This adaptation of Fallout is great because it doesn't shy away from the in-game gore. ...actually, it's pretty tame.

The way I interpreted why Maximus jumped on top of Lucy is due to his imperfect control of the suit. And also, all that extra weight add A LOT of inertia. The suit is so heavy that without power you can't actually move in it. You'll see that later. A lot of your questions will get answered as the show progresses - there is a lot of interesting stuff going on, if you can push past the gore.

Two game references in one scene: Lucy waving the gun pokes fun at all the Fallout players who talk to NPCs without putting their weapon away. Diaper dude is a nod to NPCs you meet in the original Fallout game from 1997 that had that posture and wore diaper wraps.

power suites act more like a vehicle than something you wear your basically driving it so its not super cumbersome and the suite has places to store some supplies

The game uses a "perk" system, one of them is called "Bloody Mess", It is rumoured that The Ghoul has this perk so expect more gore. unfortunately (for you) the game is quite gory but there is a lot of humour as well. Also the slow motion during the action can be described as V.A.T.S (a targeting system) in game, it slows down time and allows specific parts of the body to be selected, head, arms, legs, torso etc.

Actually most tech stuff is pre war leftovers. It's been 200 years. They can repair stuff if they can find parts but manufacturing is limited. Not only do you need precision machining equipment but you also need materials to machine. Basically the infrastructure doesn't exist anymore.

The Pip-Boy on Lucy's arm was not made after the war. It was issued by Vault-Tek to all the people who went into the vaults initially and has been passed down over the years. They are shown in the games to be able to repair them, but not manufacture them.

No one outside would know how to make one. The problem is that everything is irradiated on the surface and people are too busy just trying to survive. There are a few factions working with high tech devices but they have no reason to share that with wastelanders.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned it but in the video game there's a healing item called stimpacks. They inject into your wounds and heal them, and even mend broken bones instantly. They're great to stock up on at every possibility. Food also heals, but as I remember, it's only a small amount plus healing over time. (like a minute or two) Anyway the stimpacks are straight out the game and work exactly the same in this show. Lucy used one to recover from the knife in episode one.

The style with the exploding bodies is taken straight from the games. They have a targeting system for people that enjoy picking on body parts or aren't big enjoyers of 'live' combat situations, and shots performed that way happens in slow-motion with considerable exaggeration, which the TV show has admittedly made even more graphic as it leans into the unapologetic artistic violence aspects the series tends to embody with its dark humor.

Lucy is basically a "noob" player in the game...Max is an Idiot Savant & The Ghoul is the highest level with all the perks. He's really The Outlaw Josey Wales.

The whole thing about Fallout is they developed the micro processor WAY later than in our timeline so tech didn't miniaturize like it did for use and they were WAY into developing nuclear tech and most things were self powered with mini nuclear batteries. AND when the bombs fell on Oct. 23rd, 2077 people shunned technology because THAT'S what cause all their strife, that is why the general population doesn't have any interest in making the old tech work.

Since you've covered the shows I'd recommend already, there's still one new one left. X-Men 97. There's also a good old wholesome movie called Blast from the Past. You should see that. It's like the cuter parts of Fallout minus the violence. I think you'd like it.

Yes, people do talk of cockroaches being the only thing that would survive a nuclear fallout and some people have tried to pass it off as fact because they're tenacious, can live off anything, and that they would be the first thing to reemerge from a blast since they specialize in hiding, what they find would be easy pickings. Maybe some study claimed they were resistant to radiation. I hope it's all just urban legend. For the most part, I'm willing to believe it's just rambling nonsense. I mean raid takes them out. I'd only expect radiation to do the same. It would probably be nasty at the edge of a blast zone maybe, since people wouldn't be around to handle them. If you're willing to read a comic book where this subject is touched on, look for Hulk: The End. Just know in advance it's staggeringly depressing yet really interesting.

Yeah, the games have A LOT of blood and gore, they went all out in recreating that in the show lol. Also the ghoul isnt a bad guy, hes an anti hero.

The show is over-the-top gory because the games are over-the-top gory- almost comically so.
