This is even more incredible than you can tell just by looking at the clip. It was done in a single take it and was not rehearsed before it was performed for the film. That is how in sync they were with each other.
@garyglaser8292
@garyglaser8292 2 жыл бұрын
This is the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard. You are living in a fantasy world. There are at least 6 or 7 edits which means they spliced together at LEAST 6 or 7 takes. Plus, NOT REHEARSED? 😂. So they spontaneously started tap dancing and just HAPPENED to be in sync with each other? 😂
@wkmrecordsofficialchannel3965
@wkmrecordsofficialchannel3965 2 жыл бұрын
@Denny Dowling. Interesting and possible, here's why...there's a video of Prince walking onto the stage to join Stevie Wonder in concert during the playing of "Superstition". Prince played Stevie's keyboard flawlessly for a few seconds and then proceeded to play rhythm guitar and got busy as if they had rehearsed it together, so what you're saying here is very possible! IMO

You: "My knees hurt" Me: "Just wait buddy!" It would behoove you to research vaudeville and the chitlin circuit. We all assume that performances can be fixed in post, or a singer can be autotuned, or throw in some CGI. Vaudevillians had one shot to wow an audience, so they practiced, rehearsed, and stayed in shape if they needed to perform physically. Folks saved up money to be able to attend a show and if the performers weren't up to snuff, they weren't going to be booked there again. This particular performance was the first opportunity for the Nicholas Brothers to be seen by white audiences (this was segregation era), even though it was via film, it still gave them the chance to be booked in more places, as well as capture this legendary performance for us to enjoy. Imagine how many performers on the circuit never got the chance and are lost to time.

Calloway's orchestra was called The Cotton Club Orchestra but filming for Stormy Weather was done on Stage 14, 20th Century Fox Studios, 10201 Pico Blvd., Century City, Los Angeles, California. I guess the confusion is that the story is loosely based on Bill "Bojangles" Robison beginning his career @ Cotton Club, & the Nicholas Bros. also performed there so it was recreated for the film.

Yes Those Two Characters: Little Seymore from "Uptown Saturday Night" and Sarge from "The Five Heartbeats" were played by The Youngest Nicholas Brother Harold Nicholas. They Were The Greatest Tap Dancers in The World. Cab Calloway and His Band was one of the greatest Swing Bands of their day. Leona Horne and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson was in Stormy Weather. "Stormy Weather" was sung by Mrs. Horne. Mrs. Horne also played The Good Witch Gilda in "The Wiz" with Michael Jackson, Diane Ross, Nipsey Russell.

Here's a video of The Nicholas Brothers as kids you'd enjoy: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ba9yp8iS2r3XeHU.html Even if you don't do a reaction, it's fun to see their talent as kids!

Considering the movie was released almost 80 years ago, there's no way it's little Seymour. It's from 1943.

The best dancer ever, young people need to take good look at their work. There are several more movies that they were featured in, one take preference, no one were better than these brothers.

Thanks, WKM - I posted this note below, to one of the other commenters, but also wanted to say: Ha - I had no idea who "little Seymour" was! Thank you! lol (Harold and Fayard also did other amazing stuff - they didn't just dance - they also sang -- I hope to see some reactions to their work on "Down Argentine Way" - here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/frtddMmjs7KsfIk.html) - Fred Astaire held them in great regard, as did Gregory Hines
