Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall each played 4 characters in this movie. In the barbershop scenes Eddie played 2 characters, Clarence the barber, and Saul, the old Jewish white guy. Arsenio played Morris, the barber who was always eating. In the club Arsenio also played the woman who told Akeem I WANNA TEAR YOU APART. At the Black Awareness rally, Eddie played Randy Watson. Arsenio played Reverend Brown.

"Let's go to New York... Queens!" Leo: "Oh no!" LOL Still a fantastic movie. Never gets old. This was back when John Landis was still directing good movies. It kind of went downhill at Beverly Hills Cop 3, tbh. But, Coming To America and Trading Places are still great. I didn't like the Coming 2 America sequel. It was weird, and not especially funny.

I am so glad that you were able to watch Trading places just before watching this so that you catch the cameo thrown in there. I was already laughing just waiting for the moment of realization to hit. Hopefully we get to see you react to the new sequel Coming 2 America.

People all got that experience back then because movies were cheap, so the whole country saw that movie 5 years ago in the theater then saw this in the theater too.

@douglasmurphy3266 Yup, similar to the Lethal weapon series, and Mel Gibson's movie Maverick.

When Semi refers to the $500,000 earrings, remember those were 1988 dollars. So, in 2023 the value is more like $1,270,000!

You didn't watch the credits? That's the best part when people realize Eddie played everybody, you caught most of them though

If you enjoyed watching Eddie Murphy playing more than one character in this movie, watch The Nutty Professor and Norbit. I love those movies, so funny

Ugh…you’ve got to watch the end credits. You see all the characters played by Arsenio and Eddie. Marvel taught us all to watch the credits. Hell fast forward to see if anything there.
