To say that this track has been a long time coming would be an understatement. Many years ago, the three of us recorded commentary tracks for Back to the Future and Back to the Future Part II, but we never got around to Back to the Future Part III... until now! Finally, Jake Baldino & Mike Peterson are back to wrap up this classic trilogy, which culminates in a western that actually holds up a lot better than we remember from when we were kids!
This is an audio commentary ONLY. It is meant to be watched along with the movie so you can raise or lower the volume on the commentary or the movie itself as you wish.

One of the neat things I didn’t notice until one of my recent rewatchs is that Clayton Ravine is renamed to Eastwood Ravine when Marty gets back to 1985. So in a way the joke at 12:16 is actually what happened.

there were major outbreaks of cholera throughout the 19th century (like you said, shit was everywhere, including in water supplies), so actually drinking water probably wasn't that common unless the water was first boiled. untreated water also causes hepatitis, salmonella, shigella, campylobacter, and cryptosporidium poisoning, and water treatment wasn't pervasive (yet); primitive slow sand filters were just becoming popular in the 1890s.

People don't realize how underrated back to the future part 3 is. It's actually much better than part 2. It's also shot much better too. The western setting is done justice and the form is improved because of it

I think most people's issue w/ part 3 is that it's more of a western & romance than a time travel movie. This is also my least favorite, but I agree that it's underrated.

@@jp3813 as a kid part 2 was my favorite but as an adult and someone who learned to love the western genre and the classic films that defined it, I think part 3 is an excellent homage to the past. Plus part 2 is still fun but it's lacking in inspiration and it not directed nearly as well as the other two films.

@@highwind1991 It seems like part 2 is everyone's favorite as a kid, but now I put it at 2nd place. IIRC, in the DVD commentary, Robert Zemeckis names it as one of his favorites from his filmography as well due to the sheer amount of imagination & creativity that they pulled off.

they did actually name the ravine after marty. in the movie marty says his name is clint eastwood, and when he appears on the tracks at the end, he passes a sign that reads "eastwood ravine". it's things like that and the twin/lone pine mall from the first one that gets me.

Now I’m imagining a whole plot where Time Shenanigans make Jesus an asshole, and Doc Brown teams up with the Virgin Mary to set things right, ending with him engineering the crucifixion, and/or bringing Jesus back from the dead using time travel to grab him from he past. It would be super sacrilegious, and very highly criticized within the religious community, but also hilarious. Doc Brown sells out Jesus to the Romans in exchange for thirty pieces of plutonium.
