serve in World War II, he wrote training manuals with Dr. Seuss.

Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch joined the Avengers when "the Old Order Changeth"-ed in issue #16 (cover dated May 1965). Until X-Men #11 (also cover dated May 1965) they reluctantly served Magneto as part of his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Hawkeye also joined in Avengers #16, after having been an Iron Man antagonist and dupe (and lover) of the Black Widow when she was still spying for the Russians. Natasha's KGB spy masters shot her in front of Hawkeye (spoiler: she survived), but that motivated comics-Hawkeye to "go straight" and join the Avengers to repair his reputation. Then Iron Man, Thor, Giants man and the Wasp left the team, leaving Cap with an untested team of rookies (and, as far as the general public was concerned, former villains) dubbed "Cap's Kooky Quartet."

From what I've read, Fox got mutants, and they divided the twins. The MCU couldn't refer to mutants, hence the term "enhanced." The X-Men got Pietro (Peter) and the Avengers got Wanda. Oddly enough she's not addressed by her comic name (Scarlet Witch) until the end of WandaVision. That's why Pietro had to die. Now Disney owns Marvel & Fox, so this should get interesting. Supposedly we'll see the introduction of the X-Men & the Fantastic Four into the MCU. I hope they don't screw up Dr. Doom again.
